Moment of Truth

Miracle (??) in December

“Hi Justin,” Auntie Nora’s voice echoed from the intercom. “We’re going to be home in half an hour. Is everything going all right?” Justin lied, saying that the house was in perfect order, and that the guests were sleeping soundly. But as he dropped the phone, he sunk to his knees in tears. Luhan put an assuring hand on his back, telling him that everything would be okay.

“What do you mean, everything’s gonna be okay?” Kris yelled. With his height of 187 cm, he even towered over the other members, and seeing him lose his temper at Luhan made him seem even more intimidating. “You know how much time we have to clean up this mess?!

“Yeah, we shouldn’t even have come here! Everything always ends in a disaster! Ugh!” negative Baekhyun added, staring down his bandmate.

But it looked like Kris wasn’t just angry at Luhan, because he went on a rant, scolding each and every one of his team members one by one. “Suho, I told you one hundred times – we’re supposed to use our powers for good, not to destroy people’s houses! What kind of example are you showing our fans?” Suho, who was having a meltdown on the couch, was now drowning in his own tears. “Chanyeol, you too! Shouldn’t you know better than to leave the stove on for half an hour?! Tao, be more careful with your nunchucks. Don’t use any weapons near any electronic devices. And Chen...”

Luhan remained silent while Kris reprimanded everybody. But soon after Kris had finished chewing Baekhyun out for not being positive toward his guests, he sighed. “Sorry, guys. I just wish you guys would be more responsible sometimes. Anyways, is there any way we can get rid of this mess?”

The members thought and thought. Justin’s loud sobs were reduced to sniffles. Xiumin was about to take a nap on the couch, but D.O. slapped him in the face, screaming that he should listen as part of the group. Alyssa, who was normally a drama queen, somehow remained calm despite the crisis that had emerged. “Wait.” She turned to Tao, who was in the living room, still trying to wrestle a deranged Chen off of his back. “Tao, you can control time, right?”

“Well, according to SM Entertainment I can,” Tao said in Chinese. Kris had cooled down too, because he was able to translate. “I don’t know if my powers really work, though.”

“But I saw Kai teleport. Lots of times. And what with Suho and the exploding toilet – oh, whoops, I wasn’t supposed to mention that.” Kimberly had regained consciousness and was somehow able to hear the conversation. Surprisingly, no one attempted to start a Hunger Games after mentioning the accident upstairs.

“But I’m the one who can turn back time... That’s different than say, water or ice powers. Well, okay!” Tao smiled as Chen finally lost his grip on him and slipped to the ground. “I can try...” He raised his palm up, and all the clocks in Justin’s house ticked slower and slower...
