Chapter 6: The Reason

As soon as we arrived at Jae Min’s house, we said Hi to her Mom and I quickly went to her room and plopped down on her bed while the others took their time going to Jae Min’s room. We made ourselves comfortable first, before turning on the Television.

Jae Min sited on her bed at the right corner as she propped up her legs to her chest and rested her hands on top of her knees. Seo Hyun sited at the left corner, legs stretched out, a pillow placed on top of her legs, as she leaned her back to the wall. Ran Yeon was lying down on her left side. I decided to sit on the floor since I’m near-sighted. One of my legs was bent up to my chest and the other was stretched out as I rested both of my arms on the bed while leaning back to the edge of the comfy bed.

Our positions looked like we were on a photo shoot.

Jae Min looked daring and dangerous with her emo position. Seo Hyun looked elegant and pretty with her sitting position. Ran Yeon looked so y and beautiful with her lying position. While I, looked cool and cold as I was sitting on the floor. We somehow looked like a bunch of models, ready to be taken a photo.

When my friends finally realized what they’re position were like, they bursted out laughing, and I joined them as well. That took them long enough. I just thought while holding my tummy.

“Are we on a photo shoot or something?” Ran Yeon managed to ask even though she was laughing hard.

All of us just laughed even more.

“Just turn the Television on,” Seo Hyun said, wiping her invisible tear off of her eye.

“Hey let’s watch a movie~” I eagerly suggested.

They nodded. “OK. Wait,” Jae Min turned the television on.

Ran Yeon and I were the ones to chose on the movie we were about to watch. Jae Min was fixing her DVD player, and Seo Hyun was preparing the popcorns. I already watched most of Jae Min’s movie collection until I saw a particular movie. It was a horror movie. Why does she have a horror movie in her collection? I thought while staring at the cover of the movie. Oh well, this will be fun. I shrugged. I looked at Ran Yeon and she looked at me too. Both of us evilly smiled. Ran Yeon and I like horror movies, especially if the both of us are watching with Jae Min and Seo Hyun. They don’t like horror movies at all. So that just adds the fun up.

“Please, n-not that,” a whimpering voice said.

I looked up at Jae Min. She noticed that our attention was on the DVD. Ran Yeon and I just grinned.

“We like this. We haven’t watched this yet.” We said together, while smiling ear to ear.

Jae Min sighed in defeat. She already knew she couldn’t argue with the both of us. So she just gave up.

“Yes!” Ran Yeon and I high-fived.

“Get the popcorn~” Ran Yeon hollered.

Jae Min went out of the room to help Seo Hyun with the popcorns. A couple of minutes, they came back, with 2 bowls full of popcorn on their hands.

The movie started, and just as what Ran Yeon and I expected, it was very fun. Jae Min and Seo Hyun were covering their eyes, but they were still peeking. Both of us just laughed at their behavior.

"Next time, please remind me, not to let you two choose the movie were going to watch, ok?" Jae Min stated between breathes while giving me and Ran Yeon cold glares. I just snickered at their state.

Spooky sound effects came up and I knew that a ghost will surprise our group on the next scene. I nudge Ran Yeon who was just above me lying down. She exactly knew what I was planning in mind.

The sounds became louder, both Ran Yeon and I suddenly screamed our voices out, making Jae Min and Seo Hyun jumped up in surprise and they screamed as well.

Ran Yeon and I bursted out laughing very hard. Boy, we did scare them, Classic. I smiled. They were heavily panting from the shock that we gave them as they accusingly glare at us. Jae Min and Seo Hyun finally recovered, but as they turn their attention back to the movie they were surprised again. A ghost suddenly came out of nowhere. They just screamed even louder.

I quickly covered my ears to prevent hearing their deafening scream, while Ran Yeon just laughed even more as she rolls around the bed.

Now both Jae Min and Seo Hyun were holding onto each other hyperventilating.

I decided to eat the popcorns, not bothering to watch the movie anymore when I felt something moved behind my back. Out of nowhere, a hand suddenly grabbed my shoulders. I immediately knew who did that. Jae Min and Seo Hyun tried to scare me, but fortunately, it didn’t work. I turned my head around and I stared at them with a poker face on.

“Dang, it didn’t work.” Seo Hyun snapped her fingers as she analyzes my face for reaction. I just poke my tongue out to them, and faced the Television again.

Now, they tried to scare Ran Yeon who was, in the middle of watching the movie. But, again with the same result, it didn’t work. I snickered from my seat.

“Hahaha. Nice try.” Ran Yeon said with a poker face on.

The movie was now ending, and my mind slowly drifted to my dream, and I suddenly remembered him.

What is he doing now?

He’s probably hanging out with his friends too.

I wonder where he is now.

I hope he’s doing fine.

When will I meet hi-.

“Hey, earth to Yun Jae~” Ran Yeon was waving her hand in front of my face, snapping me out of my trance. I was zoning out again.

I looked up to see my friends while blinking. “Sorry, what were you saying?”

They stared at me with an unreadable expression. "Nevermind," Ran Yeon sighed.

"O-kay" I shrugged.

Jae Min reached for the control and switched the Television off.

My forehead creased, “Hey, the movie hasn’t ended yet!”

“Actually, it already ended.” She said flaty with the same unreadable expression like earlier.

I froze. What? Did I zone out that long?

“Yun Jae, please come up here” Seo Hyun patted the space next to her.

I took a deep breathe, having a pretty good idea that we are going to have a meeting again, and also what the discussion might be about.

“What’s wrong?” Jae Min started.

You shrugged, “Nothing’s wrong,” I already knew this was going to happen.

“OK. Nothing is wrong, but what is happening to you?” Seo Hyun asked softly, like a caring Mother would, but sadly, I don’t experience this often with my own Mother.

“You’ve been zoning out these couple of days” Ran Yeon stated out.

I just smiled, touched that my friends truly do care about me; it’s no wonder that they are my friends.

I sighed in defeat, “OK, you got me.” I waved my hands high, showing that I have given up.

Seo Hyun smiled, “So tell us, what are you thinking of?”

It took me a couple of minutes to speak again, hesitating to tell them or not.

I looked at them awkwardly, “I’m afraid that you’ll just laugh at me” I said.

“Seriously? We always laugh at each other” Jae Min said bluntly.

“Do you have to be like that at times like this?” Seo Hyun said as she eyed Jae Min. I was about to say something when Jae Min beat me to it.

“You want a foot on your mouth?” Jae Min retorted.

“Girls, can’t you be serious at anything?” Ran Yeon butted in. I was about to say something again when Jae Min beat me to it, again.

“You’re the one to talk.” Jae Min said.

I sighed. Jae Min is not giving me the time to talk. “I give up. You don’t want me to talk? Fine. I’ll just go home.” I was about to stand up when Jae Min yanked my arm.

“Wait, I’m sorry. Please continue” Jae Min said apologetically. I smiled. I knew, she was sincere, so I remained in my seat.

I looked down on my lap. I knew this day would come. I’ll eventually spill it out someday so might as well tell them now. I thought while taking deep breaths.

 “OK. The reason that I was zoning out these days is because. .” I turned my head around and quickly shut my eyes.

“IdreamtaboutaguyandIthinkhe’smydreamguy” I said quickly.

3 2 1…

"......."

Silence. I was expecting to hear my friends laugh, but I was surprised that I didn’t hear anything, so I curiously took a quick glance at my friends. They were just smiling at me.

“You think we’d laugh about that?” Seo Hyun said, and I just nodded, dumb-founded.

“I already dreamt about a guy in my dream, if that counts,” Seo Hyun chuckled, “wait that does counts.” She froze then tilted her head; I just narrowed my eyes on her then laughed.

“Me too.” Jae Min said. The three of us looked at Ran Yeon expecting to hear something from her.

Her eyes widen, “What? I haven’t dreamt about a guy” Ran Yeon said raising both of her hands.

Instead of laughing at me, they started to laugh at Ran Yeon. Ran Yeon grew confused on the sudden outburst. I’m quite surprised myself, Ran Yeon is the type of girl to fantasize about love and her biases, so you were expecting that she had already dreamt about a guy, that is not her bias of course.

 “So tell us about your dream.” They returned their attention back to me.

I told them my entire dream. Telling them every detail, every action and how I felt toward the guy. I felt a great weight was taken away from me while telling them my dream. I got to admit, it was hard keeping it from them.

After I told them about my dream they were looking at me weirdly, they were grinning like some retarded people.

“Why are you girls looking at me like that?” I tilted my head to the side while pouting.

“You’re in love.” They said in unison.

I just stared at them with wide eyes.
