Sleeping Beauty, Sleep On

Once Upon A Time... (on hiatus)

Sungmin made his way from grandmother's home to a nearby flower shop. It was Thursday and he was given the day off from work since his boss had demanding freshmen who wanted to work overtime for more money. Sungmin liked the extra money, but he was too tired to continue on being involved with more civilians. He was already frustrated with teachers who demanded more and students who did less.

He had finished a few tests and didn't end up cursing out everyone in his head. It was a success, but he'd likely do it tomorrow if not today.

His dear mother had returned from her trip and now he had spent a few days with his grandmother. He liked doing things with her, it made him happy that he had another family member other than his mother. Sometimes, he needed a change in his life.

He had asked his mother if he could go and spend a few nights with his grandmother. He had packed up enough clothes to last for at least four days: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. He was going to head back home tomorrow. As for now, he was heading to the flower shop to pick up a bouquet of daisies his grandmother had requested for. She had given him the money to go and buy it.

Once he made it to the flower shop known as Briar Rose's Exclusive Flowers, he immediately searched for the daisies. Once he found a bouquet of yellow daisies, he took them and went to the register. He noticed the florist's nametag, Kim Junsu, and had to the intention on asking how much the flowers were.

"How much is a bouquet?" Sungmin asked.

Junsu looked up from when he was tying another ribbon around the bouquet. "It's $25.98, please."

Sungmin nodded his head and fished out his wallet and gave the florist the right amount of money before giving him the money. He had noticed the pretty red rose inside of one glass vase on the shelf behind the florist. He couldn't help but smile at the sight of the pretty rose.

"That's a pretty flower." Sungmin commented as he pointed at the flower when Junsu looked up in confusion.

Junsu chuckled as he stared at the rose. He released a deep breathe. "Oddly, I found it on the shop's doorstep yesterday. There was no note attached, so I don't know if it was by accident or purpose."

Sungmin raised an eyebrow at the thought of someone gifting one with a rose. It only meant one thing, obviously.

"Perhaps a secret admirer?" Sungmin suggested.

Junsu giggled and shrugged as he turned back to face the other male. "Maybe, maybe not. It's not as if it will be a piece of cake figuring out who gifted me such flower. Surely enough it wouldn't matter."

Sungmin tilted his head in confusion as he took the bouquet in his hands. "What do you mean?"

"I can't help but throw my opinion out there but, the rose will wilt and lose its petals soon. It would've been nice to know who would've given me this, since I don't have the slightest clue." Junsu explained.

Sungmin widened his eyes by the florist's words. "I hope I don't sound rude, but I couldn't help but wonder to why a florist would say such thing about the product they're selling."

Junsu frowned. "Sad to say, it's not my business. Merely my dear guardians' business. Being their one and only child, I suppose I was the next in line to take over the business."

Sungmin nodded his head in understatement. He hoped he didn't sound rude, it wasn't his approach. He smiled friendly and replied. "I hope you do find that admirer of yours, really." He then left the flower shop, unknown to the fact that Junsu was watching him in confusion.

                                                               ~~~
"Hey granny, I'm back!" Sungmin shouted as he entered the small house and closed the door before locking it. He held the bouquet as he entered the kitchen where he heard pots and pans.
When he entered the kitchen, Grandma Lee was wrapping some cookies in plastic wrap before gently placing them in her light brown colored basket. Sungmin could easily suspect those cookies were going to people due to the fact that there were so many.
"Whatcha up to, Grand'Mere?" Sungmin asked as he approached his grandmother, eyeing the basket of wrapped cookies.
"Oh, these are for the people in Incheon's famous hospital." Grandma Lee replied as she placed a few more wrapped cookies in the basket.
Sungmin raised an eyebrow. "You mean the mental house?"
"Lee Sungmin! Where are you manners?" Grandma Lee scolded her dear grandson. She looked up at him with crossed arms and responded to her grandson. "Now, I have a friend who works there. She knows what these people go through each day. Do you know no family members visit? That's terrible."
Sungmin sighed deeply in guilt. He understood what she was saying. "I guess you're right. If they've had no light in their life, might as well pull back those curtains and allow the sun to shine upon their faves, right granny?" He smiled happily, unaware of his grandmother's plans.
Grandma Lee smiled and grinned as she pushed her basket of goodies into Sungmin's hands. "That's why you're delivering them for me, dearie." She grinned wider when her grandson's eyes widened in seconds.
"B-but grans, I-" Sungmin protested.
"But what, my grandson? You said yourself it's time to bring sunlight to these poor souls. You will make sure of that, won't you?" Grandma Lee asked.
Sungmin sighed deeply, but protested once more. "Are you not coming? Surely you should show your support too, grandma!"
"I'm meeting my dear friend who works there for lunch. We have some catching up to do. She was going to bake some pies and trouble herself, but I decided to do some charity myself and saved her the trouble." Grandma Lee responded, her grin turning into a small smile.
Sungmin agreed to it when he found no reason in protesting any longer. His grandmother told him to cut the daisies, leaving a small stem so people could have a cookie and a flower to brighten up their day. He did as his grandmother instructed, from throwing away stem parts and placing a patterned cloth over the cookies and flowers. He said goodbye to his grandmother before making the journey to Incheon's Asylum.
When he arrived in at the facility, he handed a cookie and flower to the ladies at the desk and some nearby residents who thanked him. He ended up approaching a young male who was sitting at a circle of chairs. He placed  a hand upon his right shoulder and spoke softly.
"Hello sir." Sungmin greeted as the feminine young male looked back at him with widened eyes.
                                                                 ~~~

He knew because he was given the opportunity to know. He knew of others that weren't in Westeria or Wonderland. He never got to meet them personally, but he was merely a ghost in their saves as he saw thousands of stories unravel and become real in his eyes. He watched their suffering and their joyous moments. He never forget their names or faces.

He watched a beautiful person from the inside lose his mother.

He witnessed a young boy lose three family members.

He was there as a pretty boy lost his father.

He had been there as a young boy with long hair watch as lights filled the sky.

He had been there and none of them knew.

It was a enjoyment meeting the beloved White Queen, for she had all sorts of powers. She was as omnipotent as the Queen of Hearts, if not more powerful. But even as much as he wanted to stay in Wonderland, others tried persuading him to return home. It was a horrible deal and at the time, he was too young to defeat the Queen of Hearts.

The White Queen and a few others tried telling him of what he was missing out on. As many times as he said he wanted to stay in Wonderland, they continued to attempt persuading him. The White Queen asked him if he wanted to let go of his mother and although she was his mother, he wasn't hesitant to agree on letting her go for Wonderland.

He knew what it was like to be judged and bullied. Every single day children older or younger bullied him. Every second, adults looked at him oddly and judged him for being different. He didn't make assumptions, but they didn't see what he was seeing. Ryeowook knew they would never believe him. What burned the most was that his own mother was one of those who judged him.

That's what broke him.

An escape from Westeria made him happy, it made him feel free. His dear companions didn't want him regretting anything. But he knew what he would come back to if he returned home. People who didn't care about him. They thought he should be fixed, not listened to. He didn't want to go back, but those boys who lost their parents made him think about the possibility of losing both.

He couldn't help but wondering how it would've been if he bad both of his parents. If he had only his father. If he had neither of them and lived as an orphan. Although he despised his mother for calling him crazy, he couldn't help but still love her. But he wanted Wonderland. He wanted to be with those who were in it. That's where he belonged.

That was how he knew who had approached him on that Thursday afternoon. In the morning, he had gone to room 219, finding a sleeping Kyuhyun in the room. He smiled as he watched the wolf sleep, he was no longer in Hyuna's cruel prison. But he wasn't completely free; his memories were gone and he would have to remember it all again.

As Ryeowook watched the innocent young boy in a red hood stare at a young wolf, he couldn't help but notice there were some sparks there. He saw the way the two stared at each other in their first meeting; both eyes fascinated by the other. He saw there was no way either of them would bring harm to each other.

He smiled at Sungmin, knowing that there would have to be a step needing to be taken for Kyuhyun's and Sungmin's recovery. He might as well be the bridge.

"H-hello...I'm Ryeowook." Ryeowook introduced himself, trying to be careful with his words. He knew he wasn't crazy, but Sungmin didn't. He wanted the other to listen to him, not what others claimed of him.

Sungmin smiled sweetly. "I'm Lee Sungmin. I'm not a regular visitor. My grandmother's friend visits often I believe. This is my first time here."

Ryeowook giggled at the mention of Sungmin's grandmother.

She would've been devoured by the big bad wolf.

"What brings y-you here? Certainly there's a reason to see crazy people, right?" Ryeowook asked, trying not to sound bitter. He just wanted to know why Sungmin was there. He didn't remember Kyuhyun.

Sungmin smiled sadly and took a wrapped cookie and daisy, holding it out to the young man. "Here. This was from my grandma. She felt bad for everyone and...I wouldn't blame her. You all must face many things every second of your day."

Ryeowook had tilted his head.

Of course. His grandmother.

An idea immediately popped into Ryeowook's head as he took the gift. "I need to tell you a secret, Sungmin-shi."

Sungmin widened his eyes in surprise. He whispered, "What is it? I cross my heart that I won't tell!"

"So...A new person was brought. He suffered some injuries I believe, they wouldn't tell us. But...I think he'd really enjoy one's company. He really is in a lost state....He's unconscious, but I don't think anyone from here can help." Ryeowook explained, watching for Sungmin's reaction.

The young male in the red hoodie looked worried all of a sudden. "Is he okay? Why can't no one else help him? Not to be rude, but...Why me? I'm no professional."

Ryeowook chuckled. "That's why! He'll be with delusional people and people who're used to this every single day. He needs to feel like a normal person, I think. He's been asleep, but I think he'll be happy to wake up to someone who won't treat him like a mad animal, you know?"

Sungmin nodded his head. "Y-yeah, I suppose you're right." Ryeowook could see a familiar glint in the red hooded male. It was too familiar to him that he couldn't possibly miss.

The act of one judging another.

If there was another thing Ryeowook knew of Little Red, was the fact that Sungmin's grandmother was judged because she had lost her husband. Everyone thought she was crazy, Ryeowook didn't know if people in Sungmin's home used to judge him.

But Ryeowook has had a taste of the Earth-life.

He wouldn't be surprised if Sungmin had faced judgement in this new land he thoughts he always knew.

"And no one here are animals." Sungmin said with a smile as he rose from his seat.

Ryeowook smiled back. "Thanks. He's in room 219." Sungmin waved goodbye and made his way towards the hallway of rooms, passing other patients and not forgetting the face or voice of his new friend.

                                                                ~~~
Once Sungmin arrived at the doorway of room 219, he tried preparing himself for what he would do. It was his first time being in a mental home, let alone meeting the inhabitants of it. He took a deep breathe and thought of the life of a mental person. It couldn't be anything pretty or nice, surely enough.
He knew what it was like to judged. He knew people thought he was crazy, but he would like to believe they didn't actual think he was mental. He didn't want to think he was mental.
He cursed himself a few times before entering the room and noticed everything. There was a hospital-like bed along with an IV, a small table near the small window along with an uncomfortable looking pull out grey chair that on the left side of the bed. The room also smelled like disinfect and he could see the small dust that was on top of the sides of the paintings of flowers on the pale blue walls.
Lying on the hospital-like bed, was a young man with brown hair and nice soft looking skin. Sungmin approached the male, feeling some type of familiarity. He sat on the chair and touched the male's hands with his right hand as he spoke softly with a small smile.
"I'm sorry of your experience you faced to get here. I'm sorry that no one can help you, even if they try. I don't know if you've ever faced judgement, but...If you had or even if you hadn't, you should always know to not give in. No one's words matter as much as yours." Sungmin said, knowing the other couldn't possibly hear him.
There was no response.
Sungmin sighed deeply and continued speaking. "Being bullied is horrible and I've faced it. It when people just take a look and you and start claiming who you are when they're wrong. I think it takes a person with a good heart to get to know someone, you know?"
Silence.
Sungmin took a cookie and daisy, placing it on the table before going back to the sleeping young male. He smiled. He didn't notice the young male was moving until his hand started moving. In seconds, Sungmin was staring at brown eyes that looked familiar in some way. He could've sworn he's seen those eyes...
"H-hello...." The young male greeted softly, a small smile reaching his face.
Sungmin couldn't help but giggle in happiness. He was happy to know that the male was okay, merely sleeping. "Hi." He felt his cheeks turn red from the embarrassment. The young male was handsome and had a nice voice.
"W-who are y-you?" The young man asked slowly, no sign of rudeness in his voice, just curiosity.
Sungmin's smile widened. "I'm Lee Sungmin. You?"
"Kyuhyun....C-Cho Kyuhyun." The young male answered.
"It's a pleasure meeting you, Kyuhyun-shi." Sungmin said, not finding the strength to remain in the presence of the handsome man who was making him blush. "I must go now though."
Kyuhyun suddenly looked sad. "W-why? D-do you w-wish to leave so soon?"
Sungmin sent him a reassuring smile as he placed a hand on Kyuhyun's. "I do plan on visiting. I must go now though."
"Promise?"
"I promise." Sungmin promised the younger male.
Kyuhyun chuckled. "I'll be waiting."
"Bye." Sungmin said, exiting the room with a bright smile and the feeling to run back in the room and hold onto the male. He passed out more of his grandmother's goodies before leaving. He looked at the room where Ryeowook was, finding empty seats.
                                                              ~~~

"I saw Sungmin, Sungie." Ryeowook said as he was held by his lover who was a mere figure made of shadows.

The male caressed Ryeowook's face and chuckled. "Good, Wookie. Did he look happy?"

Ryeowook shrugged and frowned. "I don't know if he's facing struggles, but I lead him to Kyu's room. I think the two spoke."

"Brilliant! Good job, Wookie. Good job." Yesung said in a tone of relief.

Ryeowook wrapped his arms around Yesung's neck and spoke softly. "What are we to do, Sungie?"

Yesung exhaled deeply and smiled before replying. "Love, I think...I think I have a clue to the cure."

Ryeowook's eyes widened in shock from Yesung's words. "R-really? Tell me, Sungie!"

"Wookie, true love breaks every spell." Yesung whispered.

Ryeowook turned happy to sad.

No one remembered a thing and Hyuna's curse made things harder for people in their world to recall everything.

Ryeowook was confused though. "Wait...Whay about us?"

"It seems like Hyuna wanted only princes, neither of us are royal." Yesung explained.

Ryeowook nodded his head and agreed. That made somewhat sense. "Of course. She'd make this difficult."

"This means we're waiting for a kiss from Kyuhyun and Sungmin, Eunhyuk and Donghae, Heechul and Hangeng, Kangin and Leeteuk, or Siwon and Kibum." Yesung explained with a saddened expression.

Ryeowook shook his head in disbelief. He doubted neither of the pairs had much of a connection since they were harder to be together due to Hyuna's curse.

"...Kyuhyun and Sungmin barely met! This...This will take long, won't it, Sungie?" Ryeowook asked.

Yesung nodded his head and planted a kiss on his beloved's cheek. "I can only wonder how this will go, love. We need to make sure they fall in love."

"We only are aware of Kyu's and Minnie's relationship." Ryeowook pointed out.

"Therefore,  for now our bets are on them." Yesung clarified.

Ryeowook sighed deeply. They had their bets on five pairs.

This had to work.

Evil could not win.

Hyuna couldn't get her way.
