My Prince

High School Prince

I turned around and probably flicked my hair into his face but it was Jacky. The annoying, scowling face of Jacky. The one whom I couldn't possibly ignore any longer and probably, loved.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"I asked first. Why aren't you at your Farewell Party?" I noticed that he was carrying a gift bag on his arm.

"Is that for me?" I pointed to the bag.

He blushed, while speaking, "of course. Now get back to your party." He grabbed me by the arm and dragged me back home.

"Damn it! Where are your frickin' shoes?!" Jacky sighed and took off his, letting me borrow them. He had socks on at least.

"Thanks," I mumbled. I wanted this moment to last as long as possible.

When I arrived home, my mother helped me re-apply my makeup and made me wash my feet.

"Sorry about the shoes..." I mumbled.

"No biggie," Jacky replied. "Hurry up and wash your feet. Everyone's waiting for you." He left the gift bag on my desk and was about to leave when I stopped him.

"Why aren't you at Lena's party? I thought your girlfriend was first..." I couldn't help but look down.

Jacky laughed. "Did you actually believe what I said?" I blushed, happy knowing that it wasn't anything.

"I had to say that because Lena was there," he also added.

I returned to the bathroom and hastled to get my feet nice and clean. It finally occurred to me that I wouldn't see Jacky anymore now. Well, not for a long time that is. I could visit... But the pain of this fact slowly sunk in. Why was I so slow at realizing this? I was finished by then and I quickly dried up and returned to the living room. Jacky was leaning casually against the wall, grinning at me. I tried to smile back, but I could tell Jacky didn't buy it.

"Com'on! Cheer up!" he encouraged me. The party, I believed was in full swing. I tried to enjoy it like he said but it didn't rid the feeling of sadness blooming inside of me.

After a few hours, the party was slowly coming to an end.

"Bye everyone!" There were tears and lots of hugs and many promises.

"Remember to come visit us Wendy!" I waved good bye to everyone.

"You can go home Jacky, and thanks for being here..." I was about to close the door on him when he stopped me.

"Hey, I'm not ready to leave yet." Jacky then took my hand and led me to a room. The storage room.

This used to be play room when Jacky often came over. You could still see crayon scribblings on the wall. Jacky proceeded to the back of the room and pushed aside a box. I gasped. Someone had wrote J+W = LOVE and there was a large red heart around it. I now realized that, that someone was me...

Jacky chuckled then. "You were trying so hard to erase it, then decided to cover it with a box. When I asked, you said that it was nothing. Obviously, I didn't believe you. When you left to go to the bathroom, I took a peek."

He smiled widely at me, his arms open. I couldn't help but collapse into them. He then pushed aside another box beside it. I was in total shock to see what it said on the wall...
