Twenty

 

Eunji buried her head in Jungkook's shoulder as he continued to gently her hair. She didn't really take notice of their intimate position. Jungkook was aware of how close their bodies were, however, and on the inside he felt as if he owned the world at that very moment.  Though it still hurt his heart to see Eunji so upset and he wanted to know what made this strong girl break down.

  "Hey! Where did that damn boy go?!" a coarse voice shouted from outside.   Jungkook looked towards the door and they both realized there was a customer. Eunji quickly pulled away, looking down at her feet and trying to maintain her sniffles. Jungkook stared at her for a moment, contemplating on whether to stay with her or not. In the end he knew their boss would get mad for bad service and knew that he couldn't risk losing the job.   "I'll be right back okay?" Jungkook said with a soothing rub on the shoulder.   Eunji nodded and Jungkook immediately rushed out the door.   Eunji watched as the door closed with a click. She took an unstable breath and pushed open the girl's changing rooms, hoping that Naeun had already left. To her dismay, Naeun's head instantly turned towards her direction, her hands still busy with putting her make-up products back into her bag.   "Ah! Eunji-ah!!" Naeun quickly zipped up the bag and hurried to the girl.    Are you okay?! What's wrong?" Naeun asked worriedly, instantly attending to Eunji and checking her from top to bottom. "Did you get hurt? Where?"   Eunji shook her head as she wiped away an escaping tear. "No, I didn't g-get hurt."   Naeun sighed in relief. "Thank goodness.  I'm already running a bit late. Tell me if you need anything when you see me around okay? You better tell me what happened after our shift." Naeun winked playfully in hopes of lightening the mood.   Eunji smiled and nodded. Naeun gave her a small hug before rushing out the door.   Slowly, Eunji edged towards her locker, clicking the tiny door open and tugging out her black dress. She felt so drained, it was hard to stay focused. She slumped on one of the wooden benches and looked up at the mirror, almost gasping at what she saw. Her face was a mess, bloodshot eyes and a red nose, tears that crusted down her cheeks. She couldn't believe people saw her like this; she looked absolutely horrible.   With a sad sigh, Eunji tugged on her dress at an unbelievably slow speed before taking out a brush and smoothing down her hair. After the time she spent getting ready, the redness on her face had decreased dramatically and was barely visible. She figured that in the darkness of the club, customers could hardly tell. Shoving her school uniform in her locker, Eunji pushed open the door and walked out into the main club area.   Jungkook turned around the instant he heard the door open.    "Eunji-ah! I'm sorry I couldn't get back to you, there was suddenly a load of orders!" he shouted, hands pouring drinks, year long experience evident seeing that he didn't even need to look where he was pouring.   Eunji shook her head and smiled, walking closer to the counter. "It's okay, I was changing anyway."   Jungkook gave a relieved smile.    "Do you have any drinks for me to serve?" Eunji asked, forcefully acting as if she was okay.   "Are you sure?" Jungkook looked at her worriedly.   "Of course, this is my job Jungkook," Eunji laughed, though it was pretty lifeless.   Jungkook looked hesitant though he gradually pulled out a tray from below the counter, dozens of drinks laid out in perfect rows.    "Be careful," Jungkook said as handed over the tray in which Eunji gladly took.    She was used to the heavy load of trays, since months of carrying them eventually leading to her developed arm strength.    "Thank you."    Eunji expertly balanced the tray on one arm befo
