"Make sure you get to your grandmother's house safely. Don't forget when you get to the fork in the road to go right. Your grandmother always told us stories about dangerous creatures lurking in that part of the forest," Amber's mother strictly reminded her.

"I know, I know, I've been there before," Amber reassured her. Her mother smiled at her brave daughter. She handed Amber her red hoodie before she left the house.

“Be safe Little Red Riding Hood,” her mother called out to her from the open window.

“Mom, don’t call me that!” Amber shouted, embarrassed at the nickname she received when she was little. She would always wear red and the name stuck with her.

Okay, so go to Grandma's house, give her the medicine, and then I'm free to do what I want, Amber thought as her motivation to make this trip quick.

Amber walked down the street of her neighborhood up until a forest. Why does Grandma live so far from everyone else? She asked herself though she already knew the answer to that.

She took a step into the forest, a chill running down her spine. It wasn't her first time going into the forest, but each time she always felt a wave of uneasiness rush through her. The forest was peaceful and beautiful. People knew not to abuse nature in her town, and so everyone contributed to leaving the forest alone.

The only person who lived there was her grandmother. Amber wasn't sure as to why besides that her Grandma supposedly lived there when she was young and decided to spend the rest of her days in that home.

As Amber walked silently on the path, she noticed a dark shadow deep in the forest. Her mind began to wonder to event that happened months ago in this forest.

Xiumin rested his back against the bark of a tall, luscious tree. He was peacefully nibbling on an apple that he had picked off from the tree. A fleeing color of red whipped past his eyes.

"Ah, she's here again," Xiumin said out loud. He eyed her as she clumsily stepped over the bumpy path towards her grandmother's house. She had her hood up, making it frustrating for Xiumin to catch a glimpse of her face.

Without knowing he began leaning forward to look at her longer as the image of her slowly disappeared from his sight. He lost balance and stumbled forward, dropping his half-eaten apple onto the ground. "Oops," he mumbled. Not wanting to eat the dirty apple, he dug up a hole and tossed the apple into it. That way it won't go to waste and maybe later on it'll grow into a tree.

Xiumin looked up and saw that the girl in red had spun around and was starring directly at home. Xiumin's breathing hitched, he wasn't expecting the girl to take notice of him. But her expression turned into one of fear as she began run in the opposite direction.

Before she knew it she was at the fork in the road that her mother was telling her about before she left. She wracked her brain to remember which way her mother had told her to go. She cursed under her breath, completely forgetting. She exhaled and turned left. She had to take her chances and hope that this was going the right way.

From behind, she had no idea she was being followed. Xiumin was keeping watch. She's going the wrong way! That way led to a place with dangerous creatures that would give her no mercy. Xiumin ran towards her without thinking of the consequences of revealing himself. He quickly caught up with her and grabbed her wrist. "Wrong way," he told her.

Amber gasped, startled that there was another person there. She turned to see a boy, not that much older than her, holding onto her wrist. She opened to thank the stranger for informing her of her wrong turn, but closed it once examining his appearance.

He had pointy ears on top of his head, and his fingers hand claws protruding from it. His bare feet also had protruding claws. And from the corner of her eyes she could see a tail hanging from his back side. Other than the rest of him looking like an ordinary teenage boy, he resembled a wolf.

Xiumin's eyes widened after realizing what he had done. His instincts told him to attack her. They told her to eat her right there, right then. His eyes darkened into a deep black as an intimidating growl escaped his throat. He tackled her onto the hard ground, only inches away from tearing at her flesh. But the terrified look on her face stopped him. He froze; he didn't have the power to hurt such a person.

True, he had no idea who she was. But he's seen her multiple of times. He admired her courage to come out here by herself. And her innocent face attracted him to her. He liked how she’d always wear that red hoodie. The way she would sometimes hum and how she'd trip over a large rock, but able to catch herself before falling. Everything about her caught his attention. If he hurt she would never come back.

He whimpered like a hurt animal. He jumped up off her and dashed on four legs to retreat into the forest. Amber remained frozen on the ground. She eyes followed him as his figure couldn't be seen anymore.

Amber shook her head, not wanting to remember such melancholic things. Even if that time had happened differently, the ending would remain the same. A tear slid down her cheek. She paused on her tracks, allowing her to compose herself.

She knew that he would keep an eye on her every time she came. She could just sense his eyes on her back. He would guide her out of the forest whenever she got lost. But he would never reveal himself. She wanted to see him; wanted to touch him; wanted to speak to him.

After that day it took her while to figure out why he had ran off and why she should avoid him. If their lives would connect in some way, it would end badly. Someone would get hurt. Either he would get killed, or Amber would be the one killed by him. It took every inch of her rationality to fight running into the forest to meet that dark shadow.

What she hated the most was that he could see her, but she'll never be able to see him again.

Why did our cruel faith make us a wolf and little red riding hood?

Henry is 'trash' but NOT when it comes to Amber/ Henber please author-nim. I noticed that Henry got a pretty bad image for being a ert recently. So I think it'd be interesting to see a ert like him falling in love ;)
