Burgers and fries isn’t usually considered romantic but Hoya had no complaints as he was eating it with one his most favorite people at the moment.

“I’ve come to the conclusion that dating you might be bad for my health.”

Jenny, who was in the midst of biting into her burger, stopped what she was doing then looked up at him.  “Why’s that?”

“I’ve eaten more junk food in the span of a month than I have in the last 3 months, I’m perfectly content with staying still as long as you’re beside me and you make my heart race every time I see you.”

“If that’s your version of sweet talk, you’re doing a bad job at it.”

“Don’t like that?  How about ‘If I could rearrange the alphabet, I’d out U and I together.’”

Jenny made a disgusted face.

“No? ‘I don't know which is prettier today, the water, the sky or your eyes.’”

Jenny’s face scrunched up even more.

“Did the sun come out or did you just smile at me?”

“STOP!” Jenny cried out, a little bit louder than she intended.  “Please stop.”

“What?  You don’t appreciate my sweet talk?  The others didn’t seem to mind.”

At the word, “others”, Jenny quickly snapped her head back and stared at Hoya.  Hoya gulped, he knew that he had dug his own grave and Jenny was just waiting to bury him in it.

Jenny smiled widely, like a hunter that just caught its prey.  “Just how many ‘others’ were there exactly?”

Hoya closed his eyes and thought to himself that must be what getting caught between a rock and a hard place felt like.  He debated what to say, just how much to reveal...“I’m not gonna lie and say there weren’t others before I met you.”

“I had guessed that much.”

Hoya opened his eyes, then looked straight at Jenny.  “Look...” he hesitated.  “When I first became a professional, I let it all get to me.  The money, the fame...the women.  I guess it’d be fair to say I might have been the ‘cause of a few women’s tears...”

Jenny nodded, unable to say anything.

Hoya hesitated once again upon seeing Jenny’s expression, debated whether or not he should continue.  “Look, it was fun at the beginning.  I was young, I was stupid, I messed up...a lot.  Then, my brother got married, started having kids and I thought that maybe I should start getting my personal life in order if I was going to be a good godfather, a good exmaple to his kids.  Well, that and I didn’t want to have to explain why I brought a different woman every time I went to go visit them.”  Hoya finished his speech on what he hoped was a light note.

Finally, Jenny cracked a small smile and Hoya was able to breathe a little bit easier.

“So...I guess some of them weren’t exactly girls you’d bring home to meet your mama.”

“No.” He shuddered at the thought of his mom meeting some of the girls he’d been with.   He was waiting for Jenny to comment but she just continued eating.  “You’re not gonna say anything?”

“What do you want me to say?”

He shrugged.

“Do you want me to go in a jealous fit of rage?  Be forever disgusted?  Look, hearing it said out loud is pretty...shocking but I would be lying if I said that I didn’t prepare myself to hear something like this.  Besides, unless you’re dating someone else at the same time as me right now, that was all in your past.  All I can hope for is that you learned something from all of that.  Now, let’s eat.  The food is getting cold.”

Hoya laughed inwardly.  This woman had a one track mind when it came to food.  He also had to admit that he was secretly impressed with what she had said.  “Just not just saying this, right?”

She threw him a look that said: “Are you kidding me?  Just shut up and eat.”

“Got it.  Less talking more eating.”

When they finished their meal, Hoya held Jenny close to him, loving the feel of her body against his.

“From all your relationships, were some of them serious?” Jenny asked, curious.

“Despite the picture I painted, it wasn’t like all the time.  I’ve had my heart broken too.  There was a woman that almost made me swear off all women for life.  Luckily I didn’t.”

“She broke your heart real good, huh?”

“Looking back, it probably wasn’t the greatest relationship, but I really cared about her and she let me down when I needed her most.”

“I’m sorry.”

“It’s ok.”

“...Thanks for sharing all of this with me.”

“You would have found out sooner or later.  It’s not too late to run away.”

“Nah...I still haven’t got what I wanted out of this yet.”

“Oh yeah? What’s that?”

She looked at him with a serious expression.  “Free tickets.”  She then let out a loud laugh.  “I’m just kidding.”

“If I get you free tickets, will you stay with me for a long time?”

“Depends how good the tickets are.”

“I’m sure I can manage to get decent ones.”

“What do you want in exchange?”

“Kisses. Hugs. In abundance.”

“I can manage that.”

“Sounds like we have ourselves a deal then.”

“Deal.”

“Deal.”

“We should shake hands to make it official.”

Hoya took Jenny’s hand in his and shook it.  Jenny grabbed Hoya’s arm, pulled him closer to her and laid a kiss on his right cheek.

“I like this deal already.” said Hoya.
