Face to Face (One shot series)How many times? How many times must this happen?
She sat alone watching the sun slowly peek over the horizon.
It was the same thing every day. She never slept; she couldn’t anyways even if she tried. Sleep never came to her.
“Hey.”
“I miss it,” She said.
“What exactly is it you miss?” She let out a sigh. “The feeling of waking up after a good night of sleep.” She tucked her hair behind her ears and waited for the response to come.
“It’ll all come back…I’m sure it will.” She softly chuckled at the response.
“I’m afraid it won’t,” She said, “I’m just so restless…why do you think I can’t sleep? She turned her head to the figure next to her.
“I wouldn’t know an exact answer to that now would I?” The figure raised their eyebrow. “But if I were to assume, is there anything on your mind just eating away at you? Or can you just not sleep?”
She remained silent at the question. “I guess something is just eating away at me,” She finally said.
“Would you care to explain?” A faint smile spread across her lips.
“Guilt is just eating at me. I know it’s not my fault…she even told me it wasn’t but I can’t help feeling this immense amount of guilt.”
