Episode 12

❝ We Got Babies! ❞

February 25

Kim Jongdae let out a big sigh as he sat alone by the side of the room, watching his wife. Soojin and daughter Chun Hei play together as the former tickled the 5 year old girl to an endless laughter. I wish I can do that to her too... he thought as he couldn’t help but get a little jealous with his wife when it comes to their daughter.

“What’s with the big sigh? Chen?” Hwayoung asked as she walked her way to him and sat on the nearest chair.

“Nothing.” Chen answered but couldn’t help but pout still when he saw Chun Hei hug Soojin tightly while the two of them laughed.

Hwayoung followed Chen’s gaze and realized the reason why. “Ahhh...” Hwayoung nodded. “You know...” Hwayoung was cut short when she heard the doorbell from the door. She looked at the room she was in and knew that no one noticed except for her. They were too busy spending time with their families after all. And so, she looked at Chen who was waiting for what she would say and she smiled. “Things will work out.” She then gave him a pat and stood, walking out of the room.

On her way to the front door, she saw little Jaesun pouting as he sat on carpeted floor rather sitting on the couch.

“Jaesun, is something wrong?”

Jaesun looked up but answered nothing.

Foul mood huh?  Hwayoung thought and decided to leave him to calm down first.

The doorbell rang again and it felt like it was ringing Hwayoung’s head instead. God, does nobody hear this annoying doorbell?

She finally reached the door and a man dressed like a postman was standing by the door, holding a letter. “Thanks...” She murmured and slightly smiled at the postman before closing the door on him. Didn’t know that there are still postmen these days. She thought in irony and looked at Jaesun again. This time, their eyes met and Hwayoung smiled. “Wanna come along?”

Jaesun nodded and stood as he held Hwayoung’s hands. When she turned the envelope, it was written in an elegant font style ‘Chen and Soojin’. A sly smile was evident on Hwayoung’s lips as she might have a hint on what will come for the next few days. She went back to the playroom with Jaesun and was even happier to see that Chen has now stepped up a notch and went to bond with his family.

“What’s that, Youngie?” An arm wrapped around her. The-oh-so familiar voice of her closest friend was like knowing her own.

Hwayoung’s smile reached her ears now. “A letter for Chen and Soojin.” She answered as she turned to meet the eyes if her best friend, Jangmi.

Jangmi matched up her grin and she turned to call. “Soojin-ah!”

Soojin looked up from the book she was reading for her daughter and when she saw Jangmi and Hwayoung waving at her to come, she absently handed the book to Chen who was flabbergasted on why she gave the book to him. Chen and books is never a good match!

“What’s up?” Soojin asked when she reached the two girls.

“This is for you.” Hwayoung handed the letter, her eyes gleaming with excitement.

“Oh god.” Soojin couldn’t help but gasp.

Kyungmi who was nearby heard her and was curious. “What is it? What is it?” She skipped her way to the crowd that is suddenly growing and growing by the minute.

“Uhh... excuse me~” Chen awkwardly said as he tried to inch his way to where her wife is, holding a slightly frowning Chun Hei on her wrist. Once successful, he looked at the crowd around them. “What is this all about?”

“Chen, there is a letter for us.” Soojin said; her face a bit pale from the shock.

“Is that what I think it is?” Yunmi asked absent-mindedly. Holding on to Sooyeon’s arm who was just as curious that she never took her eyes off the letter.

Minjung rolled her eyes as if the answer wasn’t obvious and was about to retort when a hand covered .

Chen looked at Soojin and decided to take the letter from her and opened it himself. He cleared his throat as he began to read.

To Chen and Soojin,

Congratulations! You are the second couple to celebrate their wedding! The wedding will be held on February 28, 4:00 pm and will take place near WGB house; we reserved a nearby forest for you! Preparations can be decided by both husband and wife with the help of the other members of the household! Congratulations once again!

Once Chen finished reading, Minjung couldn’t help but slap the hand that has been covering until now. “How dare you...” She faced her ‘attacker’ only to see that it was her husband that already has a sweet smile on his face as he met the eyes of his wife. Minjung was taken aback especially with the cuteness overload of her husband and decided to just sigh it out as she smiled back.

“Wow.” Luhan was the one who broke the silence and made a goofy grin and pat Chen’s shoulder a couple of times. “You’re getting married.”

Loud chatter exploded then. Yoonji and Eun Jae hugged Soojin and congratulated her while the latter has just overcome her shock from the news.

Soojin said her thanks to the two girls and hugged them back.

“Wait!” Yuna exclaimed and was able to make the room slightly quiet besides the squeals of some of the girls. “A forest?”

“Ooooh, how exciting!” Eunmi exclaimed.

“As long as it won’t be too dark on the 28th, I’m fine.” Yunmi murmured, dreading what it would look like if they were in the middle of the forest as it gets dark.

Yoon Shik smiled. “It’ll be fine~!” She assured the girl. “We’ll just light the whole place up!”

Yunmi, grateful for Yoonshik’s optimism, nodded happily in agreement.

“Now, all we have to do is plan the wedding!” Minjung clapped her hands as she grinned, planning to take the lead for the event.

On the sidelines, most of the guys have discreetly escaped the scene to leave it to the girls to plan the whole thing.

“Do you have a theme planned out, Soojin?” Jangmi asked.

Soojin thought about it and would like to ask Chen about it but when she turned to where Chen was, he wasn’t there anymore. “Uhhh...”

“They left to celebrate their own way.” Suho explained, staying by his wife’s side while keeping an eye out for Min Hee as well.

“Come to think of it, Luhan, Lay, Chen, Kai, Sehun, Baekhyun and Tao aren’t here.” Kyungmi stated happily since her husband, Chanyeol was just playing with Chin Ho and Sooju at the corner.

“I can’t believe your husband left as well. This is his wedding.” Yuna muttered.

“He probably just got dragged with the rest of the members.” Soojin explained, smiling.

“Back to the topic at hand.” Minjung interjected. “Well? Do you have anything in mind or not?”

“Well, I always wanted a vintage kind of wedding... and I think it’d go perfectly with the forest setting.” Soojin gave a bashful smile as she gave out her opinion.

“That’s a wonderful idea!” Kyungmi exclaimed. “I am so excited already.”

Soojin looked at Sooyeon and the latter just nodded, with that Soojin beamed and said. “Okay! Let’s get started!”

Since it’s already the second wedding, EXO and their wives got swiftly into action. Kyung Mi, Yuna, and Minjung volunteered to go out and buy flowers.

“Mom. I wanna go with you.” Jaesun pouted, holding his mom, Yuna when she was about to leave with the other girls.

Yuna looked at Baekhyun who was goofing around with Chanyeol sighed. “Fine, but I need you to behave, okay?”

Jaesun grinned and nodded his head fervently.

At the flower shop,

“What flowers do you think we should get?” Kyung Mi jumped excitedly when she got out of the car and into the flower shop.

“Not sure.” Yuna shrugged. “Soojin didn’t really specify any flowers. But I guess she likes the ones that are bright.”

Minjung scrunched her nose in disgust. “Bright flowers will never go with a vintage kind of wedding.”

“How about Carnations?” Kyung Mi chimed, remembering her favorite flowers that she missed seeing.

“As long as they are light colored.” Minjung muttered.

Yuna’s attention was caught on the beautiful roses that they passed by. “Hey…” She murmured and walked her way to get the flower. “How about this one?” She held a white rose as she showed it to the girls.

“Perfect.” Minjung beamed. “I could have done better myself.”

Yuna rolled her eyes and Kyung Mi fled away. When Yuna felt a tug on her shirt, she looked down at her son whose eyes were wandering with pure amazement with what he is seeing.

“Do you like it?” Yuna asked, squatting down to her son’s level of sight.

Jaesun stared at the white flower in front of him and blushed. “It’s alright.” He murmured, not being able to look at his mom’s eyes.

He likes it~ Yuna chimed in her mind, seeing the cute expression that his child is making. She pat the flower on her son’s nose and she chuckled when he tried to avoid it. “Come on. Let’s get tons of these.”

“Chen.” Hwa Young called out.

“Hm?”

“I was planning to buy some scented candles since Soojin told it by passing earlier.” Hwa Young explained. “Do you have any idea what scents she’d like?”

“Of course.” Chen said confidently. “We ran out of it inside our room though…” His voice began to falter. “And I don’t exactly remember the name.” He grinned sheepishly.

Hwa Young giggled. “Well, I’m sure you recognize the scent. Maybe we can bring Chun Hei along too.”

Chen grinned at the idea. “Sure, I’ll go get her.” He passed by Kris and Tao with their babies, looking lost on what to do since their own wives have been busy with the preparations and shouted at them. “It’d be perfect if you can buy a Polaroid camera.”

At the candle shop,

“What scents does your mom like, Chun Hei?” Hwa Young asked as the girl mentioned held her hand, ignoring the waiting hand of her dad.

“Mom collects lots of scents. The latest one was lavender… I think.”

“Is that right?” Hwa Young peeked a glance at Chen who was completely pouting.

Hwa Young chuckled and released the hand of Chun Hua, patting her on the head as she slowly guided her to stand by Chen.

“What do you think, Hong Hui.” She asked her own baby who was cooing in her arms, trying to reach something that has caught his eye.

“This one?” Hwa Young reached for the candle that he meant and let his smell it. Once he did, his nose scrunched in disgust and didn’t want anything to do with the candle anymore.

Chen laughed. “I guess he hates scented candles now.”

Hwa Young giggled. “It is quite strong when you smell it.” She handed him the candle that Hong Hui smelled.

“Oh, right right.” Chen immediately agreed.

“A-appa.” Chun Hei called meekly.

Chen’s eyes widened and looked down at his daughter. He rarely hears his daughter call him that.

“Can I smell too?”

He hesitantly handed the candle to his daughter and stooped down to be able to see her better.

“Does it smell good?” He asked.

It took Chun Hei a couple of seconds to respond after she had smelt the candle. “I don’t think mom will be fond of this.”

Chen chuckled, proud of his mature daughter. “I think so too.” He agreed and stood up, patting her head.

For the next two days, the house looked like chaos once again with the things scattered everywhere. Gowns had been set up for the bride and the girls as well as suits for the men.

Decorations had been put into one single messy corner.

Yoonji was found trying to organize them as much as she could but for some reason, it just gets messier. Hwa Young pat Yoonji’s back. “Just leave it. Trust me, I tried.”

Yoonji sighed in defeat. “I just can’t believe how messy this place is. It’s like a jungle.”

 Hwa Young laughed.

“Yoonji~” Eum Mi called from the kitchen.

“Oh crap.” Yoonji ran her way to Eun Mi as fast as she could.

“Yunmi, please stop eating every food that you see.” Sooyeon scolded as she tried to stop Yunmi from getting any.

“One last and I promise I’ll stop.” Yunmi begged. “They’re just so delicious.”

Sooyeon got a strawberry instead and fed Yunmi with it. “Now you got that one last, shoo!”

September 28

“Oh God.” Soojin’s eyes widened at the realization that today was her wedding day. Thankfully, Chen and Chun Hei were still sleeping for an afternoon nap that she didn’t have to worry about leaving the room.

She got out as fast as she could and tried to calm her erratic heartbeat.

“Are you okay?” Someone asked, concern was evident in his voice.

When Soojin turned to look, it was Baekhyun approaching her. She smiled and nodded. “Yeah, I’m fine.”

Baekhyun raised his brow. “No one gets out that fast and says that they’re fine.”

Soojin looked at Baekhyun and sighed. “Yeah, but I’ll be. I’m just having mixed feelings for today.”

Baekhyun smirked. “Tell me about it. Yunie have been denying wearing the dress all day.” He pointed at their room to indicate that’s it is still going on.

Soojin walked her way worriedly to Yuna and Baekhyun’s room as she knocked on the door and opened it without waiting for the response. “Are you okay?” She asked Yuna who was standing in front of her dress that she should wear for the day. Soojin stood beside Yuna and glanced over the dress. As expected of WGB staff, they give the best. Soojin thought since the dress was very perfect and elegant.

“No…” Yuna shook her head. “I mean yes… in a way…I’m fine” She muttered, not wanting to burden Soojin.

“She doesn’t want to wear the dress.” Baekhyun explained for Yuna.

“What?” Soojin was surprised to hear this and couldn’t control her her voice. When the two shushed her because there was a sleeping boy on their bed, Soojin whispered. “How come? The dress is perfect.”

“I don’t… wear dresses.” Yuna answered regretfully.

“Oh…” Soojin nodded, but her face is definitely showing that she is still processing this. “Do you have anything you want to wear instead?”

“Well I was thinking…”

“What’s going on?” A demanding voice entered the room.

“Minjung.” Yuna couldn’t help but hiss lowly. “What are you doing here?”

“I was just passing by, and that’s rude of you.” She scowled.

“Who’s…”

“Girls, I don’t think it is advisable to argue here. Jaesun is still sleeping.” Baekhyu interjected.

“Oh…” Minjung blinked her eyes. “Why didn’t you say so in the first place?”

Yuna rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. While Baekhyun backed off and walked away from the room, leaving the girls behind to fix whatever needs fixing.

“What’s going on here anyway?” Minjung asked again, this time, facing Soojin.

“Well, Yuna was thinking of an alternative outfit for later.”

Minjung frowned at Yuna. “No.” She said simply but with force. “You were able to get away and wear pants on my wedding since I didn’t care who was wearing what. But you have to wear this dress today whether you like it or not. Not under my watch.” She then walked away like her words were final and should be followed.

Yuna was surprised with how Minjung acted and shook her head in disbelief.

Soojin put a hand on Yuna’s shoulder as a way of comfort. “Well, how about… think of it like a practice for your own wedding day.” She suggested.

Yuna sighed. Soojin has a point. On her own wedding, she would most likely be wearing a dress anyway… not that she can help it. “Fine…” She conceded. “But I’m not doing this for her.” She pointed at the empty doorway. “I’m doing this for you.”

Soojin smiled. “Thanks.”

4:00 pm, February 28

The forest that was once looked scary to go through now looked like a majestic place. A beautiful marriage is about to take place and the groom is already waiting at the altar for his wife.

Chen continues to fidget nervously as he still hadn’t seen his wife until now. Ever since he woke up from the afternoon earlier, people weren’t letting him see his wife because of a certain tradition.

“Be a man, Chen!” Kai cheered the exact same words that Chen used when it was his wedding. “You can do it!”

The men of the household have been waiting near Chen to ‘comfort’ him as the groomsmen. It was getting rowdy but everybody grew silent when the music started and 11 bridesmaids walked down the aisle with their kids.

“Wow.” Tao couldn’t help but whisper as he eyed his wife. In fact, everybody but Chen was flustered in many ways to see their wives in such an elegant white dress.

“She’s here.” Chen stiffened his posture as he saw his wife from afar. “Oh my god…” He gasped when she started walking on the red carpet. With her is their daughter, Chun Hei who was wearing a gown as well.

“Smile. Jongdae.” Luhan reminded Chen when he noticed he was gawking at his wife.

Jongdae immediately smiled and when Soojin and Chun Hei were close, he unconsciously met with them.

“Appa!” Chun Hei called, smiling.

Chen was definitely grinning now. He looked down at their child and the latter offered the hands of her mom. “Thank you!” Chen cooed. Chun Hei grinned and signaled him for a kiss on the cheek.

The crowd burst into laughter and utmost enjoyment since Chun Hei finally accepted Chen as her father. Chen gladly obliged and kissed Chun Hei on the cheek. “Thank you.” He said again but this time in a whisper.

Once Chun Hei sat on her seat, Chen guided Soojin to the altar. “Hello, beautiful.”

“Hi, handsome.” Soojin countered.

“Ladies and gentlemen.” The ‘priest’ started. “We are gathered here today to celebrate the union of Kim Jongdae and Hwang Soojin.” He glanced over the crowd as he looked at each of their happy faces. “May I call for the ring bearer to hand over the rings.”

Jaesun walked cautiously, careful not to lose the rings placed on the pillow he’s holding with both hands.

Once Jaesun reached the ‘priest’, the latter took the rings and Jaesun loosened his posture, relieved that he did a good job.

The ‘priest’ gave the rings to the couple as they exchanged vows and exchanged rings. “Now I announce you, husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.” The ‘priest’ announced.

Once again, the crowd began to chant as they cheered for Chen and Soojin to kiss.

Chen gulped nervously; his hands trembled a little but were able to gain control when he started to pull the veil over her head. Soojin blushed as Chen stepped closer, holding her by the shoulders, she couldn’t help but get nervous on what would happen. She closed her eyes shut, not being able to take how Chen was getting closer and closer. Until Chen kissed Soojin on the corner of her lips and was hugged by him.

“Omo!” Some of the crowd exclaimed.

“Did they kiss?!” Minjung asked.

Chen released her from the hug as they faced their audience. Chen had a big smile on his face, laughing and Soojin still a bit flustered on what had happened.

Everyone ended up clapping for the married couple; some still flustered but all in all, a successful wedding.

Congratulations Chen and Soojin!!!
