Gao su wo, Mama

Miracle (??) in December

“Hello, kids!” Auntie Nora smiled at Faith and Kimberly. Justin was in the living room, relaxing on the couch with a few older boys. Auntie Nora’s smile faded. “Justin, are these your classmates? They all look so old! Are you sure they’re in your grade? How come you invited them without asking me? Why are you guys up at 3 am? I hope they didn’t offer you any drugs...” She glared at one of the boys, who looked positively stoned with his big derpy eyes.

                “But Mom, they’re not -”

                “You’re grounded.”

                “Aww man!”

Alyssa was nowhere to be seen, but Auntie Peng spotted her in the hallway, talking to a red-haired university student around a head taller than her.

“Is that your boyfriend…?” It was Auntie Peng’s turn to question her daughter. “I told you no boyfriends until you’re 25. And I thought you didn’t like tall guys. And WHY does he look like a KPop star?” Then she paused as Alyssa smiled sheepishly. “Wait… is that that Luhan guy you keep talking about?”

“How did you know?” Luhan laughed. “Well, she’s not my girlfriend, but she’s one of the coolest girls I’ve ever met. I mean, you should've seen her take on Tao!" Alyssa’s eyes welled with happy tears. One of her biases was complimenting her personality!! GAHH!! Her mom gave her a suspicious look, wondering what on earth her daughter was doing picking fights with K-Pop stars, but let Alyssa off with a warning.

As Kimberly and Alyssa were about to leave, they took one last look at the boy group they admired. Both of them doubted they’d ever get an opportunity to meet with an entire K-Pop group again.

“Wait!” Luhan called. “Thanks for the fun times tonight. So, we’re having concert in Vancouver (this was in English, btw) on New Year’s Eve.” Then he pulled out three sheets of paper from his pocket. “Who wants front row tickets?” Kimberly and Alyssa embraced each other tightly, then hopped around in a circle as they squealed with delight. “I’m giving one to Justin, too.” Justin’s eyes nearly popped out. Wow, Luhan even knew his name! Plus, he was offering him concert tickets! Justin didn’t know whether to laugh, cry, scream, or all of the above. But wait. He was grounded.

Apparently, Auntie Nora could read her son’s mind, because she insisted that Justin was forbidden from leaving the house for the next three weeks. Luhan whispered something in Chinese to Justin’s mom, who smiled and said, “Okay, we’ll see you then.” As EXO exited the house to their newly fixed van, Auntie Nora turned to Justin with a cheesy grin on her face, and Justin started laughing, crying and screaming, all at the same time. EXO in concert!! What fun that would be!
