Orange and Blues

Something Like, Bubblegum

Kyungsoo was uncertain about seeing his feet dangling up high, with no ground to step on as they seated on the edges of the rooftop. He looked below their feets, seeing that it was quite lucky for them to be located at the most unpopulated part of the school, or someone would be screaming at them, which will make him even nervous.

It has been a habit for him and Kai to go up to the rooftop, and enjoy every sunset in each day. Kai also loves how the wind hits his skin, and how it reminds him of the first day they were in this place. Kyungsoo trained himself to sit on the fences, and endures his small fear just to be with Kai.

The sun was above the horizon, their eyes slowly following it down to the darkness, the skies were already a gradient of bright orange to blues. The stars above them started appearing, while the birds rested on the trees started scattering like a scene in a peaceful paradise.

As the small one got his breath locked at the sunset, Kai got his eyes on him. He would always be mesmerized by Kyungsoo's very cute and unique features. His eyes, his lips, his cheeks, and his tiny shoulders, it makes Kai go weak on his knees. He smiles at every thought, because he never thought he will be in love.

"What is the the thing that you hate seeing the most?" Kai wonders, trying to seep in behind Kyungsoo's fascination.

Kyungsoo gave an confused expression, but answered anyway."Well—I hate cruelty the most. I hate physical fights and all."

Kai nods, seemingly to agree to his friend's thought. They went back to the view, seeing the sun was halfway through.

That day all started when something really bad happened to him, that he had no place to go but was to be in the library. Where he think is quiet, and where he thinks there is nothing else but reading and being boring. At least that barricades him from all the things he left behind outside.

"Hi." He approaches the librarian, somehow familiar to his idea. He reads the tag of his uniform, pronouncing his name in an additional greeting. "Hi, Mr. Junmyeon."

The guy lowers his eyeglasses and looks at Kai with his head still angled to the book, his stare appearing serious and scary. "I'm also a student, don't 'mister' me."

Kai nods with an inexplicable face, playing with his sweaty hands. "Well, may I ask for where is the astronomy section?"

Junmyeon, the librarian, finally removes his glasses and dabbed his cheeks a couple of times before swooning. He looks back to Kai with a bright smile, making Kai even more confused of the person he was talking to. "It's on the sixth shelves. Both sides are astronomy." He answers, bringing up so much merriment in his response.

Kai had his facial features all messed up as he walks away from the counter, talking to himself on how that guy changed from being creepy to an angel-like smiling machine.

He walks to the shelves Junmyeon directed, scanning through books, finding something new, or old, that he has never read. He stood at a section his guts told him to find a book, and he found one but it was at the section behind. He was about to pull it, until someone withdraws it from the other side.

He keep staring at the space, trying to figure out who that person was. Kai then crouched looked in to the space, seeing big round eyes staring at him. He smiled and stood up, and made his way to the other side to greet the latter. As he reached his section, he slowly approached the guy with the big, round eyes.

"Hey." Kai called him.

The small one shifted his angle and looked at Kai, staring weirdly like something was going on in his mind.

"Can I borrow that book?" He pointed at the book the small guy was holding, looking straight in to his eyes.

He slowly withdrew the book from his tight grip, and handed it over to Kai, which his hand seems to be shaking. Kai smiled at smirked, proceeding to scanning the book. After some time, he smiles and closes the book, the guy still on his last position.

"Thanks. I'm staying to read, are you too?" He asks as he put up another bright smile, his voice trying to cover up all the bad things that happened lately.

"Yeah." The first word came out from the guy's voice, and as his label names him, he was Kyungsoo.

Kai couldn't stop staring at Kyungsoo's face, and for the very first time he fell in love immediately. He took Kyungsoo by the wrist and walked him to a great spot in the library, where all sides where windows and it was a great view of the school's large garden. They took a seat, Kai considering that there was no one but the two of them in that spot, making it a perfect time to know each other.

"I'm sorry. How stupid am I." Kai said as he took his own seat. "I'm Jongin, or Kai. Your choice."

"Kai," Kyungsoo repeated in a hum, eyes seems to be wandering over him.

Kai puffed a breath and looked at Kyungsoo side by side if he's okay. "It's Kai, then." His voice sounded in between of almost laughing and a little worried.

That moment lasted six of non-stop conversation, even it was just short talks about several topics, they had a good time knowing each other. Kai discovered that they were on the same grade, and he knew that Kyungsoo loves astronomy. Kai also revealed that he saw Kyungsoo before, placing a letter before on a someone's bag, which Kyungsoo shrugged off and denied that it never happened. Kyungsoo then knew that he was a part of the school's dance troupe, he likes hanging out in the bar just to relax his bones from school, but he protests that he barely drinks without any occasion, and that he has an astronomy discussion in science class later, that's why he borrowed the book.

Kyungsoo first left the library, leaving Kai behind the library. He said that he will be catching up on his friends, which Kai agrees to stay behind. As he gets out of the wooden two-way door, he breathes better, squeezing his relaxed hands several times. He know he still has troubles in his mind, but he never knew it'll be washed out by such cute guy in just six hours. He kept the thoughts for a while and walked to his class, thinking that it may help him calm down for a while.

After the sunset viewing, Kai and Kyungsoo were separated. Even though Kai insisted to skip his evening class, Kyungsoo insists back to attend it and promised that they'll do it again tomorrow. Kai smiled at that fact, and obediently went to his class. On the other hand, Kyungsoo went to his room to have an alone time.

He reaches their dorm, seeing no signs of Baekhyun and Luhan. Though there were signs of them, and it was the mess they left behind. Whip cream, whip cream and whip cream over their bunkers. Luckily they didn't messed with Kyungsoo's bunker, or he'd set the school on fire.

He throws himself on to his bed, searching some stuffs to do in his bag. He one by one withdrew his books and notebooks, until one catched his eye.

"Diary." Says the front cover of a blue notebook he just pulled out.

He was fleeting from decisions of opening and keeping it for the owner's respect, but it was hard to resist because he had kept it for a long time, treasuring it for no reason.

He ends up opening it, stopping on a random page to scan what was inside.

Dear Diary,

It's Thursday today. And I'm going straight to the point. The reason I'm writing this because I witnessed a cruel fight on the boy's washroom. I wasn't included in it, but seeing all the blood and hearing all the banging on the counters, on the walls, and on all the cubicle doors still creeps me. It was between Yixing hyung and a guy I don't know the name—and I would never be eager enough to know it. Everything flashes back in an instance. I don't know. Maybe I'll talk this to myself. Thanks, Diary.

He switches to another page, a few turns away from the first entry he read.

Dear Diary,

The guy who fought with Yixing hyung was out again, and this time he is in another fight. I didn't know the name of the guy he was fighting but it was the same scene, blood and loud noises. It was on the garden, luckily the guard quickly stopped them or it will be as worse as before.

Kyungsoo starts to wonder to himself who was that guy, and why does that things happen. He never heard of those issues at school before, making him more curious of the case. It seems like the diary wants him to drag in to a mystery.
