Kyuhyun couldn’t sleep for most of the night. His head was running fast playing all kinds of scenarios on what would happen next. He had unexpectedly confessed his feelings to Siwon and he had said he would wait for the other’s answer. However, his heart was anxiously scared of it.

What if he doesn’t feel the same way? What if he just pities me? What is gonna happen next? It’s gonna be awkward for sure and… now that I know how I feel about him, will my heart ever stop pumping when he’s around?

Deeply sighing for the umpteenth time that night, Kyuhyun decided to give up on trying falling asleep. Looking at the clock on the bed side table, he couldn’t help but whine at how early it was… 5am.

“What am I supposed to do now?”

Looking down at his tummy, Kyuhyun lovingly rubbed his now grown belly while a lovely smile etched across his lips.

“Are you having fun in there? You must be happy to have each other, right? … Your daddy will also be happy to have you… I don’t know if I will be allowed to meet you but… I hope your daddy will let me”

Turning gloomy all of a sudden, Kyuhyun decided to take a bath and try to forget about everything for now. He said he would wait and even though it hurt to know that Siwon still had to think about his feelings, he just hoped for the best.

Feeling fresh, Kyuhyun was headed downstairs to make something for an early breakfast, deep inside, hoping he would eat quickly so to not run into Siwon. He didn’t know how he would react after his sudden confession and he didn’t wish for things to be awkward between them. Nonetheless, he was kind of scared of how Siwon would behave now that he knew the younger loved him.

Pausing in his steps, Kyuhyun nervously chewed on his bottom lip as he found himself standing in front of Siwon’s room. He slowly tiptoed closer and pressed his ear on the door to see if he could hear any movement and when he didn’t, his hand unconsciously gripped the door handle and slowly opened it.

Peeking his head inside, Kyuhyun silently cursed at his irrational move. However, when his gaze landed on the neatly made bed, his self-scolding was soon forgotten, especially when it seemed like the room had been empty for quite a while.

Did he already wake up?

Turning on his heels, Kyuhyun slowly headed downstairs while carefully scanning his surroundings. His heart was jumping in his chest at the thought of seeing Siwon, but as he kept walking even further into the living room and reaching the kitchen, his face expression fell when he couldn’t spot him.

Feeling a pout forming on his lips, Kyuhyun protectively rounded his arms around his belly as he tried to get over his disappointment.

“Is he avoiding me?”

Sighing, he resumed his walk inside and as he reached the kitchen, his eyes lit up when they fell on the food laid on the counter. Excitedly, he skipped to snatch the note neatly pressed under the tray and impatiently opened it.

‘Good morning, Kyu. I hope you had a good sleep. I have some early business to tend to in the office so I hope breakfast won’t be too cold when you wake up. I’ll call you later so we can go visit your brother… if you’d like me to accompany you of course

See you later

=Siwon=

Literally jumping in his seat, Kyuhyun found himself grinning as he read the note a couple of times, his eyes lingering at his new nickname which he immediately wanted to hear it with his own ears. He giggled when he imagined how tomato red his face would be then.

Later that morning as Kyuhyun lazily lied on his bed, his head replaying how it first started when he was hopelessly looking for a way to keep his brother alive, to how he met Siwon and got pregnant, to how he eventually found himself falling for the guy who became a big part of his life. He was trying to be optimistic about Siwon’s feelings, yet he was secretly terrified of his love being only one sided.

He never planned on falling in love with Siwon, just like he didn’t plan for the babies to be actually two, which was another dilemma that he decided to not focus on at the moment because it pained him to think of how he was going to give up on the bundles growing inside him.

Too immersed in his thoughts, his body jerked when his phone rang. Checking to see who it was, his eyes widened and he immediately pressed the answer button.

“Siwon Hyung!”

He instantly regretted his cheerful tone but when he heard a slight giggle from the other line, he couldn’t help but blush.

> Good morning Kyuhyun <

Disappointed that he didn’t get to hear his new nickname, the surrogate pouted as he hummed for a reply.

> How are you feeling? <

“I’m okay”

> You don’t sound okay <

“I’m just still sleepy”

He lied, not wanting to sound childish and act as if they were already dating even though he would love that.

> Okay. Well, I called to tell you that you should get ready because Henry will pick you up in a few minutes and I’ll meet you at your house, is that okay with you? <

“You really don’t have to”

> I want to <

Smiling, Kyuhyun’s grip on the phone tightened as his heart started nervously dancing and a feeling in the pit of his stomach had formed.

“Okay”

> See you in a bit? <

“Hmm”

Love was a new feeling to Kyuhyun. Except the couple of crushes he had back in high school and college, he had never experienced true love which was why he was scared of his newly found feelings.

He never even thought he would ever like someone of the same gender but something about Siwon just made it all irresistable. His heart tightened whenever he thought of him and he actually liked that feeling. True that he couldn’t hide his sadness about the older’s feelings toward him, which he was yet to know, but he stayed hopeful.

Standing in front of the closet, the surrogate scanned his wardrobe from side to side wondering what he should wear. His belly had grown a few inches now and he really didn’t like wearing loose shirts.

Deciding on a white round-neck t-shirt and black pants that weren’t as tight as he usually wore before when he wasn’t pregnant, but it still accentuated his thighs nonetheless, making him look very tempting to the eye, which was secretly his goal.

Satisfied with his outfit, Kyuhyun was done on time as the doorbell rang. When he opened the door for Henry, the small driver was in awe as he teasingly whistled while eyeing Kyuhyun from head to toe, leaving the latter smilingly blushing.

“Who said you can’t look good when you’re pregnant!”

Kyuhyun’s blush deepened and he rolled his eyes at Henry’s words as he walked passed him toward the elevator.

“Are you trying to impress someone, Kyuhyun?”

“Would you stop it? I look… normal”

“Ha! Normal? I can smell your perfume from across the street!”

Kyuhyun snapped his head at Henry, jaw falling ajar at how exaggerated his words were.

“Can we just go please?”

Henry chuckled, motioning for Kyuhyun to go inside as the lift arrived.

As they reached Kyuhyun’s building, the younger spotted Siwon standing by the entrance looking as gorgeous as ever in his neat white shirt with sleeves rolled up to his elbows and black pants, hands in his pockets as he let his eyes roam his surroundings.

Kyuhyun’s heart fluttered and he had to take a very deep breath when Henry opened the door for him to step out.

When Siwon noticed them, he approached the car and suddenly froze when Kyuhyun stood in front of him. His eyes grew in amazement as they scanned the surrogate from head to toe, and when he got to his face and their gazes met, he had to gulp at how beautiful and glowing the younger was looking.

“H-Hey”

The flushing Kyuhyun tried to break the awkward moment feeling his face on fire from the intense look he was getting, although it did make him feel flattered.

“Kyu”

The surrogate’s eyes slightly widened at the nickname he was hoping to hear, and he shyly bit on his lower lip to block the foolish smile that was about to break then he slowly whispered “Yes?”

“You look… beautiful”

Siwon’s eyes couldn’t move from what he thought is the perfect face. He had known Kyuhyun for months and he wasn’t blind to not notice how beautiful he is, yet right now, he was looking simply perfect with his hair brushed back, letting his porcelain forehead shine and letting way to his almond shaped brown eyes which seem to be accentuated with eyeliner, leaving him simply mesmerized.

Never in his twenty seven years of life did Siwon ever experience such an attraction toward another being. He had liked girls before but this feeling was way different. He wasn't gay that was for sure, but he couldn't deny the way his heart beat simply by staring at Kyuhyun's beauty.

Unconsciously, he moved forward and placed a peck on the glowing forehead making Kyuhyun’s eyes immediately flutter close.

Siwon didn’t know if it was the boy’s confession getting him this reaction, or simply the way Kyuhyun’s clothes were nicely hugging his chubby body with that top that gave him quite a view at the surrogate’s milky neck and collarbone. Flashes of the times they helped each other appeared before his eyes and he had to pull away and momentarily look away, clearing his throat before gazing back at the flushed boy who looked exquisite with his cheeks tinted red and his teeth grazing his plump lip.

Stretching his arm, the younger welcomed the warm hand reaching out for his, tightly holding onto it and obediently following Siwon inside the building, the other hand tracing the spot on his forehead while hoping for his heart to not explode due to the frantic beating it was experiencing.

On the side, Henry, who had been invisible to the couple, had a very big grin on his face as he told himself that his boss and Kyuhyun would make the perfect couple if only they realize that they were too head over heels with each other.

Stepping inside the elevator, which Kyuhyun was thankful it was working because his feet were wobbly and not because of his pregnancy but the impact of the man holding his hand, Siwon’s hold tightened and he pressed Kyuhyun’s body closer to his, shoulders touching, not intending to let go.

Kyuhyun was a nervous mess. His face was on fire, his body was shaking and his heart was off-beat. Siwon have held his hand before but not as long as now and not as tight, and so you can imagine how happy he felt especially now that he realized he was in love with the man.

Slightly shifting in his place, he rested his free hand over his tummy, gently caressing it as he relished in the warmth spreading across his body.

“Are you okay?” Siwon concernedly asked, noting the redness had increased on Kyuhyun’s face and the way his hand trembled as it rubbed his pregnant belly.

The younger was taken aback by the question and the worried orbs that were staring at him and so he could only nod.

“Are you sure?”

Nodding again, Kyuhyun shyly bit on his lower lip as he hanged his head down making Siwon more curious.

“Are the babies giving you trouble again?”

Shaking his head, Kyuhyun sighed at how persistent Siwon was acting because he felt really embarrassed and he didn’t really want to share the reason with the older. However, sensing Siwon about to ask again, he took a deep breath, looked up, and carefully held Siwon’s hand up to his chest, right above his heart.

Siwon was shocked at first but just as his palm felt the frantic beats coming from Kyuhyun’s heart, his eyes bulged out and he looked dumbfounded at the surrogate.

“Why is your…” He couldn’t finish his sentence because the look Kyuhyun was giving him and the way he simply looked at him left him speechless.

“Because of you”

A whisper, yet it managed to make Siwon’s heart flutter as well, taking a step forward until Kyuhyun’s belly was the only barrier between them.

There was something magical coming from Kyuhyun’s eyes that Siwon felt himself unconsciously leaning forward, and to which the younger blinked, not sure if he was reading it right.

It felt like Siwon was about to kiss him but Kyuhyun didn’t want to get his hopes up. The older’s hand was still pressed tightly on his chest while the other one gently caressed his cheekbone, as light as a feather’s touch while he was too lost in the firework emotions playing inside him at the moment.

As much as he fought hard not to close his eyes, Kyuhyun eventually did. The warm breath that hit his face and Siwon’s scent that filled his nostrils made him forget everything and only yearn for that kiss. Noses touching, each leaned his face to a side to welcome the other’s lips. They didn’t even hear the ding from the elevator as they were too immersed in the moment.

Unfortunately, as the doors were about to open, a high hitched voice echoed making them jump apart.

“Kyunnie!”

“C-Chullie hyung”

Jumping away from each other, Siwon looked away while Kyuhyun cleared his throat and let his lips curve into a smile. The surrogate was happy to see his hyung as they haven’t met for some time now, but he also couldn’t help the disappointment that was written all over his face about the almost kiss he was about to have with Siwon.

“What’s wrong?”

Heechul curiously asked with narrowed eyes, noting the deep blush on his dongsaeng’s face and Kyuhyun knew he couldn’t lie because his hyung always knew when he did.

“Kyu-“

“You look beautiful today, hyung! Like Cinderella indeed!” Instead, he cheerfully exclaimed to avoid the river of questions that were about to get thrown at him, and it worked like it always does.

“Stop it… You know I am more beautiful than her” Heechul grinned with an eye roll, trying to act modest although that was a quality that he wasn’t very familiar with.

Kyuhyun threw a side glance at Siwon who was giggling at the scene and the younger shot him a little smile before facing his hyung again.

“What are you doing here?”

“What? I can’t come visit my friend?”

“No, it’s just-“

“Whatever, come on I have a surprise for you”

Heechul then dragged him out of the elevator and toward the apartment, leaving Siwon heaving a deep sigh, disappointed yet quite confused about what was about to happen between him and Kyuhyun.

“Close your eyes”

“Hyung!”

Kyuhyun pouted, not in the mood to play surprise at the moment because his heart was still shaking from the almost kiss he was going to have with Siwon. The kiss he dreamt of oh so many times before.

“Brat! Just do it!”

Stealing a glance behind him, Kyuhyun lovingly gazed at Siwon who smilingly nodded at him to listen to his hyung before closing his eyes with a sigh.

He could hear the door opening and although he usually would have been very curious about what was happening, his mind just wasn’t with him. He could only replay the scene that happened in the elevator over and over again, reliving how he was lost in Siwon's closeness, and the feeling of the latter’s touch that was still lingering on his face.

“Surprise!”

Startled, he carefully opened his eyes and his jaw dropped open when he saw the person standing before him.

“Hangeng hyung! What are you doing here?”

He was soon engulfed in a tight hug which made the tears well up in his eyes. Hangeng was Donghae’s best friend and always took care of Kyuhyun before and after the accident. It felt lonely when he was transferred to China for his job, but Heechul was there for him to not make him feel left by everyone dear in his life.

It had been a while since he had met Hangeng and so he hugged him back just as tight as he whispered how much he had missed him.

As they settle down on the couch, Siwon was left standing by the doorstep, eyes only on Kyuhyun and how he was being pampered by his two hyungs at the moment. He was sandwiched between them as they kept teasing him and rubbing his belly making him blush and pout.

The smile was glued on Siwon’s face at the view, and as he recalled what was about to happen in the elevator, he wasn’t sure if he should feel relieved or upset that they were interrupted.

Kyuhyun’s confession had made his feelings all riled up. He can’t deny that something moved inside him after the surrogate came to his life, but he had built a wall in front of his heart a long time ago and he wasn’t sure about taking it down yet. Sure there was this strange feeling whenever Kyuhyun was near, and sure, now that he thought of it, he couldn’t stop himself from thinking about the boy whenever he wasn’t around. However, he was still rather lost in confusion over what to feel or if he should feel that way.

The doorbell rang, cutting Siwon’s train of thoughts, and as he snapped out of his trying-to-figure-out-his feelings reverie, he found Kyuhyun questionably staring at him wondering who it could be.

“Are you expecting someone?” Heechul asked and Kyuhyun shook his head while looking at the nervous man who quickly turned to open the door.

“Hey boss!”

“Hyukjae hyung?”

Kyuhyun walked to the door about to greet Hyukjae, but stopped when he saw the man standing behind him, shaking Siwon's hand and smiling at him.

He curiously waited for some introduction and Siwon quickly obliged.

“Kyuhyun, this is Dr Kim Young-woon. He’s a friend of mine and after I explained to him your brother’s condition, he was willing to help”

“Hi Kyuhyun-ssi. There are similar cases where the surgery doesn't go well and the patients go into a coma although there's no medical reason for them not to wake up, just like your brother. Now I recently read about a trial they performed in the UK to stimulate the brain cells which worked on three patients out of five. It's not a sure thing but I would like to try it on your brother”

The doctor explained and Kyuhyun could only repeatedly blink while trying to process what he just heard. Three out of five is a great odd unlike what he heard from the doctors who told him his brother was just as dead, and the tears suddenly well up in his eyes which left Siwon puzzled and afraid he did something wrong and so he quickly added “If that’s okay with you of course”

As if his body had a brain of its own, Kyuhyun lunched himself on Siwon, arms around the man’s neck hugging him tight as he chanted “Thank you, thank you, thank you”

Siwon was startled by the sudden crash and so it took him a few seconds before realizing that Kyuhyun was really hugging him. When he did, his arms instantly wrapped back around Kyuhyun’s waist, his heart strongly drumming and he had a sudden urge to pull Kyuhyun even closer, but he couldn’t due to the belly trapped between them. So instead, he buried his nose in Kyuhyun’s hair, the strong smell of vanilla amusing his nostrils. Then, he moved his head to rest on Kyuhyun’s shoulder, burying his face in the boy’s exposed skin.

Kyuhyun was so happy about the slight hope that his brother may wake up soon that he couldn’t stop himself from hugging the man who made it all true. Each day Siwon had managed to do something that make him realize just why he fell in love with the man and he definitely had no regrets.

He was too lost in imagining what he would do if his brother woke up but snapped out of it when he felt something soft land on his neck. Frowning, he tried to make sure if he did really feel it or he just imagined it, but when he felt that softness again, his heart fluttered because Siwon just kissed his neck… twice.

Later that night...

Slowly heading downstairs, Kyuhyun took deep breaths and walked to the kitchen where Siwon was back facing him preparing their dinner.

His face instantly blushed at the memory of their recent hug, which they only broke free from because someone had to fake a cough and interrupt their moment. It was awkward for the others maybe, but for Kyuhyun, he never felt more safe or comfortable in his entire life, although, he later had to avoid the river of questions that were thrown at him by his two hyungs when Siwon was talking with the doctor, questions that he, himself, had no particular answer for.

“You’re up”

Kyuhyun jerked at Siwon’s voice that brought him back from his thoughts, smilingly nodding as he stepped closer and took a seat on the counter.

“Did you have a good nap?”

Another smiling nod but this time it didn’t really reach Siwon’s eyes and so he concernedly walked to him and while gently resting a hand over his back, he worriedly asked “Is everything okay?”

Kyuhyun felt his eyes suddenly watering making him bit on his lips to stop the tears from falling down. He could feel the warmth coming from Siwon’s hand that was rubbing his back and he momentarily closed his eyes to enjoy it.

“Kyu?”

“I’m okay” He exclaimed, staring into Siwon’s worried orbs and wishing he could look into them forever.

“Are you sure?”

Taking a deep breath, he genuinely smiled at Siwon before standing up “Be right back” then dashing back to his room.

Siwon stood there dumbfounded watching Kyuhyun run as fast as he could with the belly in front of him, then returning a couple of minutes later with some papers in hand.

“Here”

Knitting his eyebrows, Siwon stared at what looked like a check and a few bills handed to him before curiously looking up at the nervous boy.

“What’s this?”

“Y-your money”

Raising an eyebrow, Siwon inspected the writing on the check and realized what it was for. The bills must be from Sapphire hope which looked like what was left of Kyuhyun's pay check for the pregnancy, and the other was in his handwriting. It was the check he offered Kyuhyun to accept being his surrogate. The check he recently found out that Kyuhyun only accepted it to help his brother.

Getting no response, Kyuhyun decided to clarify his intention “Now that you know the reason I took that money in the first place, and since you don’t want me involved in the treatment you got for my brother, you can have it back”

“K-Kyuhyun”

Siwon was shocked. True that he told Kyuhyun he would take care of the doctor’s expenses but that didn’t mean that he wanted his money back.

“I know that you mean well, but… I don’t deserve this money”

Putting a sincere smile, Kyuhyun put the checks on the counter and tiptoed to land a peck on Siwon’s cheek.

“I’ll be in my room if you need anything”

Standing there like a statue, Siwon didn’t dare to move as he was quite surprised by Kyuhyun’s gesture. Just when he thought he got over his guilt for misjudging him, the surrogate would do something like this to put him back to square one.

Shortly staring at the money laid over the counter, he took a deep breath and picked it up before following Kyuhyun upstairs.

Walking inside Kyuhyun’s bedroom, he found the boy lying on his bed staring at the ceiling not aware of his presence yet. He cleared his throat to make himself noticed making Kyuhyun quickly sit down and curiously eye him.

“This is rightfully yours” As he put the bills on the night stand table next to Kyuhyun’s bed. “This…” Waving his check before adding “I will take back because I know how bad you felt when you accepted it”

Speechless, Kyuhyun could only nod, blushing when Siwon leaned down and pressed a kiss on his temple. It was the fourth kiss of the day and Kyuhyun’s heart didn’t think he could take any more.

Nevertheless, when the man turned around to leave, Kyuhyun’s mouth suddenly blurted out “C-can you kiss me?”

Siwon stood frozen in his spot, wondering if he had heard him right. When he faced the boy again, Kyuhyun had his eyes closed and hands nervously clutching on the sheets not sure if he was regretting his words, or anticipating Siwon's reaction.

“I mean only if you want to… if not just leave. Don’t say anyth-“

Before he could finish, Siwon’s lips landed on his, making him hold his breath because although he had received a peck on the lips from Siwon before, this… felt way more different, completely different.

Nipping on his upper lip for a few seconds then doing the same to his lower lip before pulling away and whispering “I’ll call you when dinner is ready”

Only when he heard the door close that Kyuhyun dared to open his eyes, letting go of his breath and letting his shaky hand trace his lips.

Did he just kiss me?

Surprisingly, dinner wasn’t awkward at all. If anything, Kyuhyun felt pampered as he was intently being taken care of, even being fed by Siwon.

They didn’t talk about the kiss of course, but the smiles on their faces were proof enough that neither had regretted it.

After they finished eating, Siwon did the dishes and Kyuhyun silently watched him, throwing comments here and there and casually chatting together before moving to the couch to watch a movie, to which Kyuhyun fell asleep by the middle and Siwon had to carry him to his room again… not that he minded though.

It was a long day full of so many events but the most important part was how Siwon and Kyuhyun connected and how they were both accepting of one another.

It may seem to Siwon that he needed time to figure out his feelings, however, his actions around Kyuhyun only showed that he really didn’t have to think about it. His heart was already leaning towards the man carrying his babies and he just needed a little push to finally admit it.
