Meeting 2PMWhen the bus was nearing what seemed like its final stop, Paula took her hand back from Taecyeon’s. To say the rest of the ride was awkward was an understatement: while they held hands, she tried to ignore it by looking out the window and not looking at the man beside her. However, they were constantly touching, so her head wasn’t clear, unable to discern where they were going, and she wasn’t able to think of anything to say without sounding like a fool.
As soon as the bus came to a halt, Paula got up from her seat and shuffled around Taecyeon to get off the vehicle as fast as possible. She took an immediate deep breath when her feet touched the ground, closing her eyes and getting as much cool air into her lungs as possible.
“Ready?” a deep voice asked from beside her.
She sighed, her eyes still closed.
“I don’t know anymore,”’ she replied, turning to face her companion, eyes now open.
After a moment of staring into each other’s eyes, he looked down at his feet, saddened, and said, “Let’s just get it over with then.”
As Taecyeon took a step forward, she touched his arm. Surprised, he looked back at the young woman.
Paula was looking at her hand, like it betrayed her mind. Then she raised her head to look into his eyes.
“Please don’t be mad at me.”
He smiled the tiniest of smiles. “I don’t think I could ever be mad at you.”
She considered what he said for a moment, and then mirrored his smile b
