Guilty?

My Thai Prince

She was lost in her thoughts and stood confused for a moment. A little boy dressed in white appeared before her eyes. He was smiling like a regular sweet and innocent boy would do. Yuri couldn’t help but smirk back in responds, even if she didn’t know him at all.

“Come play with me. I’m bored,” he called before dragging Yuri towards the swings.

“Who is this boy?” she thought to herself. “Why am I here?” This felt so odd, but she continued on with it anyways. As she pushed the cute little boy on the playground’s swing, she noticed how familiar he appeared. His light hair, his soft eyes and his small nose reminded her of… Nichkhun. That’s it! The boy looked almost exactly like him, but it was still strange. Who was the boy’s mother? Perhaps… “Me?” she spoke up quietly. “Aniya, Nichkhun’s wife is…”

“Omma!” The boy cried out joyfully. Yuri lifted her head to find Victoria hand in hand with her husband. They approached their son with open arms. Yuri felt a tingle in her heart. Seeing their family in peace made her feel guilty of ruining it.

She jumped back to reality. Everything looked more realistic now. It was only a dream. Thankfully, Nichkhun didn’t have a son. What a relief! That was some weird thing to dream about… Her head was slightly turning in circles for whatever reason. Why was she in a hospital again? Her brother neared her son with anxiety.

“Yuri-ah! What happened to you?” he asked worriedly.

“Did something happen? I don’t remember a thing?” Everyone looked at each other in concern.

“Wait a second… Do you remember anything at all? Do you remember me?”

“Of course I do. You’re Taec oppa.” He began to point at everyone else in the room.

   “How about them?”

“Oppa, I don’t have amnesia. Here I’ll prove it. She’s Yoona, he’s Choi Minho, she’s Victoria Song and he’s…” Yuri stopped at Nichkhun. She didn’t want to say his name. They weren’t supposed to have any sort of relationship. Minho began to panic.

“What? You don’t remember him? Can’t you remember Nichkhu…”

“Na do ar-ah-yo! I know. You don’t need to tell me.” Nichkhun remained quiet, considering Yuri’s request near the sowing machine. Victoria watched the scene annoyed. They were making it obvious. Her hatred for Yuri remained unchanged. Yuri infuriated her through every extent for making out with HER husband, but showing her irritation wouldn’t help at all. She sat on the bed beside the injured patient and touched her head wrapped in bandages. Even if Yuri felt Victoria’s wrath somehow flaming towards her, she gave her a friendly beam.

"I hope that you’re doing alright."

“But I really don’t understand. I last remembered being in the garden, but other than that, I don’t recall a thing.” Taec spoke before anyone could reply.

“Victoria-sshi was the one who found you lying on the snow. It was a good thing she did. Your head was bleeding and you lost a lot of blood in the process,” he explained.

“Bleeding? My head got hit?” she asked perplexed. Victoria took the lead and gave her hypothesis.

“You probably hit your head on something.” Her voice was filled with vagueness. Luckily for her, nobody noticed her imprecision. Only Yoona remained skeptical. Her glare burned a hole in Victoria’s thoughts. She could feel her own heart pound through her chest. Yoona gazed away, but still felt something suspicious in that “princess”. She acted too ‘nice’ to her taste.

“Ah, well in any case, thank you for saving me Victoria unni. This is the second time you spared my life. Komawo!”

Minho enjoyed her optimism and sat beside her. He kissed her cheek cutely. This made Nichkhun, as quiet as he was, furious. Even trying to remind himself about Yuri’s words didn’t allow him to rid of his jealousy.

“As long as you’re all right now, it doesn’t matter what happened before,” he assured. Yuri raised her eyebrows and blushed at his action. She scratched her head as everyone stood in awkwardness. Nobody liked what Minho did, except for Victoria. It amused her.

“You two are so cute together. Have you not considered getting married? I mean you’re old enough to do so, right?” she commented randomly. Minho smiled and put an arm around her shoulder.

“I would, but Yuri would have to accept as well,” he added jokingly.

“Aniyo!” shouted Nichkhun abruptly. Everyone looked at him oddly. He hadn’t uttered a word since his entrance, and this shout came out of the blue. He himself was surprised. It wasn’t as if he meant to do it.

“Why not?” questioned Victoria, curious to know what his justification was. There was silence. Nichkhun couldn’t answer. He felt numb and baffled at the moment. The thought of them in the living room locked in a loving kiss was the only thing he could think of. He thought that he had settled with Victoria already. Why was he falling for Yuri all over again?

A doctor entered the room and broke the tight atmosphere. He lifted his glasses higher up his nose and glanced at everyone around the room. He got a glimpse at the patient smiling on the bed.

   “Oh! You’re up!”

“Ye, of course,” she answered boldly.

   “How are you feeling?”

“I’m feeling alright, just a bit dizzy, but in all, I feel fairly good. Do you know what happened to me? Nobody seems to know.”

“Well, obviously you know that you’ve been hit on the head with something.” Yuri tried to remember what happened, but she just couldn’t recall a single detail.

“Wait a minute. Are you sure that I didn’t hit my head somewhere? That’s what I was told.”

“That was also our initial explanation. However, according to the condition of your scalp, it was more likely that something hit you. We aren’t sure what exactly, but we are certain that it was something hard, such as metal. Either way, you can leave today once your headache clears up.” Everyone remained in confusion. “You were really lucky. You got hit on a more or less sensitive part of the head. If you got hit any harder, you could’ve fractured your scalp even more which would’ve possibly affected your parietal or occipital lobes,” he said before leaving. Yuri thanked the doctor at his exit. Minho began to think carefully.

“What could’ve possibly hit Yuri?” he questioned.

Victoria became anxious. In reality, she knew exactly what had happen.

*Flashback*

Victoria held the shovel up in a dangerous matter. Yuri, still sitting in the snowy garden, mumbled prayers. Her eyes were closed at her fingers were folded together. It was the perfect opportunity to eliminate her. Victoria got ready to give a powerful hit. As the end of the shovel came in contact with the back of her head, Yuri fell to the ground, going unconscious. Victoria wanted to give another whack at it to make sure she would never wake up again, but something stopped her. She couldn’t seem to go through with it. She fell to her knees in despair. Her hands pushed Yuri’s hair and felt the warm and fresh blood squeezing through her fingers.

“Victoria, what on earth do you think you’re doing? This isn’t right. This isn’t like you!” She backed away, with her legs shaking furiously. “Aniyo, you’re not a monster. What has gotten into you?” repeated the woman before running back to the shed and throwing the shovel back in its place. Her kinder nature took over as she went inside to get her husband. She found him still sitting near the sowing machine.

“Nichkhun oppa! Something happened to Yuri! I-I found her on the garden floor. She’s bleeding all over!”

He came back to his senses and reacted.

“What have I done?” she asked herself when making her way to the garden with her husband.

*End of flashback*

She didn’t know whether she regretted it or not. She didn’t like Yuri anymore than previously. It just felt somewhat bittersweet to save her. The evil side of her sprung up once again.

“Enough of this. We can’t dwell on something so insignificant. Yuri is fine, and that’s all that matters,” stated Victoria. She came closer to the cheerful patient. “Yuri-sshi, since you can leave today, why don’t we do something fun to clear your head up?” Yuri lifted her eyebrows.

   “Like what?”

“Nichkhun-sshi and I are planning on having children sometime soon,” she began proudly. “So, I was wondering if you could come with me to get a few things for the future baby and other supplies I could use during my pregnancy.”

“Yah!” shouted Yoona angrily. “What on earth are you saying? What kind of offer is that?”

“Victoria, Yoona does have a point,” supported Nichkhun with irritation. He didn’t remember even talking about having children with his wife. This was nonsense that came out of nowhere.

“What? It’ll be fun.” Yuri could feel Victoria trying to make her envious. The way she put everything to the table made her sound like she was saying this to deliberately annoy her. Even so, Yuri wanted to stay strong and ignore her motives. The only thing bothering her now was Victoria’s motives for saving Yuri. She was well aware that Victoria didn’t like her at all. If she didn’t appreciate her very much, why would she save her then?

“Okay! I’ll go,” confirmed Yuri. This made Victoria smile, but Yuri felt awful. This reminded her of the dream she had previously. Nichkhun having a baby with Victoria gave her a bitter taste of disgust, even in the dream. The only reason pushing her to accept was the fact that Victoria saved her life again. Refusing would be rude.

Nichkhun walked through the garden while both girls went shopping for his ‘child’. The spots where Yuri’s blood was melted the snow underneath it. He wanted to know what could’ve hit her. Who could’ve done such a thing?

He went over what the doctor had said about the hit: Something hard like metal must’ve swung across her head. He explored around the backyard a little. The only things he could find were plants covered by a thin layer of snow. None of those could’ve done the trick, that’s for sure. Nichkhun spotted a small tool house in the corner of the yard. Surely, there were objects in there that could’ve hurt someone if the culprit left his weapon behind. He opened it’s lock quite easily and looked inside. Seemingly thrown inside rapidly, a shovel covered in drops of blood laid on the top of everything else.

“This is it.” He confirmed while fishing it out of the pile. Observing it attentively, he couldn’t help but wonder who would’ve done it. Who hated Yuri so much that he or she would be willing to hurt her to this extent?

“Taecyeon? Obviously no.

Yoona? Not likely.

Minho? He wouldn’t ever lay a finger on Yuri.

A neighbor? Probably not. From his memory, they all loved her very much.

Victoria? No… Wait…

Possibly… Most probable.

I know that some things are better left unsaid, letting readers to further weave the story on their own... But author, don't you think you owe us, readers when we used up so much tissue paper? Because of you, so many of us cried... Because of you, so many trees died... Anyway, just joking... ^^ I'll still respect your decision...

Wow! Frankly speaking, this is the 1st fanfic that made me accept & love KhunRi even though I'm a MinYul shipper... Just want to let you know that your writing skill & English is good, no worries. Your plot is even more fantastic! Made me cried along when Yuri was undergoing cancer treatment, cried even more when the couple was met with so much difficulties, made me hated Victoria, the vicious wife but I'm glad she turned good in the end.I'm hoping that you would consider writing this story? The ending was good but it would be better if Nichkhun's parents could accept Yuri... Maybe a wedding scene with YoonYul? ^^
