Chapter 6
The Sun and The Moon“Come again?” YoungBae started to pull back from her.
“I don't mean, like, that I've been hallucinating for the last 3 days. Obviously, you're a real person. I mean that this whole situation isn't real. This is a vacation fling and real feelings have no place in it”.
“I'm just a fling to you...?” He was trying to process that. He could feel his anger rising and jumped off the couch to pace in front of the TV. Rubbing the back of his neck and trying to control his anger, he couldn't make eye contact with her.
“I'm a realist, whenever possible, Bae. We've done a great job of ignoring your fame, but it's the elephant in the room. You got attacked by a screaming horde of girls today!” Right at that moment, God's sense of humor came into play again. “Look, you're on TV now.” And sure enough, there was Big Bang endorsing some clothing brand. YoungBae grabbed the remote and turned off the commercial quickly.
It was quiet in that hotel room for a long stretch. Neither really wanted to talk, so Luna started again to pack up the first aid kit and look everywhere but at him. He was sitting on the dresser with his shirt off and a surprisingly vulnerable and hurt look on his face. She didn't mean to hurt him, she just had to keep the boundaries in place. She HAD to.
“So what you're saying is that you can't like Dong YoungBae? That you don't think a relationship could work once we leave Jeju”.
“I DO like Dong YoungBae, but no, I don't think a relationship could work off this island”.
“Why not?”
“Because off this island, our real lives are waiting for us. In Seoul Dong YoungBae ceases to exist, right? TaeYang lives in Seoul.”
“TaeYang doesn't exist anywhere but on stage and in front of cameras.”
“I beg to differ. TaeYang also exists in the minds of a whole lot of teenage girls. Today proved that. It's probably ten times as bad in Seoul, isn't it?”
“Not really. There are more people. I can blend into the crowds easier. I was comfortable and got careless today. I'm usually much more careful.” He got up to stand before her and turned her around to face him again. Once again, he framed her face with his hands so she had nowhere to look but at him.
“I know the difference between TaeYang and YoungBae. Do you?” He challenged. She nodded slightly. “Then will you try to keep that line in your head and stay with me a little longer?” She nodded.
He was so happy that he wrapped his arms around her tight. He smiled into her neck and after several seconds pulled back.
“Cool. JiYong and I don't have to go back to Seoul for another week. We can lay on the beach and relax-”
“I have to leave tomorrow, Bae.”
“Nonsense. Just stay. I'll buy you a new plane ticket and get your room moved to this floor.”
Luna angrily moved back from him. “You see! Right there. That's the line that keeps disappearing. I have a job that I have to report back to on Monday. I can't just take an extra week off to play with you. And beyond that, I have money of my own. I don't need you
