TWENTY NINE

XOXO

CHAPTER 29

Hana stepped out of the car as Kris then closed the door. A beeping sound locked the car and she looked around the rather quiet place. There was hardly anyone around.

“Come on” Kris told her and she followed just behind him. “Why are we in Biwon?” she asks. Kris pockets his hands and continues walking “I want to stroll around; it's only proper after lunch, right?”

Hana walked beside him as they entered. A lady was waiting at the entrance; she smiled at Kris “Good afternoon, Mr. Wu; private tour?” Kris's face suddenly turned stony, like a defense mechanism. “No guides; I already arranged for it” he said in a blunt tone and the lady nods before stepping aside and let them through.

Her breath was almost taken away when they had fully entered the confinements of the place. Kris led the way “Have you been here before?” he asks as they walk. Hana smiled “Just outside... isn't it required to be with a guide here?”

“I arranged for it... it's not like I'm gonna steal or break anything in here anyway, it's not worth it” he said. Hana couldn't help but feel so poor all of a sudden. Behold, the great Kris Wu and his riches. She cleared as they both continued to walk in silence. “How many times have you been here?” she asks in curiosity since he seemed to know his way around quite well.

“Thrice... first was with my mom, the second one when I came for a visit from the States and third being today” Hana nodded her head and silence fell upon them once again.

As they were about to approach the rear of the palace, Hana stopped on her tracks infront of Kris and he blinked his eyes at her in surprise at her sudden action. He almost bumped into her. She gave him a smile “Let's play Twenty Truths”

Kris gave her a funny look “Is that supposed to be a game?” Hana nodded her head “Yeah, it helps getting to know people; we take turns saying truths about ourselves”

“I think it's pointless” she pouted at his words “Come on, it'll help us both. Trust me”

Kris looked at her, amused. He gave a sigh of defeat “How do I know you're not lying?” Hana smiled once again “You said you could easily tell a lie, didn't you? And to be fair, I'll put all my trust in you not to tell me a lie in return”

“How sure are you that I won't break your trust?”

Hana claps her hand “It's called trust for a reason; game?” she holds out her hand for him to shake to seal the deal. Kris looks down at her hand and then back at her “You're not serious, are you?” But Hana was giving him a serious look. Finally, he shakes her hand and she smiles then said “You go first”

Kris smirks; he doesn't release her hand but instead pulls her along with him as they reach the high light of the place: the rear garden.

“H-hey, you can let go now ----” Fat chance, Hana. He thinks to himself as he ignores her protest and her ineffective methods of freeing her hand. “First truth: I don't like fish” he stated. Hana gave up her attempts and just walked along with him. “Your turn” he said.

Hana took a quick glance at him, trying to contain the numbness she felt on her cheeks.

“I have OCD” she confesses. Kris raises a brow at her odd words of truth “Really? Is that why you cleaned my house?” Hana flusters at the memory and looks away. “Y-yeah; your turn”

They both continue to slowly stroll around the garden; good thing it was a little cloudy, otherwise strolling at this hour would be not ideal. “I lost my ity to curiosity” he stated plainly, as if it was nothing. Hana's cheeks only grew redder “Y-you don't have to tell r-rated truths”

“Your turn” Kris says, ignoring her remark. Hana swallows hard “I cried thrice because of you...” she starts and Kris's heart skipped a beat. He turns to look at her, she was biting her lip as she looked down on the ground while continuing to walk.

“When you said...” she hesitated. Damn, I shouldn't have said this! She regrets mentally “L-Let's just say it really hurt to hear you say that I-I'm just your PA”

He swallowed hard. He stopped while she kept walking; she only stopped when she felt the tug on her hand and she looked back. He was looking at her with confused eyes “When?”

She swallows hard “Remember when... you fell asleep in the office and I brought you lunch?”

His grip on her hand loosens but not loose enough to let go. He looked away upon remembering; he had a conversation with Xiumin and he only knew now that she had heard it all. Hana chuckles and sheepishly scratches the back of her neck with her free hand “B-but don't worry! That was the truth anyway”

Kris lifted his head and looked at her as they both began to walk again. “What about the second and third time?” he asks. Hana gives him a playful pout “Aigo ~ it's your turn”

Kris doesn't speak for awhile and they just keep walking.

“Just tell me when was the second and third time I hurt you” he asks timidly. Hana turns her head away from looking at him and instead just focuses on the path they walked on.

“The second time was during the night of that party you told me to organize... when you told me to stop ---” she pursed her lips together for a moment, searching for another word “screwing you over and the third...” she trailed off.

She smiled and turned to him “When you let me walk away”

Kris puffs out a breath and frowns. They both fall quiet and continue walking.

“Third truth...” he breathes and looks at her “I'm not letting you walk away again”

Hana doesn't smile, she just looks at him. Kris looked back at her with an equal stare; an unreadable expression on their faces. A soft smile slowly curves on Hana's lips.

“Third truth” she spoke softly “You confuse me”

Hana.

We both sat down under one of the pavilions to rest.

I look over to Kris; he was leaning forward, elbows on his knees and hands clasped together as he stared out to the vast view of the garden. The silence was peaceful, it wasn't awkward and I have grown to feel much more comfortable and less tensed around his company.

God, why did you make such a person like him exist with a face like this? “You're staring” he mumbles, startling me and I quickly look away, flustering. “Sorry” I cough to the side.

Ring. Ring. Ring. It was Kris's phone; he fished it out of his pocket and an annoyed sigh escapes his lips as he looks at the screen. I wonder who's calling. It kept ringing “Aren't you gonna answer that?” I asked, pointing to the phone, he just let it ring in his hands

“No” He rejected the call and turned off his phone. He stood up “Sorry, Hana but I have to go somewhere...”

Why? I got up and nodded my head, smiling “It's okay” I check my watch and saw that it was nearing four in the afternoon already and I hadn't even noticed we've been walking around for so long. “I'll go back to the office to check on some things” I told him.

Kris gave a small half smile. He looked around before turning back to me; he gently pinched my chin and placed a peck on my cheek.

. . .

My mind went blank all of a sudden and the blood running through my veins just went directly up to my cheeks. Kris gave an amused smile as I hung my head low and bit my lower lip.

“I'll take you home; leave the office be for today” he said before grabbing my hand and pulling me along.

Kris Wu... you're making it hard to slow down.

“Hana, take a deep breath” I told myself as I look back at the mirror and close my eyes, doing as I had told myself. I opened my eyes once again and looked at my reflection; “Don't get your hopes too high... don't give it your all” I lectured.

“You might hurt yourself” I warned. But who am I kidding? I've got it bad. Sigh. I grip the counter and hang my head low. I'm supposed to be in bed by now but here I am, talking to the mirror. I have never felt so a bliss in my life... never.

I never felt so special, never felt so contented, never felt so much more happier and never felt so... scared. I walk out of the bathroom and slump down on my bed; I haven't been going up to the roof top lately for two reasons: Kris's huge photo has been removed and I've been too busy with office works. Sigh.

Beep. I shot up and fell off the bed as I hurriedly reached for my phone on the dresser. Thud. “Ow ~” I groaned, getting up to my feet and grabbed my phone.

Kris! I bit my lower lip as I eagerly opened the message

Sigh. He tossed his keys onto the bowl next to the door. “What are you doing here?” he asked the person with an annoyed tone, walking to the single seat couch and sat down.

“I went to your office today but you weren't there” the person said. “My, my, Yi Fan... you look stressed; hasn't anyone been taking care of you?” the person chuckles while Kris rolled his eyes. “Maybe you shouldn't have bailed on me that day”

Kris remained quiet as his hands balled into fists, his jaw clenched, suddenly feeling angry.

“And what?” he hisses.

You could have learned... it would have taken time but you would have learned to love me”

Kris scoffed to the side “Did Dad send you here?” the girl simply smiled and shook her head “I came on my own, why should I need to be dictated by your old man?”

Having had enough, Kris got up from his seat “Go home and I thought I made a pretty clear statement that day, that I never wanted to see you again” the smile from the female's face disappeared almost as instantly as it had appeared.

Have you really become heartless? You used to be so warm and endearing”

Kris sighed. “Get out. Now.”

Yi Fan ---” He had enough; he quickly turned around, harshly grabbed her by the sides of her arms and glared at her, if looks could kill, she would be in pieces right now. However, she kept a strong face. “You're gonna hurt me? Go ahead! You've hurt me countless of times already!” she yelled, anger and hurt mixed altogether.

Kris's grip loosened until he let go “You hurt your own self... So, don't accuse me; you asked for , I didn't. You asked for a lover, I didn't. You asked for marriage, I didn't... not a single one and I had just enough ample time to get out of everything before making my life much miserable than it already was”

The female swallowed hard before grabbing her bag from the table and went out, making sure to slam the door behind her.

Kris walked to the fridge but only to be struck with confusion when he found out that the packs of beers were no longer there but instead, there were cans of cider and on the very first can was a note: An alternative :) -Hana

Who else? Kris sighed and took out the first can, peeling off the note and stuck it elsewhere as he popped the can open and took a sip. Hm. Not bad. His anger seemed to have suddenly evaporated and he remembered Hana. He took out his phone.

He had to leave earlier after Luhan had informed him of his visitor at the office. Unfortunately, when he got there, the girl was no longer there.

Did she say anything?” Kris asked Luhan as soon as they had entered the CEO's office. Kris checked every single file cabinet making sure nothing was taken. He was a bit pissed off about how someone got into his office when it's usually locked when he's not in. “No but Kris, please tell me no one's gonna get fired for unlocking your office. Kris growled “The hell someone is! I want the surveillance tape on my desk tomorrow morning!”

Luhan sighed as Kris slammed close the drawer and walked out of the office.

His thumb began to tap on the screen, typing a message intended to be delivered to only one person.

You owe me one kiss for every can of beer you threw away.

- CEO Kris Wu

Hana's eyes widened. How... do I go to sleep now? She asked herself, a hand clasping over to where her heart was, thumping.
