Six

 

 

Eunji grabbed her bag from her locker and pushed through the crowded corridors. School had finally ended although that commenced her daily routine of rushing to the neighbourhood cafe where she worked. She only had around 10 minutes to get there after school though today seemed to be special since students seemed to be more hurried than usual. She desperately tried to go against the flow of students who were pushing too much for their own good.

 

"Ah!" she heard a girl yelp as she lost her balance. With one swift movement, Eunji managed to find the girl and try to help her up.    "Are you okay?" she half-screamed through the loud noise, offering a hand to the girl. The girl took it gratefully and pulled herself up. "Thanks," the girl mouthed, knowing it was barely possible to hear anything through the noise.   Eunji smiled and began to go on her way, until she felt someone's body shoved against her own. She stumbled back and hit her arm against the window's ledge.   "Ah! Sorry!" Jonghyun said with a smirk.    Eunji grimaced and rubbed her arm painfully. The pain was the least of her problems. She had to get to her part time job, fast!   The students were all well informed that the karaoke store was having a major discount and they all wanted to get a room. Probably explains why the corridors were bustling in excitement. Eunji was in the middle of her battle until a thought crossed her mind.   !   Eunji had almost forgotten about the clothes she had left at the infirmary. She groaned, turned around and pushed her way back.    "Ahjumma! I need my clothes!" she shouted as she pulled the door to the infirmary open.   "Ne! I'll be right there!" Mrs Choi yelled from one of the rooms. A few moments later, she arrived with Eunji's uniform bundled in her hands.    "Sorry Ahjumma, I dont have time to change into them today," she said as she took the uniform. "I'll bring the one's I'm wearing back tomorrow, promise!"   Eunji gave a quick bow before plunging back into the crowd, making sure to close the door behind her so that the ahjumma wouldn't have to suffer from hearing loss.   Eunji shoved her clothes hastily into her bag. By now, Eunji barely had 5 minutes to get to the cafe, and it took at least 7 minutes if she ran. Maybe she would have to give herself a work out today. When she got outside, she burst into a sprint. Who cares if she looked stupid, she had somewhere to go.   ----

 

"Hey Luhan, come with us to karaoke today," Baekhyun said happily. "I'll let you hear my singing!"   "Yeah, his singing is no joke, Kyungie and Chen's as well" Kai added. "There's a special discount today and we gotta get there fast to get a room."   Luhan beamed at the offer. "Okay!"he said excitedly. Luhan loved the fact that he and his newfound friends were already going somewhere together.   Kris laughed and ruffled Luhan's hair. "You need to let us hear your singing too. You sound like you would be a great singer."   Luhan blushed and slapped Kris playfully on the arm. The giant flinched in surprise, causing the group to burst out in laughter.   Suddenly, a figure swept past them, so fast that it could've been mistaken for the wind.   "Woah, what the hell was that," Chanyeol said in shock. "Was I the only one who felt that?"   Luhan stared at the back of the all too familiar girl, her brown locks blowing powerfully behind her from the wind. And damn, she needed to get somewhere fast. Luhan chuckled as Eunji literally disappeared into the distance.    "Was that a human?" Xiumin said in slight horror.   "Maybe she really wants to get the karaoke room?" Sehun suggested a theory.   The others frowned.   "Now that I think about it, maybe we should be hurrying too" Lay reminded the group, as several other students surpassed them.    "Yah, yah! Let's go!" Suho yelled as he ran forward and beckoned towards the group. Everyone laughed and began to run, forming a stampede of 12 that could've been noticed from afar. ----

 

Eunji had finally made it to the small neighbourhood cafe. She was breathless from running and needed a desperate drink of water since was parched dry. She pushed the glass door open and staggered her way behind the counter, swallowing dryly.   "Boss, I'm sorry I'm late," she said tiredly to the man making several cups of coffee at once.   "Yah, how many times have I told you not to be late? The other worker already left. Hurry up and change into your uniform," the man ordered.   She nodded before walking into the back room of the store. As she changed, she noticed the swelling bruise on her arm and frowned. She pulled on her white shirt, pants and apron and hurried out the door.   "Eunji, one latte and one cappuccino for table 6, hurry!" Mr Kim yelled.   Eunji hurriedly washed her hands and began to work, although sneakily grabbing a drink of water before she began to heat the milk. ---

 

Eunji untied the apron and neatly placed it on a shelf. 
"Eunji-ah, don't be late next time. You gave me way too much pressure earlier," Mr Kim joked.   Eunji lowered her head. "I'm sorry boss."   Mr Kim smiled and patted her on the shoulder.
