Yook SungJae?

A new beginning (monstar)

We sat in the autatorium as a separate but together group. I sat next to Eun-Ha who was sitting next to Se-Yi and Kim Nana sat next to me, Seol-Chan behind us, Do-Nam to the very edge, Kyu-Dong on the other side below us and Sun-Woo directly in front of us. If you didn’t know, you wouldn’t have thought we were in any group just a class forced to seat next to each other. We sat quietly waiting for All For One to gather together on stage.

“He is in All for One?” I said disgusted as Jea-Rok took the stage. I had come to really dislike him since I had been going to this school. Eun-Ha nodded and told me he played the cymbals. I gave her a look that made her have to hide her face in her hand from the laughter. I looked towards Nana who was wearing her same little smirk when she found something funny. They began and I was blown away. The music was unbelievable and I could feel my mouth dropping. Nana saved me by pushing my chin up. I nudged her playfully with my elbow and she rolled her eyes.

“Would you like to play something for us, Rose?” The homeroom teacher asked after the group was done performing. I was still in a daze by the music that I jumped slightly in my chair when my name was called.

“What?” I said loudly. Everyone turned to look at me and then back to the teacher.

“I was told you could play the piano, would you like to show us something?” She said smiling widely. Yep, here it was. I stood up slowly and walked towards the stage. I walked up to the piano and ran my fingers over it. It was a masterpiece that was needed to be handle with care. I sat on the bench and relax a bit. I turned to Nana.

“What should I play?” I asked her loudly so she could hear me.

“Heartbreak” She said just loud enough for me to hear.

“What song is that?” The teacher asked before I could start.

“I don’t really know how to read music, or compose. I just know how to play by emotion. Nana told me to play heartbreak so..” and I began playing slightly joyful tones to show the beginning of the love blossoming then suddenly it became dark to show the heartbreak. The music played through me as I told the story of how I interrupted heartbreak. I ended with a small mixture of the dark and joyful piece to show the heartbreak will stay with us but we can move past it.  I turned back to the crowd who was silent. The teacher’s mouth hung slightly open as did some of the students. Kim Nana started the applause which instantly caused the entire class to applause. I stood up without saying anything and walked back to my spot. I could feel everyone’s eyes on me.

“Alright, that’s all. You have a break now” The homeroom teacher finally said. “Rose, stay for a minute” She said as we all stood up to leave. I walked do to where she stood. She waited for all the students to walk out before she said anything.

“Would you like to join All For One?” She said with a huge smile on her face.

“No thanks,” I said respectfully.

“What? Why not?” She asked back surprised by my answer.

“I’m a little busy, and I don’t really like Jae-Rok” I said honestly.

“I’ll kick him out” She said quickly. I couldn’t help but laugh.

“Maybe next year, it’s just bad timing at the moment” I said before turning away and walking towards the exit. I heard her sighing as she sat down on the stage. I opened the door to see Seol-Chan waiting on me. I looked at him strangly before trying to walking towards the exit of the building.

“Please join the group” He said as he matched my pace.

“What?” I said looking at him like he had lost his mind.

“Your friends with Kim Nana, you can play the piano while making her participate in the group. Please join” He said opening the door for me and continued to follow me out. My phone vibrated and I took it out to read the text message before answering.

“Yook Sungjae? Where did you meet him?” Seol-Chan asked surprising me again and looking over my shoulder reading the message.

“A bookstore, why?” I said putting my phone away before he could read anymore. He looked at me like he was surprise and quickly took his phone out.

“What are you doing?” I asked curious as to who he was texting at the moment. I tried looking over his shoulder but he quickly turned around.

“Nothing, so will you join?” He asked still writing a text.

“Will you stop being a douche?” I ask him which caused him to look up.

“What are you talking about?” He asked putting his phone up.

“Your bringing the group down, everyone looks up to you because you are the idol. I’ll come to the practice or whatever but just to supervise and make sure Nana goes but you have to stop being so mean and rude to the others. That’s it though” I said simply and started walking back towards the classroom. Seol-Chan followed quietly mumbling behind me and we walked into the classroom where most of the group sat together Do-Nam was the only one missing.

“Why didn’t you tell us you could play? You were amazing” Eun-Ha said excitedly smiling towards me.

“You never asked” I said laughing at her excitement. Seol-Chan sat next to Se-Yi who seemed to be ignoring him. My phone vibrated and I flipped it open and read the message. I quickly texted SungJae back and lowered my phone to see Eun-Ha staring at me intently.

“What?” I said leaning back in my chair.

“Who are you texting smiling like that” Eun-Ha asked leaning against her hand with an almost admiring look.

“His name is Yook SungJea” I said smiling like a little girl. She stood up and turned to Seol-Chan who was playing with his phone as if he was waiting for a text message.

“Yook SungJea? Like Men In Black Yook SungJea?” She said in shock. I couldn’t help but laugh.

“Are you serious? Of course not, I met him in a bookstore…what idol goes to a bookstore?” I said still laughing. She looked towards Seol-Chan who seemed to be avoiding eye contact. His phone rang and he dropped it out of shock. He quickly recovered and ran outside with the phone. We watched him leave and I shook my head wondering what was going on with him.

“By the way, Seol-Chan invited me to come watch ya’ll practice, you guys don’t mind do you?” I asked looking towards everyone. They all smiled and agreed that it would be fine. I looked towards Se-Yi who seemed to be upset. I didn’t want to say anything in front of the group so I held my tongue. Seol-Chan walked in a few minutes later and the class slowly dragged themselves in before the next period began.

The period ended with little entertainment. Nana was fighting hard not to fall asleep in the seat next to me. Se-Yi stood up as soon as the teacher walked out and started out. Seol-Chan stood up to follow her but I quickly stood up in front of him. I gave him a look to go seat down before I turned to follow Se-Yi out. I followed her outside towards a bench where she sat down.

“What’s up, Se-Yi?” I said seating next to her.

“He said it was a joke, how could he say that? Or do that kind of a joke?” She said angrily.  I sighed thinking of how much of an idiot Seol-Chan was.

“Do you remember when you said you couldn’t tell Eun-Ha about this incident because she was in love with him or whatever?” I asked slowly trying to figure out what advice I should actually give in this moment.

“Yeah, it would break her heart” She said looking down at her hands.

“And have you ever showed any interest in Seol-Chan? Like does he know you like him?” I asked watching her avoid eye contact.

“I don’t even know if I like him, all this time I thought he was into Sun-Woo” She said slowly. Once again, I couldn’t help but laugh.

“Not to get off subject, but you haven’t been around a lot of guys have you?” I said smiling towards her. She looked up with a small smirk on her face and shook her head.

“Well…” I looked around before finishing to make sure no one was listening “ I think Seol-Chan likes you, but is either afraid you don’t like him or is trying not to like you because of his status. You know how it is here, he truly couldn’t date you even if he wanted to”

“But why would he say that? It’s just mean” She said leaning back on the bench looking up at the sky.

“Because he wanted to save face” I said simply. She looked at me like I had lost her somewhere.

“mmm, I believe I got that term from my parents…he is trying to not be embarrassed by it and if he feels like you rejected him he will try to play it off like it didn’t mean anything to him so that he won’t feel as embarrassed by it” I said trying to explain my term. She looked at me in awe.

“You know a lot about boys don’t you?” She said smiling up at me.

“I’ve had a lot of male friends, yes” I said laughing at her as she looked at me so intrigued.

“You seem so nice, so friendly…why did those boys beat you up?” She said looking at my bruises.

“I haven’t always been nice and friendly…and they didn’t beat me up..you should’ve seen them when I was done with them” I said pretending to be offended. She laughed and I could tell that she was lightening up. She stopped abruptly and looked up towards someone. I followed her gaze to see Seol-Chan looking at us.

“umm, class is about to start” He said slowly. Se-Yi nodded and and got up to head towards the class.

“Seol-Chan, can we talk for a second?” I said not moving from my spot.
