Chapter 4
Meeting 2PMAfter Taecyeon relayed her address to the van’s driver, he settled back into his seat and asked, “Keraeso, hangukaesoh mohaneuhngoya?” So, what are you doing in Korea?
“I’m going to teach English,” Paula answered.
Silence.
She shifted her eyes around in front of her for a second, until she looked beside and behind her at the looks everyone was giving her.
“Okay, seriously,” Taecyeon said, “That’s weird.”
“Why?” she exclaimed. “It’s not like I’m doing it on purpose…”
Another short silence descended on them.
“You can understand Korean,” Nichkhun began, “But you can’t speak it?”
“Yes,” she said, a little relieved that he had guessed. “My parents didn’t really speak it to my sister and I when we were little, so we didn’t learn how to speak the language. After so long of listening to it, though, you kinda pick up on the meanings of the words.”
“That’s interesting,” he replied. “So, I guess you’re here to learn how to speak it too?”
“Yeah,” she smiled. “One of the many reasons.”
Then she looked at the back row and Wooyoung, who were glancing at her quickly every once in a while. Wooyoung and Jun K. tried to look like they didn't care; Chansung and Junho were softly talking to each other. She leaned against the back of her seat to get closer to Nichkhun, to tell him something, when Chansung beat her to it. After a few more seconds of whispering, he pulled away.
“Yehgihaeba,” Chansung said. Ask her.
Nichkhun gave her a side-glance before saying, “So, you may or may not be familiar with this…”
Paula looked at him expectantly, seeing that Wooyoung was relaying to Taecyeon what the youngest members had been talking about.
“But on variety shows,” he continued, “Sometimes they ask the female guest who her ideal type from the cast is…”
“Okay,”
