Episode 07

❝ We Got Babies! ❞

January 1

“Happy new year!” A loud, cheery voice rang across the halls from one side of the house to the living room, stomping away while carrying his sleepy baby in his arms. Chanyeol slid across the floors, grinning from ear to ear. “Happy new year! Happy new year! Happy—“

Suddenly a hand came up to shut his mouth and a very displeased short man was glaring at Chanyeol from the side.

“Mmmpphh!!” Chanyeol whined.

“You’re too noisy; you’ll wake the younger kids!” D.O. barked back, removing his hand from the taller male’s mouth.

“But it’s new year!” The lanky father stomped a foot on the ground, earning another glare from another “parent”.

“Yes, it’s new year but it’ll be really awful if the children all wake up crying because of the noise.” Minjung commented, walking towards the trio. She looked over to Chin Ho in Chanyeol’s arms, “Well, maybe except your kid.”

“That’s because—“

“There’s a letter!” Kyungmi chirped. “There’s a letter! There’s a letter! There’s a letter!”

“There’s a letter?!” Chanyeol swirled around, ignoring Minjung’s and D.O.’s scolding.

“Honestly, you two are too alike!” Minjung huffed. “And what is with that letter?”

“It says, Happy new year—“ Kyungmi froze, ogling at the names written on the card. “Kai and Minjung?”

“What?” Minjung gasped, taking hold of the letter before Kyungmi could read the rest, mildly glaring at her while giving her a silent warning not to read other people’s stuff. She opened the note and read:

Happy new year Kai and Minjung!

We, the We Got Babies staff, would like to congratulate you for being the first couple out of the twelve to celebrate their wedding!

“OMO!” Chanyeol gasped from behind Minjung, reading the note over her head.

“What? What?” D.O. blinked, “What did it say?”

“Hush it!” Minjung bit back before resuming the note.

As the first newlyweds-to-be, it is of great importance that we inform you that your wedding will be on January 5 at TSM beach, 5:30 am.

“Why so early?!” Kyungmi complained, reading from the side. Minjung quickly hid the note from her eyes before continuing once more.

Preparations can be decided either between you and your husband or with the help of the other members of the household. Once again, congratulations!

Minjung quickly put the note back in the envelope and without bothering with the others around her, turned around away from the inquiring eyes to confidently stride over to her “husband”, who was busy trying to get Yaozu to wake up so they could pull a prank on one of the other kids together. After all, it’s new year.

“Kai-oppa,”

“I didn’t do it!” Kai turned around before he patted on Yaozu’s head. A golden envelope was flashed before his eyes, “What’s this?”

“It’s important.” Minjung demanded full attention with the tone of her voice, “Read it carefully.”

Kai pretended not to gulp, but he did. He took the envelope, got the note out and read it – line by line. Then, his eyes gradually widened. “WEDDING?!

Yaozu flinched, opening his eyes and as he turned his head, mumbled, “Appa?”

Minjung noticed her son waking up and gave a silent scolding in the form of a glare to her “husband”. She quickly turned her attention from the paling EXO member to her son, “You can go back to sleep, Yaozu. It’s nothing.”

“Okay,” Yaozu gave a short yawn before snuggling up in his blankets. Minjung smiled peacefully at the sight. Kai was beyond control though.

“Wait a minute! What’s this about a wedding? A-And we have to plan it ourselves? We have to plan a wedding?!” Kai flapped the note around, trying to get his “wife’s” attention.

“Why are you planning a wedding?” Chen slipped in the room, overhearing the conversation from the hallway. “Who’s getting married?”

Us!” Kai replied in utter disbelief.

“Yah! Hold on a minute! Why are you getting married first when I’m older than you?!” Chen pouted.

“That’s not the point!” Kai spat back but realized that another EXO member was coming into view. “Xiumin-hyung!”

“What’s going on?” Xiumin walked into the room. “Kai, your noise is going to wake Hway Dyok up. It was hard getting her to sleep last night without her begging for another bowl of noodles.”

“Kai is getting married.” Chen answered for the youngest in the room.

“Oh?” Xiumin blinked, “But I thought you’re already married? Aren’t we all married anyway?”

“But—“  Kai was about to in when Yaozu stirred in his sleep again.

Minjung turned around, gave a glare at the trio before adding, “Oppas, can you leave or else you’ll wake up Yaozu?”

The three men gave their lopsided grins before scooting away silently to discuss this letter about a wedding in the hallway, where other members of the household began to leave their rooms as well, due to the rising commotion Kai was creating.

“Since when did you start planning weddings?” Luhan gave a sly comment to the younger male, taking the note from his hands. “And it’s in a beach too!”

“A beach?!” Tao grinned, his eyes sparkling. “I wonder if my wedding’ll be held in a beach too.”

“Hang on a second, are you saying we’re each going to have to plan our own wedding?” Luhan turned around to face Tao, hearing his comment. “Now that you’ve mentioned it, we didn’t really have some sort of ceremony, right?”

“So is that why we’re having one now?” Xiumin blinked, disbelievingly.

“Well, better late than never, right?” Chen laughed.

“Kai!” Chanyeol, still carrying Chin Ho’s sleepy form came zooming down the hallway. “So are you and Minjung-ah getting married for real now?!”

“Shut up, hyung!” Kai blushed, taking the note from Luhan’s hands. “In any case, I don’t like this whole planning thing! You guys know I’m not good at this sort of thing!”

“Don’t worry, you have Minjung around too.” Chen patted him on the shoulder. “Now, let’s go and announce it to the rest of the household!”

“D-Do we have to?!” Kai freaked out, turning back to the room to get his “wife” to come out as well. This is definitely way too much for him to handle right now.

“It’s a wedding. We have to let everyone know.” Luhan grinned, “How lucky of our Kai to tie the knot first~”

“Shut up!” Kai flushed beet red.

Once everyone in the house knew of the mysterious golden note and the fact that Minjung and Kai will be holding their wedding, the house was in total chaos. First of all, they only had a few days to plan and sort everything out – wedding dress, flowers, food, everything!

“What are we going to do?!” Jangmi was walking around, frantic. “This is insane! Planning a wedding in, like, 3 days!”

“Aish,” Suho sighed, stress building up in his system. “Look, everyone, let’s just calm down and settle things—“

“Does this mean our shows and gigs have to be postponed too?” Lay asked from the side of the room, carrying his baby Ryuu in his arms. “Wouldn’t that, er, disappoint a lot of our fans?”

“I’m—“ Suho looked around, a little nervous and anxious, “I’m sure the staff has something planned.”

“I hope they do,” Sehun sighed, leaning back on the sofa with his “wife”, Yunmi, beside him carrying their baby Sooju in her arms. “It’d be bad if things get out of hand. It could ruin the wedding...”

“I don’t really want to think about that.” Kai sighed, shaking his head.

“Can I just pass this whole thing?” Yuna gave a little nervous laugh, “I-I’m not too good at these things, you know?”

“Oh?” Baekhyun turned around with a little curious glint in his eyes, his son’s eyes glimmered as well. It seemed that Jae Sun’s interest had been sparked as well, quite rare. “You’re not too good with planning events? That’s something new.”

“I don’t know if that’s something you’d like to take note of, actually.” Yuna gave a look at her “husband”. “Why? Are you?”

“Mhm,” Baekhyun shrugged, “I guess you could say that.”

Yuna raised an interested eyebrow, “Then I guess I can leave the planning of our wedding to you then.”

“Wait, what—“

“Hey!” Minjung chimed in the room, arms crossed and looking completely impatient. “Since it’ll be our wedding this coming 5th of January, I’d appreciate it if the lot of you could keep your heads off the clouds and on the ground.”

“Well, at least we have a capable sounding leader.” Kris pointed out, carrying Emi in his arms, who was (as always) looking very indifferent about the whole thing. “So, why don’t you calm down, Jangmi-ah? It’s not good to stress—“

“I’m not stressed!” Jangmi gasped, looking away. “I’m not!”

“I’m not too!” Kyungmi raised her hand, completely out of context and knocking everyone out of the flow of the conversation. Chanyeol laughed beside his “wife”, still carrying Chin Ho, who was now awake and nibbling on one sliced apple. “Oh! I was wondering if I could make a suggestion?”

“And what would that be?” Minjung raised an eyebrow.

“I was wondering; since there’s so many of us, let’s divide ourselves into teams in charge of something for the wedding.” Kyungmi grinned.

“...” Hwayoung ogled at her from the other couch, “Wow, Kyungmi, that was actually a pretty good suggestion.”

“Ehe~” Kyungmi laughed sheepishly before blinking in realization, “Wha—Hey! I make pretty good suggestions!”

“Oh, I don’t know about that~” Hwayoung teased, chuckling a little as her baby Hong Hui tugged at her shirt. “Hm? What is it?”

Hong Hui motioned for something with his lips. Hwayoung blinked before turning to her “husband”, “Um, oppa—“

“His binky, right?” Luhan stood up, “I’ll get it.”

“...” Minjung blinked at the random scene unfolding in front of her, but her mind was elsewhere. Thinking back to Kyungmi’s suggestion, she tapped lightly at her bottom lip. That’s actually not a pretty bad idea; it could definitely save us the trouble and the time. “Yeah, we could do that.”

“All right! So let’s split everyone up!” Jangmi piped up without a second thought.

With that, everyone busied themselves for the wedding that would take part in 3 days.

January 5 (3:00 am)

Eunmi walked leisurely along the beach, trying to take a breather out of everything. Each of the members and their wives were busy with Minjung and Kai’s wedding that will take part in only a few hours from now and Eunmi couldn’t help but get stressed over Minjung’s bossy attitude. Almost no one got any sleep out of this event and she kept on insisting that there was something wrong with her wedding dress.

Eunmi gave a silent sigh and muttered. “I guess she wants more beads...” She walked over to where the event will be held, an almost azure blue sky reflected above her as the sound of the waves rolling towards the shore began to calm her down.

“There you are,” Lay’s voice came up from behind her, “What are you doing out here all by yourself?”

“Nothing,” Eunmi replied, “Anywhere’s fine... anywhere without Minjung around.”

Lay gave a little chuckle before slipping one of his sweaters on Eunmi’s shoulders. “You can borrow this, it’s cold after all.”

Eunmi looked back at him with wide eyes, “Oh, you remembered?”

“Remembered what?” Lay tilted his head, a little confused.

Eunmi sighed, shaking her head, “No, nothing.” What was I expecting? It’s Lay we’re talking about... he often forgets the little things. She thought with a playful smile on her face.

“Looks like we still have a lot of work to do, huh?”

“Looks like it.” Eunmi stared at the blank sky before them. It wouldn’t be so much work if only Minjung would stop fussing over her dress!

“Want some coffee? It’ll help you stay up?” Lay offered, smiling but the offer was returned with a slightly disappointed look. “What?”

“Ah~ you really forgot.” Eunmi shook her head, though, she was already expecting something like that from her “husband”. It seemed that Lay had forgotten her dislike for coffee. “Ah, well.”

“What? What?” Lay blinked. “Er... do you not like coffee?”

“Never mind,” She turned, giving him a small smile. “So? What was that about coffee?”

“Ah—“

“THERE YOU ARE!!!” Yuna barked from the distance, completely ridding the atmosphere between Eunmi and Lay. “What are you doing out here?!”

“Taking a break.” Eunmi replied before Yuna asked any other questions. “What happened this time?”

“Minjung.” Yuna made a face. “I... I don’t know what it was that she wanted. Something about laces? Or... was it laces?”

“Forget it; don’t bother, Yuna.” Eunmi waved a hand and made her way back to the villa where the girls were staying, “I’ll handle it.”

“Oh, thank you.” Yuna sighed in relief. “I didn’t want to hear another word on laces ever again.”

“So, should I still make you that coffee?” Lay asked, calling out to his “wife” before she was completely out of earshot.

Eunmi turned around with a blank face for a couple of seconds before laughing, “Yeah, sure. Coffee’s fine.”

January 5 (5:00 am)

The sun was slowly rising, giving the signal for the wedding to start. The rest of the members of the household were all gathered by the shore where their decorative arch and aisle was laid out. Kai was dressed up in his best suit and was waiting for his wife at the end of the aisle, looking incredibly nervous.

“Be a man, Kai!” Chen teased, whistling at the sidelines.

“Our Kai is all grown up~” Baekhyun pretended to wipe an imaginary tear from the corner of his eyes. As he laughed with the rest of the EXO guys, there was a little jab to his right side. Looking towards that direction, Yuna was giving a light glare at her “husband”. “It was just a joke. Just a joke.”

“...” Sooyeon looked around the beach, towards the villa. “Minjung isn’t out yet.”

With that comment, several of the other girls began to turn their heads to the direction of their villa. After all, it was almost 5:30 and the bride was a no-show.

“Maybe she’s having doubts? Cold feet?” Soojin gave a very sly comment at the side, earning a little glance from her “husband”, Chen. He grinned at her joke which made her blush a little.

“W-What?” Yoon Shik blinked, standing up from her seat. “That’s not good. Should I go and check on her?”

“No need.” Sooyeon replied, tugging at Yoon Shik’s hand. “Look.” She had lifted a finger to point towards the other end of the aisle. With that sight, Yoon Shik sighed in relief and relaxed in place. The rest of the audience began to stand up from their seats to welcome the bride.

Minjung, dressed in white carrying a bouquet of Hydrangeas of different shades of purple and blue, walked elegantly with Yunmi and Eunmi holding the train. Kai discreetly took a step back, feeling the nerves suddenly shoot up. This was much worse than having their very first concert!

“Psst!” Sehun hissed at the sidelines, “Get a hold of yourself!”

Kai gulped but stood his ground. His eyes once more returned to focus at Minjung slowly approaching the other end of the aisle. She looks beautiful – stunningly beautiful. He thought, unable to keep his eyes off of her. As she approached him, his cheeks slowly felt warm and the rest of the guys noticed quickly, trying to control their smiles.

Chanyeol was one of the few to find it very difficult to behave, bouncing up and down in his place with a very, very wide grin on his face. Suho had to grab a hold of his arm to bring him back to reality.

Once Minjung was now beside her groom, with her train perfectly placed by Yunmi and Eunmi around her, Kai turned to face her, completely awestruck at the beauty in front of him, so awestruck that he had almost missed the brief whisper from his “wife”.

You look great, oppa.” She said with a faint blush on her cheeks.

Kai gaped at her, completely speechless before shaking his head and clearing his throat, “Y-You... You look beautiful.”

Minjung’s eyes sparkled a little as she smiled, closing her eyes as something warm took over her. She wasn’t about to admit it, but she was feeling very happy at the moment. It was almost dream-like.

The “priest” in-between them coughed and cleared his throat, smiling. “May we begin?”

“Ah... y-yes.” Kai lowered his head, feeling embarrassed.

“Now then...” the “priest” opened his book and looked at Kai, then at Minjung, and then the crowd. “We are gathered here today to celebrate the union of Kim Jongin and Kwon Minjung... Is there anyone who would like to object to this wedding?”

“...” Minjung discreetly turned her head to the audience, glaring at them—leaving no one unnoticed.

Guests suddenly straightened their backs and shook their heads in response. That silent look was enough to knock them off of their senses and they all knew that they shouldn’t mess around when Minjung gave them that look.

The “priest” looked amused at the petrified audience before continuing – “May I call on the ring-bearer to hand over the rings.”

Yaozu, holding a small pillow with the rings on top of it slowly stood up from his seat and walked to the “priest”. He looked great in his tiny suit that Minjung couldn’t suppress a smile.

The “priest” then took the rings and handed them to the couple. The two then exchanged rings and said their vows to which the “priest” said, “You may now kiss the bride.”

Kai swiftly turned his head to the “priest”, eyes wide with shock. “Now?!” he couldn’t control the panic in his voice.

The audience as well had mixed emotions about the announcement. Chen in particular couldn’t help but whistle teasingly for the couple. Gradually, as if that was a signal of sorts, the crowd began to grow chaotic and noise began to come from the excited and anxious audience.

Minjung shot a glaring look at Chen but was distracted with the chaos surfacing from the audience shouting for them to kiss.

Kai, getting more pressured by the turn of events, hesitantly pulled the veil over gently, but was once more awestruck by the beauty of Minjung even up close. Holding her gently on her shoulders, he pressed his lips firmly, not really doing what to do with them.

Minjung, knowing that she could not control the audience, decided to ignore them and focus on the most important moment of the day. She looked at Kai, highly expectant of what he will do.

Upon seeing their state, the audience hushed.

Kai began to slowly approach Minjung, still unsure of what to do. As he got closer, Minjung closed her eyes and the audience gasped at what will happen. It was like some scene in a movie, with the waves gently rolling to the shore, a gentle breeze blowing at Minjung’s dress and rising son completing the backdrop, shining onto the “married” couple’s moment like a spotlight. Everyone held their breaths in anticipation when—

Kai briefly kissed Minjung’s cheek and moved away laughing sheepishly as he turned to the audience.

Minjung slowly opened her eyes, surprised as to what Kai did not do. The audience, being surprised themselves by how swiftly Kai did the kiss, had no words to say as well. It was almost like someone had clicked mute on the whole scene. The entire beach was so quiet, minus a few sounds from the environment around them.

Chanyeol was the first one to react, clapping his hands and howling to cheer for the ‘now-married’ couple, followed by everyone else. As strange and weird the wedding turned out to be, it was, overall, a successful first wedding.

Congratulations, Kai and Minjung!

Hi everyone! Thank you all for waiting and we hope you like this chapter. It's a lot shorter and definitely different than the previous. That's because we've decided to change how we were going to do things from before. We apologize if not everyone got enough limelight, rest assured, everyone will have a chance in the succeeding chapters. Also, excuse us for time-skipping. We thought it would be... better that way XD /bricked

Also! This doesn't continue directly from the previous chapter, just for everyone's information.

Anyway. The author doesn't want to leave an author's note so I'm doing the talking hahaha

Most of the chapter was written by me, with Yen adding some scenes here and there. We hope you like the new style and flow~ it'll be a lot easier for us to write like this, actually, so... /cries
