Part Ninety-One
Random Acts of Love: KyuWook DrabblesExposure I
I was looking through my phone at some of my older pictures. Some of them were just stupid things I needed to delete. There were things in there from years ago. But I ran across one from before I left for my enlistment. It was of Leeteuk, Kyuhyun, and I. A smile spread across my face as I looked at it, remembering when I’d taken it. Kyuhyun was still holding it together well at that point, but when I finally walked away, he looked on the verge of tears. I knew he would take it hard, but I was still glad he came to see me off.
I leaned against him. We were sitting on the couch together and he was flipping through television channels, trying to decide what to watch. “I was thinking of using this picture for our fan meets.” I usually liked to forewarn him when I used pictures of him or us publicly.
He glanced over at the picture. He took a long breath. His hand moved, resting on my thigh and squeezing. “Sure,” he simply said, nodding. I knew he didn’t have any objection to the picture itself, but the feelings he associated with it were conflicted. That was a rough day for him. Yes, he was smiling in the picture. But it was just a cover for much deeper, darker emotions inside him. If there was any real happiness in that moment, it was only because I wasn’t gone yet.
“You sure?” I asked, looking directly at him.
His eyes locked with mine. “I’m sure,” he assured me. Then he leaned in and pressed his lips against mine.
Exposure II
Kyuhyun was flipping through pictures in his phone when he handed it to me. It was that picture from Donghae’s birthday party that the manager had taken of us all that we’d never posted. He’d sent it to all of us, but we hadn’t used it for anything because the company thought it wasn’t advisable for the fans to see when I was enlisted. If you read between the lines, what they were really trying to say was Kyuhyun and I were acting a little too clingy in the picture for comfort. I guess we look too obvious as a couple in it and the government discouraged stuff like that while I was enlisted.
