Chapter 3: Introduction
 

School started and it was finally Friday. My friends and I are currently eating our lunch at the cafeteria. My group was seated at the far corner and the tables beside ours were empty because no one dared to sit there because they are scared of us.

Our group is somehow popular in school. My friends and I were considered, uhm, actually we don’t know. Some look up to us as Queenkas and some, well, loners. Our group is loved and feared at the same time; Loved, because of the looks and brains that my group has and for that, we don’t trust other people other than ourselves because we know very well that people will only befriend us, because of that; And feared, because our group treats other people so rudely. We are being cold to them to push them away. We’re acting trolls and pranksters just so people will avoid our group.

Hence, our group has different nicknames in our school. People tried to avoid us while the other students which are the Queenka ‘wannabes’ try to confront us but they fail to do so because we fight back verbally. We don’t let other people push us around but due to our groups’ rude attitude some of the real queenkas bully us girls. And the thing is, even though all of us has a rough attitude, we don’t fight back physically, because we know, that fighting will bear no good outcome.

We rather prefer it if our group were considered as the loner ones rather than one of the Queenkas of the school.

The cafeteria is currently loud and noisy as students enter the cafeteria to eat lunch. Some students were gossiping, chatting and talking like there’s no tomorrow. The other queenkas were laughing crazily with there high-pitched voice, trying to get the attention of the Kingkas, which, of course, failed.

“They are such a flirt, look at their faces! It’s covered with thick make-up!” Ran Yeon whined as she pointed to the table where the ‘wannabe’ queenkas were seated.

She’s Cho Ran Yeon. The most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen here in school, so far. She’s the second youngest in the group but she acts as if she’s the maknae of the group, even though I’m the maknae. In our group, she’s the fashionista. She's quite lazy and doesn't want to lift a finger when it comes to chores, she'd whine and complain if she's forced to do so. She’s the most girly in our group, but sometimes she acts like a tomboy. She’s very aggressive to people and has a very sharp tongue. Ran Yeon dreams to be model, which is not hard to achieve in her case. She has the beauty, the brain and personality. She likes to talk a lot and she would be all crazy and weird with us.

The rest of us just nodded in agreement. Well, she’s right. Their faces were covered with make-up; it was so thick that you have to look at them in horror.

My friends and I can’t stand and don’t like make-up. Our faces feel so heavy and irritated every time we wear make-up that it’s making us uncomfortable. We only wear make-up if there’s a special occasion and if it’s needed, and that’s somehow rare to us.

Our group was eating lunch quietly when we overheard a conversation at the table near ours.

“Hey. I heard, one of the nerds was bullied again, and I heard that it was pretty bad. Her face was filled with bruises that it’s hard to tell if that’s her.” One of the girls said, earning snickers from her friends.

Okay, that’s just heartless. I thought while drinking my water.

“Again?! Why do people bully other people? That’s so irritating.” Jae Min said out loud, waving her hands up high.

She’s Cho Jae Min. Ran Yeon and her are cousins, and they have practically the same mind. Jae Min is the cutest girl I’ve ever seen in this school, so far. She has a lot of passion in dancing and acting. Sometimes she’s shy, but mostly she’s outspoken.  She’s the most athletic in our group, but she has the lowest stamina among us. Even though she’s the most tomboyish girl in the group, she loves to act cute (but only to us). Jae Min is very daring, she’s a daredevil. In short she’s the troublemaker of the group. Even though she has a tough attitude, she’s actually sweet and caring.

“Yeah! If were rude, their heartless.” Seo Hyun agreed.

She’s Shin Seo Hyun. She’s the leader in our group. She’s 1 year older to me and Ran Yeon.  She’s the prettiest unnie, I’ve ever seen in this school. She can be an idiot sometimes but that just add up, on why we love her. She loves to doodle. She likes to rap and cook. Even though she’s an idiot, she can be wise at times. In our group, she's the best listener and she would always know when is the right time to ask and when someone should be left alone when one of us has a problem to handle. She always prioritizes her loved ones before herself. She cares for us and her family more than she cares for herself.

Every one of us is unique. All of us have different personalities, but we still find ourselves very compatible with each other. They were there when I needed someone to talk to, they were there when I was alone, and they were there when I feel angry and I just want to vent it out and just want to cry. They were there, to stick with me, in ups and down. Whenever I’m with them, it’s as if I feel that I’ve already known them for years, and now they mean so much to me and they play a big role to my life.

 “I wonder what ‘Wild Cards’ would do next.” one of the girls commented.

Our ears perked up when we heard the name ‘Wild Cards’. That group consists of 4 members. No one knows who they are but they are known to be notorious and cruel.

“I just hope this bullying will end someday” I just said, and the others just nodded in agreement.

“So, My Mom said last Saturday that there will be movers tomorrow” I said, trying to change the topic.

“Really? Are there any handsome guy?” Seo Hyun asked

I chuckled at her question. “I said tomorrow, Seo Hyun.” Ran Yeon and Jae Min just laughed.

It took her a minute to process that. “Ohh…” She said while nodding. “Okay. Tell us if they’re any cute or handsome guys, ok?” She grinned.

 And I just laughed along.

“Where are they moving? Is it near your house?” Jae Min asked.

I shook my head slightly, “Nope, it’s the neighborhood next to us. You know, where the big houses are.”

“Oh, I see.” She hummed in response.

And we continued eating quietly. The silence didn't quite bother me. It was a comfortable silence. 

 “Hey, I heard that there will be new transferees next week.” The girls near our table gossiped again. We sighed.

Really, they love to gossip. I thought as I silently finish my lunch.

“I hope it’s a bunch of handsome boys.” One said earning ‘Yeahs’ from her sit mates.

“I wonder what section they will be put in.” Ran Yeon wondered as she tilted her head to the side.

“I don’t care, but I just hope that it’s not one of our sections.” Jae Min said while finishing her lunch.

Our School is known to be a prestigious school. There’s a section system, where they base your grades on what section you will be. If your grades are high, they’ll put you in a higher section but if your grades are low, they’ll put you on a lower section. They are 5 sections all in all in each year level.

Currently, Jae Min and I are in the second section while Seo Hyun and Ran Yeon are in the third section.

Our group finished eating lunch early. We still have a little time till the school bell ring so we decided to fix ourselves and talk for a little while more. All of us don't really want to be separated from each other. We will rather prefer to spend our free time with talking with each other.

We were on our own world, when the school bell rang. We quickly left our table and I bid my goodbye’s with the others.

Boring classes are about to start again. Augh! I just sighed heavily.

Thank God it’s Friday! I thought before entering the room.
