When he had gotten over his initial shock—and had gotten another view of the shimmering purple tail that flicked out of the water once as the young man adjusted himself to keep alongside the slowly-moving ship—his brain had been flooded with questions, none of which he got to ask because the grinning face had disappeared immediately when the captain had come out on deck.

It wasn’t until a few nights later, when he was outside by himself once more, that he saw him again, and the first thing out of his mouth was, “Aren’t you supposed to be singing and luring me to my death or something?”

"I’m not a siren,” Jihoon scoffed, and then his face reddened a little, “Besides, my singing is a little…”
