“Is everything alright?” Sehun inquired as he glanced up at me while twirling his glass of wine.

“Yes, why do you ask?” I mumbled placing my napkin on the table and setting my fork down.

“You’ve barely eaten and have been staring off into space the moment you stepped foot in this room. Is the food not to your liking?” he set down his glass and look at me uncertainty in his eyes.

I couldn’t tell him anything about Baekhyun and me. Of course I was upset about him taking my friendship for granted but letting Sehun know what I felt could put him in danger and despite my anger that wasn't a risk I was willing to take.

“No, it’s wonderful I just-“I tried to reassure him everything was fine but stopped another thought flooding into my mind “I’m just amazed by everything you have at the end of your fingertips,”

I wasn’t lying when I said that but I felt it was enough to cover my troubling thoughts. It was as if he owned the world and it amazed me. Ever since I was young I knew that no matter where you are in the world there will always be someone less fortunate than you as well as others who were even more blessed than you but Sehun seemed to be practically royalty.

“It’s not as amazing as you think,” he scoffed and gulped down the rest of his wine.

“Yes it is! Do you realize you could have anything you want at the flick of a wrist?!” I exclaimed stood up and walked toward him “Do you realize how blessed you are?”

“Jinae, if I could have exactly what I wanted do you really think I would be leading this kind of life?” his voice came out dark as he stood up and stepped towards me his hand grasping my cheek taking me by surprise.

His eye looked so cold as his eyes stared deep into mine. I remained silent as his face neared mine and I shut my eyes and turned my head.

“Thank you for proving my point so fully,” he growled the warmth of his hand leaving my cheek as I heard him storm out of the room. My heart ached as I heard the door down the hall shut.

Why did he do that?

I placed both my hand on the table and took a deep breath as I opened my eyes. He really got my heart going crazy when he looked at me that way. It was just nervousness though. Who wouldn’t feel nervous when a man who could have you killed approaches you like that? Then again though I did feel a bit upset that I had made him angry.

I sighed and pulled Baekhyun’s note out of my pocket using it as a distraction from Sehun’s mood.

“Liar” I scoffed as my eyes drifted across the “Your friend” part. I looked down at my watch and realized it was midafternoon. With Sehun angry with me I figured I was going to have to spend the rest of my day in solitude and headed towards my room.

I crumpled up the small note shoving it back down into my jeans pocket and made my way up the stairs but froze when I saw the figure walking down the stairs.

“Jinae am I right?” Taeyeon smirked as she crossed her arms and walked down the stairs to meet me half way “Now I know what was taking Sehun so long,”

“I’m sorry to have kept you waiting,” I bowed my head uncomfortable with her mocking stare.

“She speaks,” she laughed and covered “It’s fine though,” her tone turned serious “Just stop toying with his emotions. I promised him I wouldn’t harm you but if that continues it might just be a promise I’d be willing to break,”

I looked up with wide eyes. What on earth was she talking about?

“If anything he’s toying with my emotions,” I snapped and she let out and obnoxious laugh.

“Believe me if he was playing with your emotions he wouldn't be so keen on protecting you,” she smirked and twirled a strand of my hair around her finger “You have no idea,”

“Please stop,” I mumbled and she released my hair from her fingers.

“Oh am I making you uncomfortable? I’m sorry,” she snickered and crossed her arms again “I wouldn’t want to make the pet upset,”

"Are you afraid of me?" I scoffed at Taeyeon face grew dark in expression.

"Why would you suggest something so hilarious?" She quipped but I could see the insecurity in her eyes.

"Because it seems to me only those who are scared feel the need to threaten," I said with all the venom I could muster.

I had been brought here against my will. Seen a man murdered in cold blood. Had been betrayed by a friend whom I thought I knew and she thought she could threaten me over some petty territorial whim.

"Keep your distance from him" she snarled and I suppressed a laugh.

"It is not me who must try to stay away from him but he who must try to stay away from me, since it seems to be such a challenge for him" I replied earning a hard s
