~ O H   Y U N W O O ~

It was yet, another day at Saekjoon High. The usual everyday occurings took place and so did the same body of students who hovered over Oh Yunwoo. Well, more like a flock of ladies.

It was lunch hour and Yunwoo was just waiting for the bell to ring so he can escape from his annoying and foolish classmates. He ignored their presence and continued reading the bulky book before him. Some were admiring his studious personality while others were idolizing his charming yet, dangerous good looks.

From afar, the dim school bells finally chimed and Yunwoo didn’t hesitate to close his book. Jumping, almost immediately to his feet from the sound of the bell, Yunwoo walked through the aisle in which the girl’s had created for him.

Dismissal had soon came around.

Once Yunwoo drew near home and unlocked the front door, delightful voices were instantly emitted from the living room. Of the voices he heard, one seemed unfamiliar. Just as he thought, there was a young woman sitting across from his mother and his father. They smiled warmly at her and offered her some more tea which she respectfully denied.

“I’m not much of a tea drinker,” she said.

“Oh, really? Would you like some coffee then? Water?” Mrs. Oh got to her feet and was ready to approach the kitchen again until the young woman stopped her.

“It’s alright. I’m not thirsty. Thank you.”

“Who is she?” Yunwoo heard the voice of his younger sister approaching him. He turned to the side and indeed, she was there, staring into the living room just as he was.

Yunwoo shrugged his shoulders.

Suddenly, the young woman averted her eyes towards the entrance of the living room and due to respect, she immediately stood up.

“Ah. Kim seongsangnim, here is our son right now.”

At the introduction from her father, Yunji’s eyes lowered and she moved out of the way for her brother to enter. Yunwoo walked in and slightly nodded his head before taking his position beside his parents. Yunji peered into the room one last time before heading to her room. Her head hanging low from the lack of attention she was receiving.

“Yunwoo-ah, this is Kim Seongsangnim. She teaches at a school filled with kids like you.  They want you to join their school.” Mr. Oh informed.

Mrs. Oh nodded, “She also has an ability of her own.”

Yunwoo glanced at the Ms. Kim, stunned from the offer. “There’s really a school for people like me?”

“Of course, there are hundreds of you. We haven’t found them all yet but we will soon,” she smiled reassuringly.

“Yunwoo-ah, I think this will be a great oppurtunity for you to get closer to your power. You need to learn how to control it in order to live a happy life.” Mr. oh grasped onto his son’s hand, hoping he’d make the right decision.

“There’s a catch though,” Ms. Kim butted in, gaining their attention. “The school is located in a place hidden from the eyes of society. Not even the government knows of its existence. We can’t allow you to see him whenever you please but he can visit you guys whenever there’s no classes or training.”

“What do you mean, seongsangnim? You hadn’t mention this to us earlier.” Mr. Oh replied, now shielding his son.

“I’m sure you’ve heard on the news that kids with these abilities are a great danger to society. If the government found out about our school, we would all be exterminated and so will your son. The school was created to protect young kids like your own. There is no harm being done, we just want to protect our students and their family.”

Mr. and Mrs. Oh thought about it for a while before Mrs. Oh approached Ms. Kim. “She’s right, yeobo. We can’t take the chance to lose our son, we have to do this.”

Disregarding his wife’s decision, he held his position firm before his son. “Isn’t there a way to make him, not him? Can’t you take his power away? We don’t want to give our son away nor do we want him to continue suffering.”

“The government has been working on a cure for it but they aren’t positive of the effects yet. If you want to take that chance, it’s up to you but in our school, we encourage our kids to cherish their powers. We help them control it and most, if not all, are quite satisfied with their lives at the moment.”

“Appa… umma, I want to go.” Yunwoo caught the attention of both his parents when he stepped out from behind his father. “I don’t want to lose my power. I want to learn how to control it. It’s what makes me different from everyone else.”

Mr. Oh nodded his head approvingly. “Arasseo. If that’s really what you want, your mother and I will help protect your secret.”

Mrs. Oh smiled and touched her son’s hand, “Work hard, son and come back home once you learn how to control it, ara?”

Yunwoo glanced at Ms. Kim who smiled in return. “This is all the information I can give you for now. Please protect your son by not leaking any of this information to anyone, even to other family members. If someone finds out, your son along with everyone else in the school will be in danger.”

The parents agreed not to tell anyone and bid farewell to their son. “Come visit us soon, okay?”

“Bwoh? Oppa, you’re leaving us?” Yunji tugged on her brother’s shirt, pulling him back.

“I’ll be back Yunji, be good to umma and appa, arasseo?” he patted her head and kissed her forehead.

She glared at his back as he walked away with Ms. Kim.
