"What are we doing here dad?" A boy in his teenage vampire year is following his dad while he keep a steady pace at their walk.

 

"We are visiting a special person Baek. And I want you to pay attention and be kind to him when we get there." His father, in a formal suite said without taking a glance on his dear curious son.

 

Before Baekhyun can ask again, he noticed that the forest seems to be thicker and scarier. He felt some cold chills on his spine when they stop at a big tree hanging on the nearby cliff. He though they are just looking for some scenery but his ideas are proven wrong when his father decided to walk straight to the tree.

 

"Dad... I think we are in the wrong place..." He starts to doubt the action of the other.

 

"Silly Baek!" The man chuckles and look at him smiling. "Of course we are on the right track. Come on before I left you there." 

 

His father suddenly turns around him and he disappear when he pass through the tree.

 

'A Portal!' He suddenly knew that he should follow his dad.

 

There was a bright light upon entering the portal so Baekhyun decided to close his eyes and tries to adjust to the light when he opens it. When he saw the place, he was awed on the scene he is seeing. They are now walking in a beautiful grass field with flowers that has an usual pathway. What amazes him is the presence of some little fairies playing and jumping all over the field with some human fairy like looking at the two vampire present in their territory. 

 

"Don't be afraid, they are Fae. It is just their nature to be cautious but if you don't harm them, they will not also harm you." His dad announces and Baekhyun, although his dad assures, keeps his guard up since he knew they are aggressive and harmful in nature.

 

After they passed the green fields, he saw a lake with houses that is resides in trees and more Faes can be seen. They all have pointy ears, mostly have bright hair colors and wears some nature oriented dress as well as wings while some don't. They also have colorful eyes that suits their hair color and just being nearby with them, he can sense such great powers residing in each one of them that he better not pissed anyone if he wanted to live longer. 

 

Baekhyun was brought back into reality when he bumps into his dad's back.

 

"Come on, I wanna talk to you about something." He nods and ,again, followed his father into a much more quiet place but with beautiful sceneries. They stopped in a big tree house with beautiful flowers, diamond and gem designs as their enhancers. One can really attempt to steal those if they forgot in which territory they are. 

 

His Dad caught his attention again by a small cough and he mutters a small sorry before looking at him.

 

"Remember when I asked you about what will you do if you have another younger brother?" His father asked sincerely.

 

Baekhyun knew what will be coming after this since his brother Baekbom spill some details to him when he heard the argument between him and his father. He knew that he had another younger brother and that mere thought makes him wanna claw the other in the eyes and tear him apart since he was the reason why his dad doesn't pay anymore attention and time to them and now he wants to face it even he desperately wants to curse and kill that person. The mere reason that his mother died because of depression and got sick due of his father mistake took it's toll to his mother and died due to suicide. That doesn't make him hate his father but he hated the reason why his father left them alone and never even care to talk about it makes him sick to his guts even he hadn't spoken it loud to his father. 

 

He faces the soil and clenches his fist while biting his bottom lips that is easily recognized by his father and sighs as he clasps his arms to his shoulders facing him.

 

"The reason that I brought you here is because of this. I already knew that you and your brother are already aware that you have a step brother and I ...I want you to meet him and see if he is doing just fine." He sighs. Still, Baekhyun refuses to look at his dad because he might regret anything that might say after all.

 

"I brought you here... 'coz I know.... that you.. between you and your brother, will understand the situation that he is into 'coz among you two, you are the most logical and understanding one. I hope, you will try to understand what I want you to see Baek. Please.. give the guy a chance Baek, that is all I need of you. He is somehow special that I cannot spill some details about him to you and your brother." His father pleads and he can't help but to nod when he saw his eyes. His father muttered thanks and kiss his forehead before they went inside after a series of knocks and 'come in'. 

 

Once they are inside, he noticed some nature inspired furnitures and spacious room with a pretty lady dressed in a fairy like costume in 'Barbie and the fairies' as they are greeted with a warm smile and hello.

 

'So is that the who stole my dad?'Baek scoff mentally trying to fake a smile.

 

"Is Kyungsoo here?" Mr. Byun asks and the other nods and replies.

 

"Oh, he is always on his room. Let me go and check him for a while. Why don't you sit down first and feel yourself at home." she bows and flies towards the said room. 

 

Despite its small appearance outside, the house is literally bigger than what it used to be. It has a living room, nice kitchen and a mini library near the corner of the room. It also looks like a two storey house with a nice attic. Before Baek's mind could wander out again, his father tries to clarifies something for him.

 

"His name is Kyungsoo. He is a small, bright and cheerful child. His mother died after she delivers the him since he is special. The girl earlier was his mother's cousin, Minah. He is living with his cousins that took them as their own siblings." He explains with a smile.

 

Baek just mutters an 'oh' from his father's explanation before Minah, the Fae, went down with a panic on her face.

 

"What's wrong?" Mr. Byun asks.

 

"I recall locking Kyungsoo from his room and he is now nowhere to be found." She panics. "I...I swear I leave him there...." 

 

"Calm down, maybe he manage to get out." Mr. Byun stands up calm down the Fae when Baekhyun felt and smell an inviting and pleasant smell. That is when the door opens with a teenage fair skin man on his early twenties having a crying child on his arms with a 10 year old look like..human?

 

"Minah!" The man was surprised by seeing his sister in front of them. That is when it struck to him the presence of two persons.

 

"Yunho hyung! How many times I told you not to let Kyungsoo out in the open? He was not suppose to be out like this!" The fae exclaim as she rushes towards the sobbing boy checking from injury. 

 

 

"I'm s...sorry... I was the one .. who insist in letting me out.." He sobs. Please don't be angry with hyung." The boy sobs and clasps his stomach.

 

"Oh my gosh Yunho...he's bleeding again! Get the medicine from the room quick." She orders and laid the boy to the couch beside Baekhyun who stiffen at the gesture.

 

"Please look after him for a while." Minah pleads and he nods in awed and Mr. Byun followed Minah to get some clean water for the wounds and some new clothes.

 

He wonders what the boy makes him special that he is needed to be locked from his room.

 

"A....are you okay." Baek asks the sobbing boy that opens his eyes and looks at him.

 

"I..it hurts......I'm sorry I leave my room...." he sobs. When Baekhyun saw how weak and fragile the boy is. He tries to caress his black hair to ease the pain and that is when the other reach for his hand which he gladly took. He saw a little cut on the boy's hand and saw how the boy is cut with bruise on his body.

 

Baekhyun, without thinking, the boy's hand with cut to heal the little wound which he was thought that is right. Just when he was about to taste the blood, he suddenly sense about the alluring smell that he takes note just a while ago was coming from the boy. He takes a on the inviting blood since he decided to do it all along. 

 

When Baekhyun's tongue touches the wound and tasted the blood along it, he felt an unexplainable feeling surging from his body so he decided to continue it until the wound closes and the boy whimpering in pain shot his eyes wide at the person or healing his wound. 

 

Blood thirst was the correct word that he felt as he feels the sudden light and power flowing up on his body that is when he decided to stop bit his instinct told him to push it further. 

 

"Wh.....what are you doing....." The child was dumbstruck by the action of the other especially when he met the red eyes boy with his blood on the side of his mouth.

 

Baek suddenly looks at his eyes and grabs the hem of his shirt with his fangs ready to devour on the fragile boy when Yunho arrives and saw that his little brother is ready to be eaten by their little visitor.

 

"You little piece of...." Yunho shove Baekhyun away from Kyungsoo and lift him towards his eye level by the boy's shirt as his eyes turns to golden brown ready to kill the boy.

 

"Stop that hyung!! He is just trying to help!" Kyungsoo grab the pants of his hyung pleading not to hurt the boy that just cleaned his wound from his perspective.

 

"See? He cleaned my wounds and heal it!!" He exclaim letting his brother see the uninjured hands that he possibly remembered that he knew there was a big cut there just a while ago.

 

Baekhyun felt a chance to escape when the older man looks at his little brother. He felt the surge of power over his body as he materialize his power on his hands that holds the arm of his capturer.

 

"Ouch! Why you.... where did you go?" Yunho flinched when he felt like his arms that is grabbing the boy stings and he let go of the boy. 

 

Baekhyun smirked when he was released and decided to surround his body with light that effectively blinding the other slightly but also makes him unseen, literally. He was also shock when he saw a mirror like object that shows the tall man and the boy on the couch but he is nowhere to be seen.

 

"What the.... " Baekhyun lifted his arms to see if he is really invisible and his assumptions where true when his father and the girl Minah came back asking what just happened.

 

When the situation calms down, as well as the side effect of the boy's blood, Baek can be seen again much to his anticipation but he also felt the effect of the sudden adrenaline rush making him a little dizzy and somehow a bit tired. Misunderstanding are completely nowhere to see. Except the fact that Baekhyun and Kyungsoo are step brothers.

 

They are all now situated at the couch after the said boy is all cleaned up and with patch on his body from the cuts he received, that is how his brother tell the story where they went. Apparently, Kyungsoo persuade his brother to let him go to the annual festival were his brother is a candidate for the best fighter of the year that is granted to do missions outside the portal and the latter wants to watch his brother. But on his luck, he was sitting on the bleachers of the arena when some kids wants to play with him and since Yunho's fight was after few rounds, he decided to join the other since it was his first time leaving his room. Just when Yunho trusted his hunch about his curious little brother, he followed the gem he placed on the other that acts as a tracker since Kyungsoo have a faint smell that is not easily distinguish from others.

 

He found out Kyungsoo on the middle of the forest nearby where the little children just like his age are being attacked by monsters and starts to attack them one by one. Since none of them can use their powers on full blast, they all have scars and crying. Kyungsoo on the other hand have much more wound since the monsters have sensed that he is much more of a threat or a delicious meal, another monster like ogre appears and they all froze on their spot. Kyungsoo manage to shield him and the boys with a tiny shield but the club of the ogre strike the wall down easily throwing him easily on the field. That is when Yunho came to save his brother and the other kids by killing the beast. 

 

Right now, Kyungsoo has a bandage over his head, his legs are scrape but not as bad as his shoulders. He just sobs as he said his sorry over the other two with pleading eyes. He knew that there must be a meaning behind why he is always locked up to his room and the answer was that he attracts possible attackers since he is too gullible and don't know about his true ability yet. All he knew was that he is special. 

 

When he looks up, he saw Baekhyun looking at him who gives him the warmest smile with his slight crescent eyes trying to cheer him up. When Kyungsoo felt the other smile, he felt also smiling and blush. Immediately he hugs his hyung and keep his face from being seen by the puppy eyes boy which they all find adorable.

 

"Hey, that is not nice to greet a visitor. You know that right?" Minah chuckles.

 

"Yeah, besides he is older than you so I guess you can call him hyung also if he wants too." Yunho pats his brother's head slightly catching his attention.

 

"R....really?" Kyungsoo exclaims excitedly as he take a peek on the other.

 

"Of course! I would be glad too." Baekhyun smiles sincerely since he found the shy cute boy so hard to resist. 

 

"O...okay... Umm..... thanks..."

 

"Baekhyun.. that's my name. You can call me Baek-hyung or Baekkie if you want." Baek is now eager to get the trust of the other since he find it not that harmful if he tries to get close to his half brother. And he nods.

 

"Why don't you guys play along in your room Kyungsoo? I'm sure Baek wouldn't mind right?" Mr. Byun suggests and the other agrees.

 

"I wouldn't mind it if Kyungsoo will allow me to....." 

 

"ME TOO!" Kyungsoo suddenly blurted out having unwanted attention to him. "I mean, I... would love too." He squeak from embarrassment.

 

"Come on Kyungsoo, can you show me to your room, right?" Baekhyun tilted his head to see the other and he gladly jumps down the sofa after a few goodbyes then the two was off to the stairs leaving the others talk in private matters.

 

"So, what do you think of my dad?" Baekhyun suddenly asks to see some information he could get from the boy.m

 

"Oh.... M..mr. Byun is fun to be with.... he keeps visiting me, noona and hyung. My brother said that he is a good and kind man. I like him also." Kyungsoo stutters when Baekhyun asks him suddenly.

 

"Is that so?" Baek looks at the boy who is shy to make contact with him. He raise the other's chin to be facing with him. 

 

"How about me? What do you think of hyung?"Baekhyun asks since he knew about his previous behaviour shown on the other a while ago.

 

"Baek-hyung .....is also nice. You treated my wound, see? It doesn't hurt anymore!" Kyungsoo smiles and show his hand then smiles.

 

"Aish...you kiddo! You really are hopeless." Baekhyun sighs then he looks around the room for distraction. The kid is really dense and it is that he can't help but to let out the breath he didn't knew he was holding. 

 

"Neh? What's the matter hyung? Why are you suddenly sad?" the smaller tilted his head and pouts at the older. He observes the sudden behaviour but then, he didn't know what is wrong.

 

"Nothing. I just realize something. Sorry." He chuckles and pinch Kyungsoo's chubby cheeks.

 

"Ouchie... perhaps you didn't like my room?" He rubs his abused cheeks and pouted more.

 

"Hey, your room is nice. And it is nicer than mine." Baek ruffles his hair like it was his new addiction. They started to talk and play more with the kid since playing outside means more troubles for him to attract undesirable monster or prey since he is so gullible and innocent. More on like Baekhyun was doing the talking since the latter is timid and shy but when it comes to the outside world, he keeps some information and fill him up with limited yet amusing to Kyungsoo. After dinner, since Minah and Yunho asks them to stay for a while, they said their farewell and promise Kyungsoo to come back again. That is when his father asks him about what he thinks about Kyungsoo then he pause for a while before he answers him.

 

The boy was not a threat at all, he realised. In fact, he is really charming, adorable but too innocent and pure. He is somehow easily to be wash and tricked when let outside their home. 

 

"He is okay for me.... i think." His father smile at the word Baekhyun said to him.

 

"He is innocent and dumb at a point I want to punch him in the face because he looks like an idiot not knowing what is a phone, or a t.v. or even a car is. He did even ask me what is the meaning f*uck when I was frustrated explaining some details about our world. Man he is too stupid!" Baekhyun exasperatedly pull the strand of his hair whining like a child. 

 

"Language Baek." His father reminds him and he sigh for the nth time.

 

"Sorry. What I want to say is, he is so clueless about anything and everything yet he smile so bright and warm. I don't like him at first but when I met him, my perspective about him chance and I kinda like him...a little." There was a small blush on Baekhyun when he said he liked him that makes the older man smile to himself. This time, his father ruffles his hair as he looks at his son. 

 

"You do understand when I said he is special right?" His father asks of him when they are near the portal boundaries.

 

"m'not sure but, when I tasted his blood, there is a taste and smell that I can't explain... Its hard to distinguish but that is quiet alluring and addictive. It makes me powerful and want to crave more but.... I was also scared." Baekhyun shrug the creepy feeling that he have when he realized what he have done earlier.

 

"You know, that what hybrids can do. They can amplify or makes you stronger than any other creatures when you have drink their blood and even acquire their ability once you have eaten their flesh. For his situation, he is a half vampire and half Fae but since his mother's vein is running through him, that makes him much stronger and attracts many prey. Even his own kind decided to keep the boy sealed at their home providing many restriction and charms to lock his presence. The gems all over the house was the evidence of it." His father exclaims. 

 

"But I thought eating other creatures especially those stronger than you ate prohibited." Baekhyun gasps at the information.

 

"It was. But the fact that it can kill you and crave for more powerful proves to be the side effect of it that makes some of the Fae's vanish from our world."His father turns around which he also copies.

 

"This portal is the one which makes it a sanctuary for the fewer Fae that survived the near the massive death. The only Fae surviving after the survival of the fittest was Kyungsoo's grandfather that gives his powers and strength when he was just still a baby. There are also other things that happened before that and I regret not attending to your mother's side, I am truly sorry." Mr. Byun looks at the sky.

 

"I explain that to your mother and even she didn't talk to me much, I knew that she understood it by chance." He pauses for a while and they both leave the place.

The time of visit from Baekhyun and his dad become more frequent and even Baekhyun himself went to the portal alone most of the time to spend his free time.

 

 When he was assigned to the group with Luhan having specialize to capturing some night dwellers, it make him guilty since he cannot meet with Kyungsoo. But he assure to make it toca point where in he will bring stuffs and books for Kyungsoo to keep himself busy. One time, Yunho asks a favor to him which he gladly took.

 

"Will you do me another favor Baek, for the last time." Yunho turns aroound to look at Baekhyun.

 

"Please.....can you look at Kyungsoo when I'm not around. I knew this is much but, I will be send into a mission soon and Minah will also not be around anymore since he will be married in the next few weeks. By that time, there will be no other person to look after him and I want you to be at his side. Will you do that for me?" Yunho pleads at Baekhyun since Kyungsoo is already informed about Baekhyun as his step brother and all. 

 

"No need to plead hyung. I would be glad to look after him. In fact, my father wants him also to be at our care when he turns at the right age. He might look as nearly twenty at human age but his Fae age is still young. I couldn't afford and wait till his Fae or vampire ability blooms so he can be with us." Baek stated. 

 

"I really hope I can witness that time. Thanks by the way." Yunho pats the other as appreciation and Baek shrug it off and said 'that's nothing' since he really likes taking care of the other.

 

Few days before Minah can get married, Baekhyun received a distress call from Luhan saying they have a mission near the forest where Baekhyun grows suspicious since the location is near the forest. That is when Luhan said that hey need to find a portal to another dimension that makes him more anxious since the place is near the Fae's territory. When Baekhyun asks about the said mission, it made him frozen for a while and his mind started to process at the words with heavy raindrop starting to fall.

 

"There will be an ambush in a specific place of very powerful creatures but the last portal is now blocked by a force. We can't pass through it." Luhan stated and Baekhyun realize what was happening.

 

"I know another way in, follow me!" Without another word, Baekhyun rushes through and Luhan, Suho and Xiumin follows. 

 

When Baekhyun and the others enters a specific place, the sky was ray with the smoke and blurred by the rain covers the greenfield. The usual loud and happy creatures are now scattered on the floor with lots of blood everywhere. There are also houses that are wrecked and no sign of life anywhere which makes Baekhyun to panic.

 

"Are we too late?" Xuimin asks. 

 

"Suho check for any signs of life while Xiumin and Baek.... wait up!!" Luhan tried to catch the brunette but he was fast and the two decided to follow him again.

 

'Please be okay. Please be okay.' He chant on his mind.

 

When he stop at a certain house, he saw the house with a wrecked windows and walls. He called out for the other.

 

"KYUNGSOO!! KYUNGIEE!!! It's me, your hyung!!" He rushes forward his room was now in a mess indicating a search was made.

 

"There is someone figthing nearby." Luhan caught his attention and he smell the familiar smell which he hadn't smell for many years then loud voices indicating there was a fight nearby.

 

"At the next portal" Baek announces and they rushes to the nearby portal which was near the lake, just a turn from the house.

 

When they arrived at the place, a strong smell of monsters blood and others are all mixed up in the air with a familiar person at the center.

 

"KYUNGSOO!!" Baekhyun shouts and caught his attention only to find out that the male was now in red hair and red eyes, battling the monsters on his own. When the male turns, that was the chance of the others monsters to attack him so Luhan decided to put a force field near him making the attackers fly on the opposite direction.

 

"Are you okay?" Baekhyun and the others are now situated near him while his brother started to calm the now shaking boy.

 

"H..hyung! They are all gone....Noona..and the others....." The Fae is now hugging his hyung and Baek can't help but to hug him back.

 

"Ssshh...it's okay.... hyung is here now... you are safe now." Baek reassure the other with tears prickling down his cheeks until the other is lulled down to sleep.

 

"Whoaa... is it really just him who defeated some of this hooligans?" They all saw some monsters and vampires are already lying on the ground, dead and some are struggling to break free from the barrier which Luhan creates. 

 

Some of the monsters are buried with only parts of their bodies are visible with pointy rocks having monsters are pierced on it. 

 

"Let's wrap this up alright?" Luhan announces.

 

"With pleasure." Baekhyun stands up and let Xuimin hold his brother while he fights.

"Why are we here again?" Chanyeol asks Baekhyun.

 

"To visit my brother you dimwit!" Baek spats at him.

 

"Oh...okay. Sorry." he bows down and pout like an oversize baby.

 

"Stop that and you do know that is a joke right?" He asks him by punching playfully to the giant.

 

"Stop being that mushy stuff, you both make me puke!" Tao jokes around with gagged gestures.

 

"Shut it or the last thing you will see will be me blinding you." Baek hissed.

 

"Come on, he is only joking right?" Chanyeol said when Baek turns around and the panda stiffen.

 

"No, he is really serious." Tao whines and holds a hem of Kris shirt that is chuckling on his side.

It was already a week after the incident and Kyungsoo is adjusting on his new home with the marks of previous tragedy to his kind. He knew that je was the only one who survived since there was no other Fae allowed to exit the portal by a spell.  

 

Baekhyun and his father done everything to make him feel at home but the misery still remains to the Fae. Especially when Baekbom make him felt unwelcome. He still blames the Fae for getting their mother killed and the Fae took its toll on him. 

 

But that is not what decides Baekhyun to leave his home and join Luhan to go full time on his job when he caught his brother mistreating his step brother when he was out on a mission. It was a turning point to him when he saw the large scar at Kyungsoo's back that is a sign of an abuse which he couldn't accept. His brother surely crossed the line for sure that makes them both to fall apart with a threat never to be brothers again. 

 

Now, after five years of separation, he have been inform about the gossips and lies that is planted to the people of their town as well as the threat to the town which he clearly knew that his brother should be the one dealing with it.

 

 

"Now, we will meet. My dear brother." Baekhyun mutters when he open the gate to their manor.
