3 seconds...4 seconds...5 seconds...
I thought attending the most awesome parties, having the coolest gadgets, living in a prestigious residence building, or having a cool car would be enough to fill the hole in my heart and make my life worthwhile.
But filling that hole, as I learned, takes more than receiving numerous commendations and having bigger-than-life accomplishments in my career....
It's more than knowing lots of people, and having lots of friends.
At the end of the day, I would have to face what I left unfinished, let go of my pride, and gather up enough grace and courage to genuinely forgive...Forgive those who did not only do me wrong but scarred my heart forever.
Forgiveness, so I've learned, was they key to remove that heavy baggage in me and experience a life of liberty. I never thought that being able to forgive fully will make my life worthwhile.
Seungho thought as he stood and watched the scene in front of him. Suddenly, a smile crept out of his face seeing Mr. Yang and Eunji laughing heartily as they chat while grilling some meat.
Looking at the important people in my life, I realized that they are everything I need. I couldn't ask for more. Now I can say I have truly lived my life well.
Seungho just stood silently as he watched Eunji and Mr.Yang busy themselves with preparing food for the gathering. They were so busy, not bothered by his presence at all....
He was non-existent to them.
Suddenly, Joon and his wife with their baby arrived with a basket of food at hand. Eunji happily greeted the couple and took the baby to her arms to play with him. Seunghyun and his wife came just a few minutes later, with wine at hand. Joon and Mr. Yang greeted them happily, as Eunji and the other women chat happily on the side. It was a joyful reunion for everyone, and Seungho just smiled as he watched them enjoying each others' company, as if they haven't seen each other in years.
No one bothered to look his way....He was non-existent to them all.
*flashback*
3 seconds...4 seconds...5 seconds...
Everyone held their breaths as they wait for Seungho's response.
All of a sudden, a faint regular heart pattern was heard. The doctor sighed in relief as Eunji burst out to tears as she chuckled out of happiness.
After the medical team left, Eunji immediately approached Seungho's side and took his free hand with hers, making his hand cup her cheeks and letting her tears wet his palms hoping to let Seungho know that she is weeping and waiting for him to return.
Eunji just sat beside him and watched him as he slept, oy and anxiety mixing together as she waited for him to emerse from coma.

When Mr. Yang woke up, he insisted on seeing Seungho. The doctor and nurses were totally against it, but he forced his way through.
When he arrived in Seungho's room, he found Eunji sleeping while sitting beside Seungho, her head resting in Seungho's arms. He slowly moved his wheelchair near Seungho's bed and watched as his son slept peacefully with tubes and wires attached to him. Mr. Yang took Seungho's hand in his, careful not to touch the needle attached to Seungho's vein. He couldn't help but tear-up seeing Seungho, his son, who has always shown his tough and strong side of him, lying helplessly on the bed while fighting for his life.
All of a sudden, he noticed Seungho's eyes fluttering slowly...Mr. Yang remained still and watched for Seungho's next move. Seungho slowly opened his eyes and stared in the ceiling for a while. He then slowly shifted his gaze to his left, careful not to move his head because of the tube (for breathing) inserted through his mouth, and saw his father looking at him in shock. Slowly, a small smile crept in Seungho's eyes as his eyes met his father's. Mr. Yang, seeing Seungho awake and smiling at him, couldn't help but let the tears of joy flow out as he smiled back.
”Son...”
He held Seungho's hand tight as he continued to sob. Seungho, seeing his father smiling heartily as he sobbed, let oout a tear as well.
Mr. Yang looked deep into Seungho's eyes and caressed his hand as he spoke,
“You've been one hell of a fighter son. We'll get through this in no time, son...We'll get through this...”
Seungho forced himself to smile bigger, not mindful of the pain from almost every part of his body.
Mr. Yang forced himself to stand up, despite the pain in his abdomen from the operation, and kissed Seungho's forehead. Seungho cannot help but tear up at his father's gesture.
He could not believe that this time will come for them.
*end of flashback*
Eunji suddenly looked in Seungho's way, seeing Seungho standing by the window with a big smile on his face. She gestured for Seungho to come out, but Seungho shook his head. Eunji's eyes grew bigger, attempting to scare Seungho, but Seungho just smiled and shook his head again. Eunji glared at Seungho, then excused herself from the circle and heade back to the house. Seungho let out a soft chuckle seeing Eunji falling for his charms to get him out of the house.
Seungho was too preoccupied with his thoughts that he didn't noticed Eunji tip-toing from behind him as she slowly approached him. She suddenly hugged Seungho from behind, startling Seungho.
“You brat, I told you to come out already...Our guests are here!” Eunji said as her cheek rested in Seungho's back.
Seungho pulled Eunji's arms to bring their bodies closer
“It's fun watching you guys from here. Everyone looks happy.”
Eunji looked up to Seungho and smiled. “But it'll be more fun if you're there with us.”
Seungho kissed her forehead, then looked back to the window, enjoying watching everyone having a great time.
“C'mon, lunch is ready. We don't want to keep everyone waiting, do we?” Eunji said, breaking the hug and tugging Seungho's hand towards the kitchen door.
“Alright, alright.” Seungho helplessly complied as he let himself get dragged by Eunji.
The moment they stepped out, everyone broke into a cheer seeing Seungho well and good. They enjoyed that afternoon of food and stories, hearty laughter and mushy love filling the air.
