CHAPTER 18

Hana.

“And my PA too...” Kris mumbles. I kept a firm smile on my face and avoid eye contact with him; I remind myself once more. I'm just his PA. Yep.

I bit my tongue as I firmly held onto Kai's arm. “Well, you look beautiful tonight, Ms. Kim” the man across Kris compliments me and I only give a smile. Kai smirks “Jaejoong-ssi, you know I don't bring ugly dates”

“Hana-ssi! Wow, I barely recognized you!” Xiumin laughs as he walks over with Luhan and Suho. The two pretty much nodded their heads in agreement. Gah. I haven't received so many compliments all in one day. So this is what it feels like. No sooner, the party begun as the MC, Lay and I, had hired, took his place on stage and everyone proceeded to their respectable seats. Since I was with Kai, I got to sit with them and it meant also that I would be sitting down with Kris.

Sigh. I don't even know why I feel so tensed all of a sudden.

“Tonight is a special night for Wu Enterprise because other than marking their Golden Year, they also have very important guests for tonight” The MC spoke through the mic, referring to the investors sitting on the table next to ours on the front near the stage. “So ladies and gentlemen, let's all give a warm applause for the CEO of Wu Enterprise, Mr. Kris Wu”

Kris got up from his seat and went up on the stage as everyone clapped their hands, including me. The MC walked away from the podium and Kris took his place;

“Good evening everyone.” he starts off his words with a greeting in English “Over the years, Wu Enterprise has built up a reputation as one of the companies that no one would want to meddle with. We have received many criticisms; the business industry is a horrifying place to be when you don't know your way around which is why some companies wake up one day and realize: they're done for.”

My eyes look at him in amazement. His English was simply... excellent. So fluent... Omo... I can't even understand half of it.

“All of you gathered here tonight are, in many ways, associated with Wu Enterprise; you are either a client, a business associate, a colleague, a family friend, an investor or a possible investor” He eyes the investors and continues “Ladies and gentlemen, tonight, we invite you to enjoy the party; an evening in Monte Carlo in celebration of Wu Enterprise's Golden Year; please allow us to give you a taste of what it's like to invest at Wu Enterprise and what luxury you should expect once you trust us to run things our way”

The lights dimmed all of a sudden and the runways surrounding the sides of the room light up in neon lights; girls appeared in lines, wearing the most lavish clothes and costumes. Music fills my ears and a fashion show ensues; on the backdrop of the stage, a video about Wu Enterprise was projected. Everything around suddenly screamed luxury.

I turned to Lay who smiled at me “Just a little touch up” he mouthed.

The models all gathered on stage and a large dart board rose up on the back with the words “WU ENTERPRISE GOLD” written on it in gold. The music ended with a boom and everyone gave a standing ovation. Dinner was then served afterwards, everyone in the room was still on the verge of the adrenaline that the show gave; I looked across me and noticed the empty seat. I looked around. Where did he go?

“Something wrong, Hana?” Kai asked; I shook my head and gave him a small smile.

There was not much conversation on the table while dinner went on. I have discovered that rich people don't stay in their seats to finish food.

Everyone seemed to be enjoying the party. I was with Kai for the majority of the evening, he went around introducing me to so many people in the business that I lost count. I kept looking around me in search for someone in particular but I had no luck whatsoever.

“Hana?” I turned to Kai once again; “Are you sure you're okay?”

I nod my head. “Yeah, I'm just... tired” I point to the 5-inch heels on my feet and gives me a chuckle “Ah, sorry about that... I'm sorry for dragging you all over the room”

“N-no! It's okay, they don't hurt that bad... I'm fine” I tell him. Kai gives me a smile and told me to rest for a little while he goes around to meddle with the other guests. I don't even think twice; I parted away from him to go for the comfort room for a moment so that I could step out of them and let my feet breathe.

Comfort room. Comfort room. I make my way down the quiet little hall; halfway, I give in to the pain and take off my heels, sighing in great relief as my feet land on the carpeted floor. I hear a door open and I jump, a waiter bows “Have a good evening, Mr. Wu” he then closes the door and walks in my direction but he doesn't even spare me a glance. After he walks past me, I raise a brow and walked towards the door where he had just come from.

I looked around; the hall was deserted. Gulp. I bit my lower lip. Should I knock?

I retreat my fist from the face of the door and grab the handle instead; carefully turning it not to make a sound and slowly pushed it open. I peeked through the crack and slowly opened the door much wider; Creek. And cue my whole body freezing.

The room was lavishly colored in a nice peachy color, black leather chairs were placed around a large poker table. It's a private room. One of the chairs' back was turned to me and I could only guess who was sitting on it.

“Didn't I tell you to leave already?” my heart skipped a beat at the deep voice.

I didn't even squeak. I just stood by the open door with my hand still on the handle. I heard a heavy sigh and clinks of ice inside a glass, the chair moved as the person stood up. Kris...

Even with his back turned to me, he's still attractive. “Leave...” he said but I still didn't move. I couldn't and I don't know why... but for some reason, it hurt.

“Mr. Wu” I finally speak. Kris suddenly turned around, his face was all scrunched up, his brows were knitted together but his eyes spoke otherwise. They held surprise in them. “What are you doing here?” he questions in the coldest tone, a tone that I've never heard of before. My eyes drifted to the glass of whiskey in his hand and forced a small smile on my face.

“You're drinking again”

“Pfft.” he scoffs to the side and takes a sip of the orange-like liquid in his glass. “Why do you always meddle with what I do, Ms. Kim?”

I take sharp breath and my grip on the knob tightens as I searched for the words to say. I mumbled. “What?” he asks, obviously having not heard. “Because I'm your PA, sir” I say much louder than intended. Kris looks at me; as if he was examining me.

I look down on my bare feet, suddenly realizing that I was holding my heels on my other hand.

“Correct. You're just my PA” Stab.

He walked around the table, stopping just directly in front of me, a feet or so of distance between us both. “So stop ing me over acting like you actually care about me when in all actuality you're doing this for the sake of your job” I think my heart just stopped beating. it... really hurts.

I felt tears gather in my eyes. I shouldn't cry but that really hurt. I look down on my two feet and bit my lips as I felt them quivering. Kris placed down his glass on the table and pocketed his hands as he leaned on the back rest of a chair.

“I'll have you know that if you and Kai are involved with each other romantically after tonight, you're fired”

Kris Wu. You are the most difficult person in the world to please. You have a cold heart that no one could ever warm up. You are rich as . You have everything under the palm of your hand.

My tears finally fall.

You are also arrogant. You are cocky... you are a jerk. You are mean. You are stupid.

I look up and look at him, meeting his eyes. His face faltered a bit and he had that questioning look. As if he was confused and frustrated.

You are handsome... scratch that, you are gorgeous... god-like. Perfect. But the next thought hurt the most for some reason. You are out of my league.

“I'm sorry... sir” I try my best to speak without my voice shattering; I forced a smile “If you want, I will stop meddling with your personal habits”

I look back down on my feet and give a small bow before turning around to leave.

But just a second after I turned around, I felt my shoulders being held and in a moment I was turned around and a pair of lips landed on top of mine. Reality hits me square in the face and I realize...

Kris is kissing me.
