14 - Confussion

Mine

Jieun looked around. After a night where she could hardly sleep, all she could do was stare to the white ceiling and think what she should do next. Honestly, she has no idea how her life got to that point.  It’s been at least 2 weeks since she moved to Kim Sunggyu’s house, and even living under the same roof as him she just saw him twice. One time was when he was changing clothes and the other was when he was leaving for his bar. It didn’t help that the two of them had completely different schedules to begin with. She would wake up every day at 6AM for practice, and at that hour Kim Sunggyu would be getting ready to sleep.

Also, to make things worse, she couldn’t help but feel like she was completely alone. Every time she was in her practice she wouldn’t see Jeon Hyosung. Her friend had been moved to a more advanced class and became the star of their new play. Song Jieun couldn’t say she was surprised. Everyone knew it would happen. If things continued like that, Jeon Hyosung would become the true star of the academy and have a bright future as the main star for many, many years. Not to mention she would spend her free time with her boyfriend, Jang Dongwoo.

Song Jieun was sure the two were about to get married but didn’t want to tell anyone about it. Only the future could tell right? And to make things even worst for her, her mother refused to talk to her. She said to her face that as soon she left the house, she had no longer a daughter. At that point, Song Jieun had no idea how words could hurt that much. She cried so much for so long and she had no one to tell her it was alright, that everything would be fine and her mother would come to her senses.

And it didn’t help that Nam Woohyun wasn’t the man she always thought he was. She always saw him as this caring, lovable man who in reality was probably playing with her feelings and making fun of her behind her back. At this point she felt completely alone, abandoned and like no one could make her feel better. She was completely heartbroken and she could feel herself falling deeper and deeper into a darkness that somehow made her feel like she was better off dead.  She knew it was just some stupid thoughts and that she should stop thinking about it before she took those thoughts too seriously.

She was thankful to Kim Sunggyu that he took her in but…she couldn’t help but think that he was getting colder and distant. It shouldn’t be like that right? The two of them were living together now, they should be feeling closer.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t the case. She wanted to be close to him, she really did, but it was like he was building a wall around him and she couldn’t pass it no matter how much she tried. Was she doomed to be alone? Was she doomed to live a life of loneliness no matter how many people were surrounding her? “No, no more bad thoughts!” She said. “From now on, I’ll only be positive! Positive!” She said as she looked to her mirror. she was going to keep a positive attitude! She knew that if she did it, the world would repay her with something good! She knew it!

She was completely focused on her reflection that she was completely surprised when the door bell rang. According to Kim Sunggyu, no one knew where he lived and no one knew if he lived with someone or not.  “Maybe I should ignore it?” She asked herself as she kept on looking to the mirror. maybe it was a mistake and if she didn’t answer the door the person ringing the doorbell would leave and realize the apartment was empty.

“Oh, I guess it worked!” She said a little happy as the annoying sound disappeared. She was sure that the person who kept on ringing that stupid doorbell was gone by now. This was, until she heard some seriously loud knocking and shouts. Shouts from a very familiar voice. Shouts that made her heart skip millions of beats and that made her think that the universe was having a laugh thanks to her. “Song Jieun! I know you’re in there! Open this door!” Why? Why was he there? What did he want? “Open this door before I knock it down!”

Was he serious? Would he actually do something like that? No….it was impossible right? There was no way he could do something like that. He wasn’t strong enough. It was completely impossible for a man to do it. “I did it once Jieun, I can do it again!” She had no idea if he was being honest or if he was just saying those things to scare her.

Either way, she didn’t want to risk it so she decided that it would be better if she opened the door once and for all. That way she would be able to end this drama once and for all and the neighbors wouldn’t complain about the hysterical man outside. She didn’t want to hear him anymore; he was making a scandal and she really wasn’t in the mood to hear a man that sounded like he just came out of a historical drama and was shouting to have his revenge or woman back. It sounded a little much if she thought about it, but at that moment, the whole thing looked like that.

The shouts continued and the knocking got louder. Without thinking again, she opened the door and saw the man. The man who never left her thoughts. The man who wouldn’t stop making her feel like something was seriously wrong with her. Seriously, he wasn’t annoying her so much that she could swear she was going crazy. “Stop it!” She said as she opened the door and looked at him. “What are you doing here Nam Woohyun?” She asked the man in front of her.

She couldn’t help but look at him from head to toe.  His face was completely red, he was sweating and he hard dark circles under his eyes. “I came here…to…talk to you!” He said between breaths as he looked at her. Song Jieun swallowed hard and looked at him. This was not the best moment. This was not the way she wanted to solve things between the two. Honestly speaking, she wasn’t sure if she wanted to solve things between the two. What was there to solve to begin with? Nothing. Nothing at all. “We have nothing to talk about Woohyun.” She said and prepared to close the door.

But he was faster. He placed he foot between the door and Song Jieun and grabbed it as well. “Let me talk! Please! Listen to what I’ve to say!” She opened to speak as she continued looking at him, not sure of what to say. “Please Jieun…” He sounded desperate and that totally had an impact on her. But as she was getting ready to answer, a strange smell came and she looked at him with wide eyes, not actually believing that the man in front of her actually did something like that. “…Have you been drinking?” Song Jieun asked and she saw the man look down to his feet and then to her.

“…Just a little bit…” He admitted and her eyes almost popped. She hated people who drank. She hated people who drank to find courage. It only meant they were nothing but cowards and saw comfort on drinking. “But please listen to me! What I’ve to tell you is really important!” Song Jieun kept on trying to close the door but Nam Woohyun was too strong for her. “You stink! Go away!”

She kept on trying to close the door, but he was faster. He managed to grab her arm and pushed her inside the house. “Listen to me!” His voice became louder and meaner. She was getting a little scared. “Listen to me Jieun!” He really wasn’t himself. The drinking was taking over him and his hold on Song Jieun was getting stronger, making her groan in pain. What the hell was wrong with him? Who was this person? “Let me go!” She was almost begging him. he was scaring her so much. “Let me go!” She said again but he wasn’t listening to her. He was completely intoxicated and wasn’t himself any longer. “No! Listen to me!” Nam Woohyun raised his other hand and Song Jieun closed her eyes, expecting the worse.  Was he actually going to hit her? No…He wasn’t like that, was he? “Just listen to me!” He said again and she closed her eyes again, waiting for the slap. But….it never came. She opened them and looked up. What she saw made her heart relax and tears of relief appear.

“….You shouldn’t treat a lady like that, now should you?”
