Candy Cane. 


She, Kim Ji Min, was at the train station. 
It was 8:07 AM. 
She left her house a little later. 
She grabbed the collars of her coat and pulled it in, to gain some warmth as the frosty wind blew. 
Her face was chilly from the frost. 
Her fingertips, were frozen. 

She impatiently tapped her feets, she shouldn't have left her house that late. 
She wasn't usually late... 
But.. today was that exception. 
She was late, by two minutes. 

Funny how two minutes of late can cause such a significant impact on one's life. 



He, Lee Sung Jong, was at the train station. 
He was all dressed up, with scarves, hats, sunglasses. 
He didn't want to be noticed. 
He shouldn't be. 
He was fully aware of the consequences if he was exposed to the public. 
The wind blew, he immediately shoved his hands into his coat, to gain some warmth. 
He gave an impatient sigh. 
He was only given two hours to run an errand, 
The silliest things only a maknae has to do. 

He shouldn't have woken up so early. 
Maybe SungGyu hyung wouldn't have called him. 
Why can't he sleep like DongWoo Hyung. 
Maybe it would be Myung Soo or Sung Yeol out here now. 
It's so cold. 
He wasn't usually out in the cold. 
But.. today was that exception. 
He was out here in the cold, on a Friday morning. 

Funny how your age in a group can cause such a significant..well.. at least rather to a large extent, an impact on one's life. 



" Passengers who are taking Seoul Subway line 2, towards Gangnam, please proceed to Platform A. " 

Kim Ji Min ears perked up and she hurriedly walked through the fields of people. 
It was tough to squeeze through the crowd. 
She still managed to. 

Lee Sung Jong ears perked up, and he hurriedly made his way to Platform A. 
He was already near Platform A, thankfully he didn't have to meet the crowd. 
He made it there. 


Kim Ji Min stood by one of the doors, as she hears the loud familiar chugging noise of the train. 
She groaned as the train flew by her and she glanced at the crowd inside.  
It is horrible to take the subway train when you're late. 


Lee Sung Jong stood by one of the doors, he heard the noise of the approaching train. 
It has been some time since he has taken the subway. 
It was... really long. 
It is really pleasant to relive your past occasionally. 
He sometimes missed those times when he was not recognised by the public. 
Maybe, just his friends. 
He wouldn't have to always be on his toes for everything. 
The Media is horrible at loudly broadcasting anything bad, or possibly tarnishing your reputations. 

"Doors are Opening.... Please mind the gap. " 

Both of them stepped into the cabin. 

The train ride was relatively quiet. 
It has always been. 
With the release of smartphones and wireless networks, no one seemed to have time to bother for a conversation in a train anymore.
Rather, be entertained by the phones and with ear piece stuffed into their ears. 


The train had a sudden jerk. 
The whole cabin gave silent curse and groans. 

And.. Lee Sung Jong lost his balance and almost fell on a girl. 

" Ah.. I'm Sorry.. " He bowed apologetically, changing his voice and keeping his face low to hide his identity. 

That girl just gave him a nod, but it was clear that she was annoyed by the push. 

Suddenly, it was as if a light bulb lits up and hover above SungJong's head. 

"Excuse me.. " 
That girl turned around giving him a nonchalant stare. 

Lee Sung Jong grew excited, " Aren't you.. Kim Ji Min? " 
That girl's face was shocked, " How.. How did you know me? " 

As she peered carefully, " OHOH, Aren't you...mgffff-" 
Sung Jong immediately covered . 
He is not going to be exposed in the train. 
Who knows how long he will take to leave the train then? 

He placed a finger on his lips, " Shhh.. Don't say my name aloud.. " 
He softly whispered. 

She nodded and smiled excitedly at the sight of her old friend, " Wow... Not bad.. How long has it been since we've last met? " 

He grinned, " Since Junior High... About six, seven years or so?? " 

She nodded furiously,.. as her mind was thinking of possible conversation starters. 

" Hmm.. so how are you? " the guy asked first. 

She smiled, as she gave an exasperated sigh. 
" I.. I.. am currently working. 
I am still looking for a stable job, but I'm working part-time.. all those odd jobs. I have already graduated but you know how hard it is to find a job in Korea especially since so many people has the same qualifications.. " 
Her hand run through her hair as she knit her brows into a tight knot. 

She stared into space for a while before looking into his eyes, " But.. for you.. you seemed to have a better life than mine. " She grinned. 

He gave a silly chuckle, " Every thing has their ups and downs, while this life I pursue maybe my dream, it is not easy and not exactly the Dream Come True reality everybody thought it was... " He pouted, " But.. I'm still hanging on, " He gave her a smile. 

" Next Station Sadang. Passengers who are taking the Seoul Subway Line 4, towards Oido or Incheon International Airport, please alight at the next station." 

" Oh.. JiMin-ah, which station are you alighting? " 

" Gangnam. " 

" Seriously? Me too.  Why are you going to Gangnam? " 

" I work there, and you? " 

" I.. I need to do errands. " 
He made a face. 

She giggled. 
 

As they continued talking, soon... 
" We are now approaching Gangname station. Passengers who are approaching Daehwa or Ogeum station, please alight at this station. " 

" Here we are, " SungJong gave her a smile. 
She nodded. 

"So.. I'll see you around? " SungJong asked as they walked out of the train station. 
" Yeah.. " 

They bade farewells and was leaving.. 

But both of them left in the same direction. 
And they realised.

"Oh... SungJong ah.. you're walking down this street too? " 

He nodded. 

" I'm going to a candy store, its the one we frequently buy from every year " 

It can't be.. 

"I... " she placed her hands on her chest as she tried to process the possibility. 
" I work at a candy store down this street. " 

He chuckled. 

" Wow.. such a coincidence! " 

" I'm going to buy some sweets for the holidays, Candy Canes specifically. We're having a party in a week's time and Sung Gyu hyung loves Candy Canes. " 

Her eyes widen, " Really? I didn't know about that. " 
He chuckled and nodded. 







"So.. there you go. " She had wrapped the candies he had choosen carefully in a bag. 
SungJong passed him his card to make payment. 

"Ji Min-ah.. " 
Her eyes was still glued on the screen. 
" Can I have your number? " 
She frozed. 
She looked up.. 

Her eyebrows are raised. 

" You know.. in case.. yeah... urm.. " 
She smiled, 
" Pass me your phone.. " 

He gladly and quickly took out his phone. 
He was hoping she didn't see how nervous he was. 
Or perhaps how sweaty his palms were. 


After she had key into his phone. 
He seems to be reluctant to leave. 

She gave him a smile, " Is there anything else you want? " 

He looks hesistant, " Urm... Can I have more bags? " 

She giggled, as she bends down to grab some more. 

He purposely took out one bag of the wrapped candies and placed in on the counter. 

" Is alright Ji-Min-ah, See you around. " 
He hurriedly ran out. 

She stood up and realised he has left. 
She stared at his back view. 
He seems to be in a hurry.. 


Hey.. he left a bag of sweets here.

She smiled. 

SungJong is still the same after so many years. 
That's why she still has not gotten over her crush for him. 
This Lemon Candy boy, she giggled.. 

"Excuse Me.. " A lady was staring at her quizzically. 
She immediately changed her face and bow apologetically as she wondered how long has the lady witnessed her giggling to herslef. 


Sung Jong sent the message and can't help but chuckled. 

Ji Min is still the same after so many years. 
That's why he still has not gotten over his crush for him. 
This Candy Cane girl, he chuckled. 

" Excuse Me.. " a girl's voice broke his thoughts. 
" Aren't you  Sung Jong from Infinite? " 

 

Ahhh... Hehehes.. I am really bad at writing such stuff.. T.T
I did my research on the subway lines.. but about the platform and such.. 
I really don't quite know. 
I'm not a korean, so I don't know how do they usually phrase their annoucements. 
Hmm... 

But a fluffy candy story for Sung Jong :)
