Ch. 14

Woo Jiho's Personal Assistant?!

Catori’s P.O.V

I sat at my desk and tapped my fingers on the desk. Surprisingly, Jiho hasn’t been very annoying like all the other days. I haven’t done much today and it was already almost time to clock out. I was able to give Hanhae the apartment keys before we left and gave him the directions to the apartment. I played around with my pen until I felt my phone buzz. I grabbed it and checked to see who it was; it was a text from Kikwang. I mentally face palmed myself when I remembered I had a date with him tonight. I opened the text and it read: Can’t wait to see you tonight! I was thinking I could pick you up from your office and we can go to dinner from there? It’s whatever you like tho! :3

“Who are you texting?” I jumped and nearly fell off of my chair when I heard Jiho’s voice from behind me.

“What?! Oh! Uh, just… you know…” I awkwardly looked away from him. I could feel his eyes still on me but I tried my best to not look at him.

“No, I don’t know but please go on with your explanation.” He leaned against my desk and moved my chair so I was facing him. I blinked thinking of an excuse to give but I couldn’t think of one. I was finally pulled out of my thoughts when I felt him grab my phone out of my hand. I shot up and tried taking it away from him but I ended up losing my balance. I fell foreword bumping my head against his hard chest. I could feel his hands grasp my body to help me. I looked up and saw him looking down at me; my heart was thumping just like last night and I’m pretty sure he could feel my heart beat too. He let go and cleared his throat. I blinked myself into reality and ran a hand through my hair. “Who are you… Kikwang?! Lee Kikwang?!” my head shot up to him when I remembered he had my phone. I tried taking it out of his hands but it was impossible, plus I didn’t want to have the same incident happen again. “You’re going to dinner with him? Why?!” he looked into my eyes with a glare. I swallowed my saliva and bit my lip nervously. “You’re not going to dinner with him tonight.” He shoved my phone in his pocket then walked back to his office.

“What?! You can’t tell me what to do!” I finally talked back before he went into his office. He turned back and walked up to me threateningly. I took a step back when he came up to me but I tried not to look intimidated.

“Fine. Do what you want but don’t ask me for help when he asks where you live. Are you going to tell him you live with your boss?” His stare was harsh and dark. I stayed silent thinking about an answer but he was right. I can’t tell Kikwang that I live with my boss-Woo Jiho. “That’s what I thought. Go on the damn date but don’t expect me to help you explain to him that you live with me.”

“It’s not my fault I live with you! You made me move in with you!” my voice grew louder with each word. “Why do you always try to control my life? What’s so wrong with me going to dinner with Kikwang? It’s not like he’s your friend!”

“What does that have to do with any of this?!” he furrowed his eyebrows.

“You said you didn’t want me to talk to your friends because you didn’t want me to date them or be friends with them! Well, Kikwang isn’t your friend!” I saw him connect 2 and 2 together. He let out a sigh in defeat and had a look of annoyance.

“Whatever, I warned you not to go on the date. Do whatever the you want.” He dropped my phone on my desk then went back to his office. I felt somewhat bad for making Jiho so mad, but he doesn’t have the right to tell me what to do and what not to do. I grabbed my phone and looked through it; I still haven’t replied to Kikwang, but honestly I didn’t even want to go on the date anymore. I groaned but replied back with an ‘okay’ I can’t just cancel on him that’d be rude. I packed my bag and waited for the hour to end so that I could leave this hell hole. Once I saw the clock strike five I picked my bag up and walked as fast as I could to the elevator. Of course my stupid legs weren’t fast enough because I heard Jiho call me form his office. I stiffened then turned robotically to face him.

“Yes?” I said through clenched teeth. His face looked strained as if what he was about to say was hard for him to say.

“Tell… tell Kikwang to drop you off at the bus stop.” His eyes left mine and landed on the floor. “I’ll pick you up from there.” He finished then walked past me, but before he left he looked back at me, “Text me when you finish with the date.” he finished what he was saying then fixed his suit and walked to the elevator.  The ding of the elevator pulled me out of my thoughts and I rushed towards the elevator, surprisingly he held the door for me and once I was in he pressed the button to go down. The awkward silence seeped in and I couldn’t help but steal a glance at him. Why was he being so nice all of a sudden?  Usually he would tease me or at least say something but now, now it was like we didn’t know each other at all. It was as if, he built a wall between us for some unknown reason. I held in my sigh and thought of something to say to end the awkwardness.

“So, what are you doing tonight? Hanging out with Hanhae or the others?” I tried my best to make conversation but all I received was a weird look from him. “Nothing? Like at all?” I continued probing him for an answer.

“If you must know, I’m going on a date myself.” he finally answered my answer. I nodded simply not really thinking about what he said, and then it hit me.

“You’re going on a date?!” I blurted out looking at him. He had a shocked look and nodded at me. “With who?! How?!” I questioned him. Who could he possibly know?

“If you haven’t noticed I’m practically a chick magnet, just look around this building. I can’t walk around her without getting a smile from at least one girl.”

“So she works here? Don’t you think that’s a bit unprofessional?” I crossed my arms and frowned at him feeling a little annoyed by now.

“Why do you care?” he smirked at me, quickly getting on my last nerve. “It’s not like she’s your friend or anything.” He quoted my words. The elevator opened before I could say anything and he walked out. “She doesn’t even work here so there’s no need to scope her out.” he saluted me then walked to the parking lot. I balled my fists and stomped out of the elevator. I cleared my thoughts and tried to forget about Jiho. Why should I care who he goes on date with? I sighed then heard my name being called. I looked up and saw Kikwang waving at me. I smiled then walked up to him, trying to replace my thoughts of Jiho with thoughts of him.

“Is something wrong? You look a little upset.” He put a playful frown on. I laughed at his cute expression and shook my head.

“Nothing’s wrong, just tried is all. But let’s go! I’m excited for out date!” I let out a giggle then linked arms with him when he held his elbow out. We walked out to his car and then he drove off to the restaurant. “So how was work for you?” I asked him while checking the time on my phone.  It was already 5:34 and my tummy was threatening to grumble from hunger.

“It was good, just a typical day of work. How was yours?” he glanced at me and smiled.

“Mine was fine.” I replied simply. He noticed my tone of voice looked over at me again.

“Does Jiho treat you well?” he asked me concerned. I looked at him surprised but nodded as a natural reaction. Come to think of it, he never really was the nicest boss. But he had his moments that made up for it. “Trust me with your problems Catori.” He reached for my hand and squeezed it lightly. I could feel myself get nervous at his touch but I didn’t pull away.

“Thank you Kik-“

“Oppa! I can’t believe you already forgot to call me oppa!” he teased me cutely. I let out a laugh and nodded.

“Sorry~” I cleared my throat then straightened my back, “Okay let me try again, thank you oppa.” I should him my pearly whites and giggled.

“That’s better!” he smiled back then parked the car. “We’re here!” he mused. I looked at the restaurant and couldn’t help but marvel at it. I would have never have imagined myself going to a restaurant so high class ever. Like never ever in my life. I was snapped out of my thoughts when I saw my passenger door open. Kikwang was holding open for me with a smile. When I was out of the car he tossed the keys to what I assumed was the parking guy or whatever they call them. I followed Kikwang closely to the entrance. He had a smile on his face and held his elbow out for me. I accepted it and followed him in the restaurant. “Lee Kikwang.” He stated his name simply to the worker at the front. She bowed simply and instructed us to follow her. She took us to a table and set the menus down. Bowing she left us at the table and we settled down.

“This is a really pretty place.” I looked around the inside of the restaurant. The lights were dim and walls were a crème color with chocolate brown seats to complement the relaxed feel.

“It is isn’t it? I hope you like the food just as much.” he smiled then opened the menu. I also opened the menu and tried my best not to show my surprised expression. The food here was twice the amount of the food I went to get with Minhyuk. All the food seemed so foreign to me I didn’t know what to get. Honestly, the food here seemed a little unappetizing to me. “Do you know what you’re getting?” he looked up at me with a grin like always. I looked through the menu and when I couldn’t find anything I shrugged my shoulders. “Don’t worry, I’ll order for you.” He showed his pearly whites and continued looking at the menu. I nodded feeling a little embarrassed then looked at the drinks. “So Catori, tell me about yourself! How did you end up coming to Korea?” he asked me putting the menu down to look at me.

“Oh, I came here to study; it’s been about a year since I came.” I replied putting my menu down as well. I couldn’t help but get nervous at the question. He nodded smiling and took a sip of his water.

“That’s great to hear, what are you studying?” he asked another question. I don’t think he realizes that by asking me all these questions I’m getting worried by the second. I don’t want to make a bad impression on him.

“I came to study international business. I came here because I wanted to see the difference in teaching and as well as how Korea handles business.” I could feel a more professional part of me come out. It honestly felt like an interview. He was about to say something when the waiter came by and asked for our orders. After Kikwang ordered for us we continued our conversation. The food came and was served to us. I could feel my hands start to get clammy because I was worried Kikwang would judge the way I eat. I swallowed my saliva and started to cut the meat as best as I could. I was finally able to cut a piece and I put it in my mouth. The meat was different from what I usually have but it was pretty good.

“You like it?!” he asked me. I looked at him and realized he was waiting for my reaction this whole time. I could feel a blush form my cheeks and I nodded showing him a thumbs up. I swallowed and let out a nervous giggle.

“I like it! I really really like it!” I mused and laughed. Okay so I was kind of lying when I said I ‘really really liked it’ but I can’t just say it was okay. We continued eating and made small talk as we ate.

“I hope don’t seem like a boring person, it’s just hard to not get nervous in front of such a pretty girl like you.” He rubbed the back of his neck and let out a little chuckle. What? Like seriously, does this guy know how to make me feel special or what? Keep cool Catori. Keep cool. I placed my hand over my mouth and let out a small laugh of appreciation.

“Of course not, I’m having a great time!” I assured him. He nodded and finished what was left on his plate. I still had a bit on my plate but I was already full so I decided to stop. I stretched back and let out a big sigh.

“No room left for dessert?” he chuckled and I shook my head feeling defeated. He stretched too and then called the waiter for the check. “Ready to leave?” he asked me after paying the bill. I nodded then stood up from my chair. I followed him out the entrance and waited for his car. When it came he opened the door for me and then went to his door. “So where is your house so I can drop you off?” he asked as he went on the road. I let out a small laugh and shook my head.

“Don’t worry about that! I’ll take the bus!” I laughed nervously. He gave me look but nodded reluctantly. “It’s not that I don’t want to show you my house it’s just that I don’t want you driving so much.” I tried making him understand and he nodded.

“I understand, you’re worried about your oppa.” He let a grin grow on his lips with his words. I nodded and laughed.

“I’m glad you understand!” I looked over at him smiling.

“Did you have a good time?” he asked me glancing over form the road. I nodded quickly still smiling. “Sorry I couldn’t take you somewhere else, but I promise that the next date we have I’ll take you somewhere fun.” he stuck his pinky out and then linked it with mine. Our thumbs touched completing the promise. I was going to take my hand away from him but he held it in his and intertwined our fingers together. “Hope you don’t mind.” He had a playful grin on his lips. I shook my head too dumbstruck to say anything. Suddenly I was conscious of my hands; what if they felt clammy? What if they were too cold? What if they weren’t soft? Okay, calm down Catori. The more you stress about it the worse the situation. I tried not thinking about it and felt at ease when he his thumb against my hand. “Aigoo, my little Tori has such soft hands~” he chimed. I sighed inwardly in relief and smiled at him.

“Oppa has soft hands too~” What? What… did I just say? I sound so stupid. I looked over at him and saw a grin on his face. I guess he liked it? I hope so…

“I didn’t know you had so much aegyo! You should have showed me earlier!” he laughed and then parked by the bus stop. “When can I see you again?” he asked me taking his seat belt off. I took mine off too and thought about a good day.

“Hmm, maybe the weekend?” I thought about it then nodded. He smiled and nodded with me.

“Sounds great to me.” his voice lowered a tone and he looked into my eyes. “I had a good time, I hope you did too.” He smiled at me looking into my eyes, I nodded. “That’s great.”

“Thank you for the ride, I should probably go-“

“I’ll go with you, I’ll wait for the bus with you.” I looked at him surprised but nodded, not thinking clearly. He got out of the car and opened the door for me. When I got out I realized what was happening. I slapped myself inwardly but tried to act normal. I prayed to God to help me find an excuse to have him leave. I texted Jiho and told him that he could come now but to wait in the car. I got his text back and told me he was already close by. “So I was wond-“ Kikwang was cut off by his phone going off. He answered it and had an annoyed look on his face. “Alright, fine. Yeah, okay see you there.” He hung up and sighed. “I’m sorry Catori, I have to go to my father’s house to discuss work issues. I hope you understand.” He rubbed the back of his neck looking at me with sad eyes.

“Oh yeah, I completely understand! Don’t worry I can wait by myself.” I smiled thanking the Lord that something came up. He nodded but then turned his frown upside down.

“Thanks for understanding, I guess I’ll see you sometime this weekend!” he grinned and then came closer to me. I froze in my spot looking up at his eyes. I could feel his hands come around my waist as his lips come closer to mine. His sweet lips met mine softly and sweetly, for an instant I forgot about everything else. My eyes fluttered close and I my hands travelled up to his shoulders. He pulled away first with a smile and I returned it. “See you later Tori.” His voice was low but sweet like honey. I waved to him as he walked to his car and watched him drive off. My fingertips met my lips thinking about what just happened.

“Well wasn’t that just sweet.” I turned around and saw Jiho with his arms crossed. I immediately put my hand down to my side. Well, isn’t this embarrassing. “Are you done? Or do you need a little more time to recuperate from that horrible kiss?” I rolled my eyes at him and groaned.

“Let’s go.” I sighed and followed him back to the car. The drive home was silent until I mustered up the courage to ask him a question. “How long where you there?” I asked him.

“Long enough to see him lean down and kiss you and you blush bright red like a tomato.” He scoffed. “So basically everything.” He said as he turned into the parking lot. I groaned and ruffled my hair. “Okay now get out. I have a date to go to, oh and tell Kyung to come out.” he instructed me. I didn’t say much and just got out and went inside the house. I went to the living room and saw all the guys there including Hanhae. I waved at them and gave them a friendly grin.

“Wow, haven’t seen you in a while.” I heard Minhyuk say as he smiled at me. I smiled back and nodded.

“Oh, before I forget! Kyung-sshi, Jiho said to go out to the car.” I nodded towards the door. He nodded then got up and grinned at me.

“Aigoo, Catori you don’t have to be so formal~! Call me oppa!” he pinched my cheek making me wince. I grimaced as I saw him walk out.

“Tori!! Come join us in the living room!” I looked over at them and saw Ukwon waving me over. I nodded and told him I was going to change first. When I changed out of my clothes into sweats and a concert shirt I came back downstairs to the living room. “Tori you like Pierce the Veil too?!?” he looked at my shirt. I looked at it and nodded. I remember getting the shirt at the concert I went to with my friends.

“Yeah! I even went to see them in concert!” I matched his excitement and we started high fiving each other. I looked at the guitar by the sofa and asked if it was his.

“Yeah it is! I used to be in a band and I played guitar! Do you play guitar?!” I nodded vigorously.  “Can you sing?! We should sing together!” he flailed his arms in the air and wen to grab the guitar. I nodded and sat down next to him Indian style. I watched him as tuned his guitar real quick then looked at the others and saw them sitting in front of us. “Do you know Hold on Till May?” he asked and I nodded again. “Great! You can sing the chorus and the girl part and I’ll do the rest!” he instructed and I nodded obediently. He strung the guitar and began the song. I followed in with the chorus harmonizing with him. “Darlin’ you’ll be okay~” his honestly had a perfect ring to it. I air in and sang my lines.

“If you were me you do the same~~ Cause I can’t take anymore, I’ll draw the shades and close the door everything’s not alright. And I would rather~” as cheesy as it sounds I could feel the song hit my emotions and my eyes stung a bit. I saw as his fingers the strings delicately. Slowly the song came to an end and we heard the others clap loudly. I looked at them surprised because I forget they were there.

“Yah that was amazing!!” Jihoon stood up and continued clapping. I laughed and saw the other stand up and clap along.

“You’re really good Catori! You have such a beautiful voice!” Taeil beamed at me still clapping.

“Aigoo!! My little Tori has such an amazing voice!” Hanhae came over and pulled me into a hug. I heard Jihoon yell group hug and they all came in for a hug. I laughed and hugged them all back. After the huge hug I sat back down next to Ukwon and looked at him.

“You’re really good at the guitar and singing! You have a lot of talent!” I exclaimed. He smiled and thanked me. “You’re English is really good too!” his smile brightened and I couldn’t help but giggle at his adorable smile, it reminded me of a kitty. “KittyKwon!” I laughed thinking of a nickname. The others laughed at the name and I saw Ukwon blush a bit. “If you don’t like it I won’t call you that.” I told him.

“No I like it!” he smiled again and laughed. I ruffled his hair and pinched his cheeks. He scrunched up his nose then pinched my cheeks. He continued playing the guitar and I listened to the songs he played. I knew most of them and sang along with him once in a while hearing the others sing with us. I smiled to myself and looked at all of them, I barely knew them and yet they were the ones keeping me company right now.

“What are you smiling about Tori? Can’t help but admire my deviously good looks?” Jaehyo wiggled his eyebrows at me then laughed. I rolled my eyes at him and shook my head.

“No~ I’m just having fun with you guys and that’s why.” I replied still smiling. He smiled back and so did the others.

“Well I’m happy you like our company cause we definitely like yours!” he plopped next to me and ruffled my hair. We continued our little circle of music alternating the singer every once in a while.
