The long awaited meeting

It was fated to be...

Welcome readers, to chapter 4 ^^

Hehe~

Quite alot happens in this chapter :D

And I made up for last chapter; this chapter's alot longer ;D

Anyway, I shall let you read. =D

Enjoy~

The pilot spoke in English, and a flight attendant followed on with a translation in Korean.

“Hello all, this is your pilot speaking. This airplane is going to be landing soon. Please go back to your seats, put your seatbelts on and wait for the touchdown. Thank you.”

Eun Mi sat back, took off her headphones, and popped a piece of watermelon flavoured gum into . She hated when the plane was landing, it made her ears go all funny. Chewing audibly, Eun Mi gained a few odd looks from nearby passengers. She smiled in return, and everyone went back to minding their own businesses.

“This is your pilot speaking again. We have landed. Please make your way down the aisle. Our flight attendants will show you the nearest exit. I hope you have enjoyed flying with US Airlines. Stay safe!”

Again, a flight attendant translated for non-English speaking passengers.

Eun Mi took off her seatbelt and stood up, stretching her arms and legs. She walked to the overhead compartment, opened it, and took her carry-on bag. After waiting for other passengers to pass, she walked briskly through the plane’s exit. Her mother would be waiting for her.

Just as she had done previously, she went through immigration check, before collecting her luggage. Holding the handle of her suitcase loosely, she hurried towards the crowd of expectant people. She stopped, and looked around, hoping to catch sight of her mother. She didn’t need to look hard; her mother was standing right in front of her. Both of them broke into an immense smile, once they saw each other.

Eun Mi spoke in Korean, her home language.

“Mum!” said Eun Mi, hugging her mum. “Are you doing well?”

“Of course! Why wouldn’t I be doing well?” asked her mother, taking Eun Mi’s suitcase. “Let’s go.”

They walked to her mum’s car - a white 4WD. Eun Mi loaded her suitcase into the boot, and the two were on their way. Since Eun Mi hadn’t seen her mother for a while, they had quite alot to talk about. The fact that she was close with her mother made the ambiance even better.

“How are your studies going, Eun Mi?” asked her mother, while driving. “Is Yale going well for you?”

“Yes mum. I’m actually not doing too badly at Yale. The courses are difficult, but I’m still achieving at least 90%. My professor is very experienced, so I’m lucky to have him as my teacher.” said Eun Mi.

“That’s good.” said Eun Mi’s mum. She was very proud of her daughter, infact, she was proud of both her children. She predicted that they would both be extremely successful with their lives, as they had always strived to achieve highly in everything.

The conversation lasted for a long time, and only ended when they had arrived at an underground garage.

“We’re here!” said Eun Mi’s mum. “Dad will be at home, but he’ll have to go after dinner. He’s very busy at the moment.”

Eun Mi’s parents lived in an apartment in Seoul. Eun Mi rolled her suitcase into the elevator, while her mother pressed the button. Eun Mi’s parents lived on the 8th floor. The ride up only took a short time, and the elevator made a ding before opening the doors. They stepped out, and walked until they reached door number 12.  They took off their shoes and left them beside the door. Eun Mi’s mum pulled out a key, put it into the keyhole and turned it. The lock clicked, and she turned the doorknob, to reveal a large modern apartment.  A grand piano sat on the side of the large living room.

“Nice place, mum. It looks very modern.” exclaimed Eun Mi, as she pulled her suitcase into the house.

“Thank you, Eun Mi.” laughed her mother. “It was rather expensive.”

Eun Mi knew that her parents had no issue with the money; lawyers made a lot of money.

Eun Mi looked around.

“Your room is down the corridor, first one to the left.” said her mother. “I’ll make you some food. You must be very hungry! And tired too.” she added.

“Thanks mum.” said Eun Mi gratefully, and started to pull her suitcase.

“By the way, your dad’s in his study. It’s straight down the corridor. Remember to pop in after you’ve unpacked.” said Eun Mi’s mother over her shoulder, as she was opening the fridge.

She followed her mother’s directions, and sure enough, there was a bed spread with freshly washed sheets. She quickly unpacked, making sure that she had brought everything that she needed.

Toothbrush, towel, hair brush, iPod, laptop, contact lenses, clothes, shoes, money...hang on. Where’s my toothbrush?

Eun Mi frantically dug through her empty suitcase. She took her bag that was lying on the ground, and searched through it intently.

Ah shoot. I forgot my toothbrush. Aish. Why am I so forgetful?

“Hey mum? Do you have any spare toothbrushes? I forgot to bring mine.” shouted Eun Mi, walking out to the kitchen.

“Sorry, sweetie. I don’t have any spares. You’ll have to go to the grocery shop to buy some.” apologised Eun Mi’s mother.

“Don’t worry. I have to buy some shampoo as well.” said Eun Mi. “Would you like anything?”

“No it’s ok. Hurry, when you get back we can sit down and eat.” said her mother. “Ask your dad, maybe he needs something from the shops.”

“Appa!” shouted Eun Mi while walking down the corridor to reach his study. She knocked on the door, before entering.

“Would you like anything from the grocery shop?” she asked. Her dad was in front of his desktop computer, typing up what looked like an important document. He swivelled his seat around.

“Eun Mi!” cried her father. “Welcome back! How are you?” He stood up from his seat and gave his daughter a hug.

Eun Mi smiled.

“Appa! I missed you. Are you busy?” asked Eun Mi. “I’m going very well.” added Eun Mi.

“Yes, I’m very busy these days.” answered her father. “And no thank you, I do not need anything from the store.”

“Sorry to disturb you, appa.” Eun Mi apologised profusely.

“Don’t worry. I’ll always have time for my daughter.” said her father, who went back to his work.

Always have time? Not when Eun Kyung and I were little...

Eun Mi quietly closed the door, and walked slowly back to the kitchen, where her mother was cooking.

“I’m going to go now.” said Eun Mi.

Her mother looked up from her cooking.

“Oh. I need to give you some money. Wait a second.” said her mother, wiping her hands on her apron, and grabbing her wallet on the kitchen counter. She pulled out two ₩10000 notes, and handed them to Eun Mi.

“That should be enough.” she said, before going back to her cooking.

“Kamsahamnida, omma.” thanked Eun Mi. She shoved the notes into her back jeans pocket where her iPod was, and started to head out the door, before she realised she had no idea where the grocery shop was.

“Omma, where is the shop? asked Eun Mi.

“Oh. Once you exit out of this building, turn left and walk straight. There should be a line of shops.” explained her mother, while cracking an egg.

“Kamsahamnida! I shall be on my way now.” said Eun Mi, and walked out of the door once more.

She put on her shoes, and made her way to the entrance of the building. From there, she turned left just as her mother had instructed her to do so. After walking for a little while, she found a line of shops. All the shop signs were written in Korean, but luckily, her mother had sent her to Korean school when she was a little girl. When she was young, she would complain that it was a waste of time, but now, she understood why her parents sent her there, and was extremely thankful.

Eun Mi happily entered a shop with a display which read ‘Grocery store’.  She ended up buying more than what she planned - a toothbrush, a bottle of shampoo and conditioner, a large packet of Shin Ramyun and a few packets of various snacks foods.  She paid the cashier, slipped the change into her pocket and took her purchases.

She decided that since she was already there, she would explore the other shops. The grocery shop was in between a gaming store and a fashion boutique.

Hm...let’s try the gaming shop. There might be a newer version of WoW...

Eun Mi was a nerd. She admitted that. She loved to play video games; just not as much as she loved music. She never was the girly type. When she was in high school, her friends were all into make-up, boyfriends and pretty dresses, but she was never into that sort of stuff.

Eun Mi walked towards the gaming shop, where the shop windows were clad with multiple posters that were advertising various video games.  One poster advertised the arrival of Starcraft II. The shop was packed, but Eun Mi decided to look inside anyway.

She walked into the store where all the customers seemed to be clutching new copies of Starcraft II. She took a copy of the catalogue so she could flip through the pages, to see if there was anything that caught her eye.  As she was reading the catalogue, she slowly walked out the store, trying hard not to bump into anyone.

Eun Mi kept her head down, flipping her way through the catalogue. Suddenly, she collided into someone. She looked up, ready to apologise. It was a tall man, wearing a white surgical mask made out of fabric, and dark sunglasses. He was also holding a newly purchased copy of Starcraft II.

He’s wearing...erm, interesting things. I swear I’ve seen him before...the face looks so familiar.

“Sorry.” said Eun Mi. She apologised several times, before the man lifted his hand up to notify her to stop. He didn’t say a word.

“Watch your step.” was all the man said before walking around Eun Mi.

Eun Mi instantly disliked the man. His arrogance was irritating. And, what the heck was he wearing?

Pffft, if someone says sorry to you, you have to at least say “don’t worry about it”. What an arrogant guy...Has absolutely no manners. I can bet that that guy has no girlfriend; nor will he ever have one.

Eun Mi walked home as fast as she could. She was not exactly happy. Arrogant impolite guys were exactly what she hated. She believed that no one should be treated like crap.

Oh well...just ignore it Eun Mi. Don’t worry about it.

She took her iPod from her pocket, turned it on and pushed her earphones into her ears before pressing ‘shuffle songs’.

Hmm..don’t feel like Owl City today. Ahaha, Super Junior-M. I’m glad you’re here to cheer me up. Blue Tomorrow is so peaceful sounding. Perfect for my current mood...

Eun Mi had learnt Mandarin in high school so she was able to enjoy the full meaning of the song. Eun Mi smiled at the album cover displayed on her iPod. She took a double-take.

No...that’s impossible. Why does looking at Kyuhyun remind me of that strange man I met before? Impossible. He can’t be Kyuhyun. An idol like him would never be in public. That would be careless and idiotic. Fangirls would be literally him. Like seriously.

She had memorised all of the member’s names, and could match them up with their faces. It took a while, but it was worth it. Eun Mi arrived at the door of her home. She quickly forgot about the day’s happenings, and knocked on the door. Her mother opened the door immediately.

“Eun Mi! Why are you home so late? Are you ok?” asked her mother, worried.

“Don’t worry, omma. I’m fine. I just went to look around at the other shops.” assured Eun Mi.

Her mother ushered her in, and sat her down at the table, where her father already was eating. Eun Mi’s mother went into the kitchen, and came back with a bowl of rice. On the table were many bowls of banchan. She urged her daughter to eat, saying that she must be very hungry.

Her family ate early, well, earlier than when she was used to eating. She normally ate dinner at 7:00PM. It was 6:00PM right now.

Oh well, I’m hungry.

As Eun Mi ate with her parents, they talked about her studies, her future, and how she was going.

“I’m proud of you, Eun Mi.” said her father truthfully.

“Kamsahamnida, appa.” thanked Eun Mi.

“Yes yes, our daughter makes us very proud.” said Eun Mi’s mother, happy.

After dinner, Eun Mi continuously asked her mother if she could wash the dishes to be helpful, but her mother reassured her that she could do it herself with no problems. Eun Mi tentatively agreed, since she was tired.

“I’m going to go shower now.” said Eun Mi. She decided that hot water would be the best remedy for her tiredness.

“Ok!” replied both her parents.

She went into her room, took her pyjamas, her newly bought toothbrush, towel and shampoo and conditioner. She walked slowly to the bathroom, and hung her towel and pyjamas over the rails. Eun Mi placed her bottles of shampoo and conditioner on the floor of the shower, and her toothbrush on the vanity. She stepped into the shower after taking off her clothes, and the water, making it extra hot, but not so hot that it scalded her skin.

Eun Mi felt much better after the shower; she felt relaxed and refreshed. As she brushed her teeth, she gazed into the mirror. Maybe she wasn’t that ugly. Maybe she was pretty. Maybe someone would consider her to be beautiful. And maybe, just maybe, he would love her just as much as she loved him.

Eun Mi exited the bathroom, and walked to the living room. Her dad had changed into a black business suit, and was about to leave, while her mother was watching TV.

“Your father has to leave for work. He’ll sleep at the office tonight.” said Eun Mi’s mother.

“Work hard, appa. Goodnight!” said Eun Mi, hugging her father goodbye.

“Bye bye Eun Mi.” said her father, putting on his polished leather shoes. “Goodnight yeobo.”

“Remember to get some rest. Sleep is important!” said Eun Mi’s mother.

“I know I know. I’ll be going now. Ahnyoung.” said her father, and headed out the door.

Eun Mi’s mother sighed.

“Your father works so hard, even now.” said her mother. “Come, let’s watch some TV together. I borrowed a few DVDs.”

Eun Mi plonked herself into the soft squishy white leather couch. Her mother showed her a few DVDs and asked her which one she would like to watch.

“Boys before Flowers, You’re Beautiful or Coffee Prince?” asked her mother.

Eun Mi thought hard. She loved Korean dramas.

Which one to choose?

“Kgotboda Namja.” said Eun Mi, after a hard decision.

“Ok.” said her mother, and slid the DVD into the DVD player.

They started from episode 1, where they were introduced to the main characters - Geum Jan Di, Goo Joon Pyo, Yoon Ji Ho, So Yi Jung and Song Boo Bin. Goo Joon Pyo’s arrogant personality reminded her of the guy that she met earlier.

Ha. Both of them are such jerks. Aish. Why am I thinking even about him? Poor Jan Di, I hope that she ends up with Ji Hoo. Ahh. Ji Hoo’s so damn hot...and such a gentleman too.

Eun Mi and her mother watched two episodes before Eun Mi decided she would go to bed. It was 10:30PM, and she was getting tired.

“Goodnight omma.” said Eun Mi, yawning.

“Goodnight Eun Mi.” said her mother. “Sleep well.”

“You too.”

Eun Mi rose from her seat, and walked to her room. She took off her slippers, opened the bed covers, and slid into the blankets. She closed her eyes. Many thoughts raced through her mind.

Aish. Am I still thinking about that ignorant bastard that I met before? Pfft. He’s not even worth thinking about. Not until he finds his manners, at least.

Eun Mi finally fell asleep, lost in the warmness of her bed.

That night, she had a dream.
