Without a single hint of emotion on his face, Lu Han watched inside his car as a familiar man lingered around the gates of his fiancée’s house. The male—Oh Sehun—appeared anxious and unsteady as he paced about, debating on whether or not he should ring the doorbell.
“It’s nothing,” Lu Han told himself, closing his eyes. “It’s nothing. I didn’t see anything.” When he opened them back up, he turned his car the other way around, leaving the place in a hurry. He didn’t want to remind himself of the things he saw the other night. He refused to believe they were real and considered it a simple nightmare, even though he found himself on a hospital bed when he had awoken.
He mumbled the phrase “it’s nothing” and “I didn’t see anything” over and over again as he raced through streets. He claimed to not remember, but Lu Han couldn’t help but let anger, betrayal, loneliness and sadness arise within him. Pulling his vehicle over to a halt, which earned quite a number of honks from others, he slammed down hard on his innocent steering wheel and let out a scream. He repeated this once, twice, then three times until he felt a little—but not too much—better than before. Once he calmed himself down a bit, Lu Han shifted his view towards the streets beyond the window. At that moment, he was automatically attracted to a tall figure walking down the streets; and before he could even think of anything else, Lu Han had run outside, chasing the other.
Panting, he grabbed the figure by the shoulder. “Park Chanyeol.”
“H…Han?” The male’s eyes widened in surprise and disbelief, but his expression quickly changed to that of extreme joy. “Oh god, I—” Without saying any further, Chanyeol pulled Lu Han into a bear hug, holding him tight. “I thought you wouldn’t ever see me again.”
Pushing his friend off of him, the Chinese huffed indignantly. “I wasn’t going to,” he told the other stiffly. “But I had to talk to you. Of what happened two years ago.”
An apologetic smile found its way to Chanyeol’s lips. “I’m sorry, Han. I really am. I was stupid and too quick to judge. I shouldn’t have talked to the person you love in that manner. After I heard that she got into an accident… I just—I’m sorry. Don’t forgive me.”
“That’s not what I wanted to hear from you,” Lu Han quickly retorted, brushing his fingers through his hair. “I just wanted to know… Why did you say those things about Jieun back then?”
“I don’t know, man. I told you that I didn’t get a good feeling from her, that something was off. It’s stupid if I think about it now, but that’s just what I believed then. And when Sehun told me her, I guess I couldn’t—”
Lu Han suddenly interrupted him. “Hold on. One second.” He took a deep breath before he continued, “Who told you about Jieun?” “Huh? Sehun? You know him. Oh Sehun. What’s wrong?” Hoarse laughter escaped past his lips. “Sehun. Oh Sehun.” Lu Han shook his head, laughing harder. “Lee Jieun, you—” With a look of concern, Chanyeol asked, “What’s wrong? Han, is there something going on?” Not bothering to respond, the other turned and walked back to his car, tears streaming down his pale face. <:> At one point, Jieun began to grow worried. She hadn’t heard from Lu Han in days. He didn’t return her calls or texts, which was very unlike him. Despite her previous determination to keep personal life and business separate within the company, she had even tried to visit his office—only to be told that he wasn’t there. But, fortunately or not, Lu Han’s absence made it so that Jieun could concentrate wholly on work. The piles of documents and papers steadily decreased. After carefully reading over them, she compiled all of the information into one formal report. That one report would bring about the demise of EK Corporations, and ultimately, the fall of Kim Jongin with it. She would be given the privilege of seeing the bastard
