▬ Chapter 4: "L" ▬

After the end of class, I went home and decided to sleep earlier than usual. I was about to go to sleep when I remembered what Myungsoo said to me earlier in the auditorium.

“Okay then. I’ll believe in you. You know I’ll always be here, right?” He assured.

“Of course. You’ll always be my superhero ‘L.’ ”

“L, huh?” I smiled. “It brings back memories.”

[10 years ago]

Thunder and lightning engulfed the room, creating horrendous sounds that shrieked at the corridors of the entire house.

“S-Sungyeol oppa!” I cried out. “Oppa!”

“Haneul! Stay there, okay?! Oppa’s coming to get you!” He shouted.

The house was dark since the thunder and lightning outside caused a power outage. Both of us were at Myungsoo’s house to play since our parents were out because they had to attend another meeting with Myungsoo’s parents. Ever since the day I was born I have always been afraid of the dark along with thunder and lightning so Sungyeol oppa was always there to take care of me.

“Oppa…” I started to cry. “Where are you?”

“Haneul!” A flash of light overwhelmed me. Myungsoo quickly ran towards me with his flashlight. “Are you okay?” He asked worriedly.

I sniffed and buried my head on his shoulders. “M-Myungsoo~ Wah~” I cried.

“Shh. Don’t worry, I’m here to protect you!” He tried to calm me down.

“M-Myungsoo,” I began to speak in between sobs. “How did you know… that I was here?”

“It’s because I’m like ‘L’ from Death Note. I’m smart so I knew where to look for you,” he replied nonchalantly.

“You eat a lot too,” I teased.

“Hey. Are you teasing me right now?” He started to tickle me to the ground.
