Chapter 1 - Part 2

Taeyeon

I wipe the tears from my eyes. I’m alive and that’s the most important thing. I’m in my senior year in SM college and up for a marketing position at a prestigious company called Lunatic. I have great friends and a boyfriend who loves me. Well I think he loves me. GD is a great boyfriend but lately we’ve been fighting. At first we would have simple disagreements, but now those disagreements are escalating and his temper is getting the best of him. He controls every aspect of my life and I want to walk away but I can’t. I don’t think GD will ever let me go. His room is in my buildings and he’s always popping up. I hate that I continuously under his eyes, this is not how love is supposed to be but I’m stuck.

I get up from my bed and decide to start getting ready for class. I put on a pair of jeans and a black round neck sweater. I have a natural beauty and hate makeup, but today I apply mascara, blush and some gloss on my lips. I put on my black Chanel scarf and put on my Chanel jacket. I give myself a quick check in the mirror and head out for class. It’s December and luckily no snow in LA yet. It’s freezing outside but the walk to my class isn’t too bad of a walk.

As I enter the building I see Jessica chatting away with a group of friends. I still remember the day we became friends. It was the first day of freshmen orientation and I saw this petite blond hair coming my way. I thought she’d mistaken me for someone else so I turned around and started walking away.

“Hey!”

I turned around and saw her smile, “Um hi?” the question in my tone sound like a snob but I didn’t know how else to answer her.

“I’m Jessica. It’s nice to meet you! I love your outfit! Oh My God! We need to go shopping together.”

We’ve been friends ever since.

“Well hello beautiful.” She gives me a quick hug and smiles at me,

“Where are you going now?”

I point over to the classroom on the right handside, “History. World War II, you know the fun stuff.”

She rolls her eyes, “I don’t even know why you’re taking that class. You’re like done with everything so why bother.”

“One it’s a very interesting class and two I like to learn new things.”

“Learn everything from GD yet?”

The evil smirk on her face makes me laugh. I look back and see her waiting patiently for my answer. “No, nothing new,” I laugh, looking down.

“How are you a twenty one year old ? Tae, you need to work on that or something! No wonder you’re always so mad.” She starts laughing and I want to crawl under the floor and disappear. Yes GD and I aren’t having but we do other things. He tries to convince me we should take our relationship to the next level every time we’re together. It kills me that he doesn’t understand. I tell him that I’m not ready and at first he understood, but now it’s just another argument. He throws it in my face that he can get any girl on campus to have with him. He makes feel little and I hate it. I know I can break up with him but something always pulls me back to him.

“Funny.” I shrug my shoulders.

“You’re lucky you’re my best friend. But I got to get to class, talk to you later.”

We give each other another hug and I go to class. I make my way to the back of the classroom and get ready for class to start. Students are slowly making their way into class. The room is fairly large with windows all over. It’s nice to look out and watch the world pass you by during a boring lecture. Today we’re discussing imprisonment, so fun.

I pull out my notebook from my purse when I see Sehun come into the room. My breathing stops and I feel my heart pounding. Our eyes meet and there’s something in his eyes that I can’t figure out. A smile forms on my face and he does his y head nod indicating “hey” in that cool way. I want him near me. I want us to be friends again. Our eyes are still on one another. The look that’s on his face brings back so many memories.

We used to spend so much time together. Kris joked around with us all the time and kept telling us to make it official. Sehun never said no but he didn’t say yes either. We laughed it off and never talked about it. We did everything together. Every memory I had involved Sehun and Kris. I hated sleeping alone so Sehun spent the nights with me in my room. He slept on the floor at first but when we got a little older he crawled into my bed with me. Nothing happened. We just talked.

As soon as Dr. John comes into class he takes Sehun into the hall. I wonder what’s going on. I try and peek out but they’re so quiet and everyone in class is loud so I can’t hear anything. Finally Dr. John comes back into class, without Sehun, and starts his lecture.

When he dismisses class, I hurry out the room. I send a text to Jessica so that we can meet for coffee. My body suddenly freezes and I feel someone watching me. I slowly turn around and see Sehun behind me. Why did he have to transfer here to my school? Why does he have to come back and turn my life upside down? My eyes are ready to pop out of my head. I don’t know what to say to him or what to do. He gets in front of me and I can’t talk. His face inches from mine. Our eyes connect and it’s a feeling no one can ever describe.

“Hey Tae.” He smiles at me. “It was good seeing you in class. Sorry I couldn’t talk but maybe next time.”

He places his hand on my shoulder and gives me a gentle squeeze and walks towards the gym. My body is on fire. With just one touch, my mind is spinning in circles. He turns back around, “You look beautiful by the way,” he says before turning back around. Oh . My face is flushed as I walk away and head to the student center to meet up with Jessica.
