CHAPTER 6

Sungmin’s POV

Kyuhyun told the driver where to go, he still hasn’t told me where the heck we’re going but that just adds to the excitement. All was quite in the car, Kyuhyun was resting a bit since he was tired from his part-time . two and a half weeks at school and I’m already hanging out at 10:30 PM with the person who got me on trouble at the first day. Yup, everything’s normal.

I started resting a bit to, but after about 30 seconds of closing my eyes the car stopped, I opened my eyes. Huh? Where are we? I turned towards Kyuhyun to wake him up.

“Kyuhyun-ah, wake up, we’re here”

Kyuhyun only stirred and gave a muffled moan

“Monkeyyyy, just a little more second”

Huh? Monkey? What is this?! First I was a bunny now a friggin monkey?!

“CHO KYUHYUN WAKE UP!!” I yelled as I shaked him

He jumped up and bumped his head on the car

“huh? What?”

I was laughing at his stupidity when he realized where he was, he glared at me and started rubbing his head

“Owwww”

“Why are you laughing at me bunny?! You’re so mean”

I rolled my eyes and looked out

“Kyuhyun? Where are we?”

He gave me a smile

“We’re going to ride on that thing?”

“Duh! What else do you think?!”

I looked at Kyuhyun with worry on my eyes, he looked back at me and suddenly gave a huge teasing grin

“wait a minute- don’t tell me you don’t know how to ride a bicycle?!” Kyuhyun said trying to hide his smile

“I’m a home buddy, I usually play at home, the last time I tried to ride that I came home with a huge scratch on my knee!!”

He just laughed at me

“Yah! Not all people knows how to ride that stupid thing!”

He just kept laughing at me, I got annoyed so I just walked away

“forget this! I’m going home!”

“wait! Wait!”

He yelled as I walked away, he turned me around

“Come on!, We’re already here”

“I told you, I have no idea how to ride that thing”

“Then I’ll teach you”

I looked at Kyuhyun, then at the bike, then back to Kyuhyun

I sighed in defeat

“Fine”

He smiled at me

“Come on”

He led me to the bike and he taught me all the things I need to know where the brake is, how to pedal correctly, how I should avoid speeding up on a hill, duh! I know that! I’m not stupid!

After about 30 min. I got a hang of it, after all, you only need balance and coordination, which I learned in martial arts class.

We started riding the bike, we actually started out slow but after a few minutes we sped up, it felt amazing! The wind blowing on your face, it felt refreshing. I looked at Kyuhyun who is right beside me, he was smiling while riding the bike, I never saw him smile like that. It was always smirks and teasing grins, but now, I’m seeing a different side of him.

It was a peaceful night since it was already late, a lot of people are probably sleeping right now, come to think of it, why is that bike rental still open?

“having fun?” Kyuhyun asked breaking my thoughts

I smiled “yeah, thanks Kyuhyun, this feels really good”

After a few minutes of riding we decided to take a break, we decided to rest in the park. We sat at a random bench

“You tired?”

“a little bit, but it’s alright, I really enjoyed it, thanks again Kyu” I said using his nickname

He smiled at me

“anything for you sweetheart”

I blushed at what he said but hit his arm

“Owww!”

“Don’t call me sweetheart!!”

“but why? You’re my sweetheart remember?”

“Shut it!”

He chuckled at me

It was quite for a moment, I really don’t mind, I actually enjoy the quiet time, just gazing at the peaceful night, it makes me relax.

“Why’d you take me on a bike ride?”

He didn’t answer me but instead looked down, did I say something wrong?

“Kyuhyun, are you alright, did I say something wrong?”

He looked at me with sad eyes, I got shocked, Did I really say something wrong? But the smile on his face assured me it wasn’t because of what I said

“He used to take me on rides all the time”

“huh? Who’s he?”

“my brother”

“oh”

“he used to take me away from the screams and shouts, he used to grab my hand whenever my parents fight and take me away on a bicycle ride so that I wouldn’t hear them”

He smiled sadly, I felt pity as I know his childhood because of Donghae.

“But what he didn’t know is that- I knew what they would fight about, I hear them shouting and screaming at each other’s faces every night, I would see them slapping each other like they forgot the person they once loved”

“One day, after my father ran away from us, my brother and I went on a ride but when we came back I saw my brother with a stricken face right on our door, he turned to me and told me ‘Go on a ride Kyuhyun-ah’, I didn’t question him because I knew that something bad happened, it’s what he would tell me when something bad happens”

He looked like he was spacing out while telling the story

“Then after 3 days I found myself at my mothers’ funeral”

He forced a smile and looked at me

“How sad is that?”

I knew he was trying to be strong, I looked right in to his eye

“I’m sorry” I said with a comforting tone

He smiled at me

“Yah! Why are you saying sorry it wasn’t your fault right?”

He said as he ruffled my hair, I pouted at him, how can he stay so strong, I know I have busy parents that are barely home but at least I know they love me, but Kyuhyuns’ parents left him, they’ve forgotten them. It must have been so hard for him and his brother.

“Sungmin?”

“hmm?”

“I know I was a jerk to you”

“yes you were” he glared at me

“Let me finish!”

“fine fine, sorry”

“I know I was a jerk to you, but can we start off again?”

I smiled at him

“Of course we can!”

“Well then”

He stood up and held out his hand

“Hello there, I’m Kyuhyun but for you, you can call me Kyu”

I giggled at his childishness, but I played along anyway. I also stood up and shaked his hand

“Hi! I’m Sungmin, don’t ever call me bunny”

He frowned at me

“I don’t think I can do that”

“Yah! But you said we should start off again!”

“yeah, I know what I said but calling you bunny is kind of habitual”

I pouted at him

We started riding our bikes again until I spotted a colorful place that caused me to stop

Kyuhyun must hve noticed I stopped to, so he backed away his bike to stand next to me and to see what I was staring at

He groaned

“please don’t”

“Come on Kyu, pleeaaaseee”

“Oh come on! You’ve eaten dozens of that in the party”

“but I want one right nowwwwww”

He sighed in defeat

“Fine”

I giggled happily and started walking towards the icecream parlor

Oh my gosh! It’s so beautiful! There was pink, pink and more pink and the icecreams looked beautiful, different colors and different flavors, It was just plain beautiful.

While I was fully mesmerized by the view, Kyuhyun was groaning in agony.

I turned to face him and he suddenly gave me a forced smile but I really didn’t care I was in a happy place!

Kyuhyun started ordering

“Bunny! what do you want?”

“caramel sundae!!” I automatically replied

I sat at a table near the counter and Kyuhyun followed me with our order, as soon as he sat down I started digging in.

“I can’t believe you can still eat that like it’s the most delicious thing in the world after eating it dozens of times in one day”

“ I LOVE CARAMEL SUNDAE, don’t you think it’s the most delicious thing in the world?” I said with twinkling eyes

Kyuhyun just rolled his eyes at me and started eating his own food

“What flavor is that ?”  I asked curiously

“Stawberry”

“I never knew someone like you would like strawberry”

“I got used to eating this at home because of that monkey”

“that monkey?” I asked

“He’s my bestfriend Eunhyuk, he goes at our school to”

“ohhhhh really? I didn’t know he’s your bestfriend” I knew Eunhyuk, since Donghae is practically inlove with him, he’s Donghae’s dance instructor/partner. I know, Donghae dancing? That’s strange for a nerd like him, but he’s actually pretty good.

And then I asked him the question that I have been curious for a while, I knew Kyuhyuns’ brother also studies at our school, but I never got a chance to know who he was.

“Kyu?” he hummed in response

“Who’s your brother?” he looked at me weirdly

“You don’t know? You practically hang-out with him everyday his name is Kim Jongwoon but he likes to be called Yesung, Yesung hyung”

I almost spat out my precious sundae, Yesung?! Yesung-hyung is his brother?! But- but- they have different last names!

“Yesung hyung decided to keep our fathers surname but I changed mine into my moms’ ” he said as if reading my mind

“So Yesung hyung who is my close friend is your brother and my bestfriends’ love of his life is your bestfriend”

He nodded in response

“OKayyyyy, What do I still not know about you?”

“Oh Sungmin, you have no idea how much more, some things I can’t even tell you” he said with a grin

Don’t tell me this guy is more mysterious than I am
