CHAPTER 22

Hana.

The clock struck seven and I put away all my work for the night. While doing so, a knock came on the door and it opened without my consent. I turned to loo at who it was that came inside and saw Kai. He leaned against the door frame with his hands inside his pockets. “Dinner?”

I give him a smile and close the drawer before nodding. I grabbed my bag from my desk and turned off the lamp before walking towards the door where Kai was waiting. I turned off the lights on my way and he stepped out as I locked the door behind me. “Where are we going?” I ask him as we both made our way to the elevator.

“Anywhere... do you have anything particular in mind?” he asks me thoughtfully but I shrug my shoulders. I really don't know to be quite honest. If it was me alone, I would prefer not to eat dinner at all. I may aswell just cook up some ramen at home then sleep but since it's Kai and take into consideration that he's rich and all that, I don't know how his taste goes. We both reached the elevator and he pressed the button.

“Hey Hana” he calls and I turn to him “Hm?”

Out of the blues, he leans in suddenly and pecks my cheek. I batted my eyes at him; Did that just happen? My cheeks went numb and I felt my chest tightening. Kai chuckled and scratched the back of his neck “Sorry, that's just how I thank people and I wanted to thank you for accepting my invitation”

I looked away and swallowed hard. My chest is beginning to hurt all of a sudden.

“...if you and Kai are to be romantically involved, you will lose your job.”

But I'm not even thinking about my job right now. I bit my lower lip and the elevator doors opened; my eyes almost popped out of its sockets when I saw who was inside.

“Hey Kris!” Kai chimed and he stepped inside. Kris had an impassive look on his face, I lowered my head when he took a glance at me and quietly stepped inside the elevator. Kai pressed for the doors to close and silence engulfed the small space. Awkward... so awkward.

“Jongin...” I swear I almost had a heart attack when Kris spoke. I was standing behind him and Kai; “Yeah?”

Just keep quiet Hana. Be invisible. I breathed quietly as the two conversed. “What are you doing with my PA at this late hour?” Gulp. I lower my head further. “I asked her to dinner, hyung. Why?” I don't want to look at the mirror walls right now. Feeling Kris's glare is enough to make me want to run and jump off a cliff. “And she said yes?” Kai chuckles and turns to him “What do you think?”

Kai. Please... don't speak. Please. I quietly pleaded inside my head. The lift stopped and the doors opened. Kris walked out first. Kai and I followed; “Have a good night then...” I froze all of a sudden and Kai was looking at him with quizzically.

“Sure hyung...” Kai mumbles.

I swallowed hard. The coldness of his voice and his bluntness were like arrows and I was the target. Kris walked out of the building and I stood there staring as he got into his car and quickly drove away. I was only brought back to reality when I felt Kai holding my hand.

I flinched and I pulled my hand away.

“S-sorry... are you okay?” Kai asked, I swallowed tha lump in my throat before putting on a smile and nodded my head. “I was just thinking, sorry about that Kai” he gave me an understanding nod before leading me out of the door and to his car.

Kris.

I opened up the fridge and took out two packs of beer. I shut the door close with my foot and walked to the bar counter, setting them down and hauled myself up on the stool. I opened a can and took a sip; I need to forget and alcohol was the only option other than indulging myself in an accident in hopes to get amnesia.

Forget Hana. Forget her... I drank up some more of the liquid.

I saw Kai put a hand on her back and she jumped at the touch. I was no longer paying attention to what everyone else was saying, I just kept taking quick glances of them and nod my head. Kai smiled at her and she smiled back.

It was one of her usual smiles. I immediately look away, turning back to everyone else.

The next thing I knew, I saw her walking out of the board room with Kai, holding onto his arm.

And to tell you... I gave a .

Fourth can. I ran a hand through my hair, leaning forward a bit. They said that one gets drunk faster if he allows himself, one can get drunk faster if he drinks faster too. They're right because I can already feel my head spinning.

“You know, if I were you, I would stop being such a stubborn little and just admit it before I lose her to someone else...”

I hate losing. I drank up the remaining contents and proceed to the fifth can.

What has Kim Hana done to me? What has an ordinary employee of Wu Enterprise done to its powerful and cold-hearted boss? How is it possible for someone so plain, so ordinary and even so clumsy at times to make me feel this frustrated? To make me feel so many foreign feelings?

Guilt.

Worry.

Curiosity.

Frustration.

Confusion.

Warmth.

Ninth can. I took out my phone from my pocket and my eyes squint a bit at the brightness. It said 9:56 PM. I pressed on the screen and it opened up the inbox; I scrolled down and saw Hana's name. Tap.

“Then I'll walk away”

I heard the sound of the can being bent. My hand clenched, crushing the can, some of the beer had oozed out of its mouth and I only stared at it. I let go and opened another one.

She didn't want to forget.

So the person that I've hurt... is her, huh? Hn. How much more ridiculous could I feel? How many more foreign feelings will she let me feel?

“I don't want to forget my first kiss”

I chuckle at the thought. I took away her first kiss... I lift my head and let out a frustrated sigh as I put down my phone on the marble counter and brought my hands up to my head. Grabbing my hair in frustration and confusion.

“I took her first and gave her mine... what the ...”

But no sooner, the small sarcastic smile on my face faded and I frowned. You're ed up Kris...

“Why did I let her walk away, anyway?”

Why can't I just forget about you... Hana?

“Thank you for the evening, Kai” she gave him a smile as they both stood outside the building of her apartment. Kai gave her a serene smile “No problem” Hana gives a small bow of the head and her heel. Kai grabbed her hand and she turned back to look at him. Swiftly, he pulled her into his arms; Hana was caught by surprise and only froze.

It feels different. She bit her lower lip and wiggled her way out of Kai's grasp.

“Kai ---”

“Whoever spread a rumor about me being a Casanova... don't believe them” he smiled at her brightly and slowly it softened “I will never hurt you, Hana...” Hana swallowed hard; she had a wistful look and her eyes were looking at Kai in question. He grabbed her by the shoulders and slowly, he leaned in.

So this is how it shall be: I am Kai and you are Tao because of the cliffy

Sad News: I won't be able to update regularly starting tomorrow because there's a very important plate that I have to finish within two weeks and next week is Exam Week D:

I'm sorry ~ I'm not saying that I won't update for two weeks, it's just that I won't be posting chapters everyday like I do regularly. Please be patient, look at the bright side, after exams, school will close for the semester and it's double, triple, super update treats :)
