Jiyeon bent her head down in guilt. “Why…”, he whispered. “Why are you leaving?” She lifted her head. “My dad…he’s sick. My mum said he fell down from one of the construction buildings. He’s bed ridden”, she stood away from him as her voice cracked. L’s face softened, “I’m sorry.” “But you’re just going to pay him a visit right? You need to come back here at least to finish school.” “I don’t have a choice L”, Jiyeon stated firmly. “Mum’s not working and my brother is in a midst of an important exam. If he graduates from university, then we won’t have to worry about anything.” L looked heartbroken as he turned her around to face him. “You’re never coming back? At all?” “I’ll be back to visit you. I’m leaving, but that doesn’t mean I’m breaking up with you”, Jiyeon tried to soothe him. What L did next scared Jiyeon. L laughed.
