Chapter fifteen – gratitude.

The Player Player [momentarily on hiatus]

Chapter fifteen – gratitude.

“Do you remember anything that accounts teacher said?” Nana asked as she and Jisun exited the class. “I wasn’t able to catch a thing!”

“That’s usual for you, Nana.” Jisun said, rolling her eyes. “You sleep.”

“But not this time!” Nana protested.

“Yeah right.” Jisun scoffed and took out her cellphone from her bag. “Photocopy the notes if you want. But make sure to return them.”

“I love you, my sweet, darling little Jisun!” Nana squealed and enclosed Jisun in a hug who only returned a grin.

She made notes, but it surely wasn’t the notes that she was thinking about.

It was Yi Fan.

The nerve of that bastard..she thought. It’s been nine freaking years and he didn’t even bother to give me a peck, nonetheless, say hi. I wasn’t hard on him. I wasn’t hard on him at all. I was harder on him when we were younger. But even back then, he’d give me a hug before disappearing. The nerve of this…

She didn’t know it, but she had typed all her thoughts and had sent it as a text to Nana.

Nana who was right beside her.

“Gosh, Jiji, are you really that angry at him?” Nana asked, reading the text from her phone.

“I can’t believe him, Nana! It’s not just one year, or three or five years! Nine effin’ years! And he didn’t even bother to say hi to me! I’m his best friend, for crying out loud! His first female friend, first Korean friend, his ex-fiancée! Is it a sin for him to, I don’t know, hug me or give me a kiss or just talk to me?!” Jisun demanded.

“From what I saw, you really scared him.”

“I scared him? I always scared him! That’s what I did to keep him in place! Look how he is now! Just because we didn’t see each other for nine years, he’s forgotten what I’ve done to him!”

Nana stared at her friend as she continued rambling. Her lips twitched into a sweet smile. Jisun was so cute, in her opinion. She pretended to be mature, she pretended to be scary, but inside, she was a fragile little cute girl – just like that kid that was born in your neighbor’s house.

She often would feel jealous of Jisun. She had the looks, the brains, the fame, the mouney and she was even good in sports. She was almost close to perfect. If it wasn’t for her ‘I’m always right’ attitude and anger management issues, she’d be perfect.

Well, those were some among many of her flaws, at least.

“Give it a rest, Sunny.” Nana said, dismissively waving her hand. “You’ve gone through a lot of boys, you can handle him too.”

Hearing Jisun sigh, Nana cocked her head to get a full glance of her. Her eyes were…sparkling.

“He’s not just any other guy, Nana. He’s Yi Fan.” Jisun mumbled. “He was my first friend, if you don’t count agei(1).” Her voice clearly stated how upset she was.

Nana couldn’t help but feel guilty.

She wrapped her arms around the girl’s body and rested her face on her shoulder. “My Jisun is a strong girl. Maybe he was just shocked to suddenly see you, nonetheless, with his best friend. He’ll get over it. He’ll still be your first friend.”

Nana tried her best to ignore the little stab of jealously her that her own words hit her as she watched Jisun smile. Having Jisun happy was better than her own happiness.

.

“You can’t do this, Luhan, no!” Kris wailed as he followed Luhan. “She’ll kill me! No, worse! She won’t kill me!”

Luhan rolled his eyes. He, never once, remembered Kris getting this worked up about anything. Even when he found out that Sehun had dated his younger sister, he still didn’t get this worked up.

Jisun was surely something.

“I’m not doing anything to you, you idiot.” Luhan finally said, getting rather annoyed. “And how is her not killing you worse?”

“She’ll torture me! She’ll make me regret being born; her ways of torture are unimaginable.” Luhan sighed and turned away from Kris.

There he was. Going to start on how ‘scary’ and ‘evil’ Jisun was. And once he started, he didn’t bother to stop.

More like, he couldn’t stop.

“I get it, I get it. You’ve been chanting every time I mention her name.” Luhan said. “Can’t you say something good about her instead.”

“There’s nothing.” Kris’s monotonous voice answered at once.

“There’s a lot.” Luhan said at once. “She’s a good cook, a model older sister, a perfect housewife-” he was counting his fingers as he carried on his list. This time, it was Kris who had to roll his eyes.

“Alright, I get it.” he said, waving his hand at Luhan. “But dude, I stole her private jet and crashed her favorite car. What right do I have to even talk to her?”

“The right to apologize. You can just go and tell her that you’re sorry. That you’ll pay back for it, or that you’ll get them back for her. I’m pretty sure that won’t be difficult.” Luhan shrugged.

Not difficult my FOOT!” Kris shouted. Everyone in the hallway turned to them.

“Kris-ssi, is something wrong?” a female student asked at once.

“Are you and Luhan-ssi having a fight?” another one asked. And one by one, the questions began pouring all in. It was going to be a long walk to Jisun.

.

Jinsu fidgeted with her hair as she walked pass Oh Sehun to her seat, which was on seat beside him, in their art class. One hour to go and she could finally meet the player player.

She could finally get her revenge.

“Hey, isn’t that Jinsu? The girl who got dumped by Sehun oppa?”

“Yeah, that’s her right? I can’t believe she came to school.”

“I heard she slapped him!”

No way!

“The nerve of the …I can’t believe-”

Jinsu was about to tear up. What had she done wrong? She was hurt, she was sad, she was betrayed!

She was played!

It was th most obvious thing one would do!

It was Sehun who had done wrong, not her!

Then why was she the target of all the rumors? Why had she been the target of the bullies when she had taken her first step in school?

“Enough!” a superior voice stopped all the whisperings around class.

Sehun, who had been busy chatting with Jinyoung, also looked up at direction the voice had come from. A wide grin took over his face.

Jinsu tried her best to blink back her tears when she saw who had spoken up.

Kai.

Kim Jongin.

“Aish.” he growled. “I was hoping that I would get a nap in this class. That was the only damn reason I came to school! And yet, I get swarmed on by some stupid rumors about a girl whom the Hun-tard broke up with. Get a life! He’s going to date every single girl in this school before he graduates and he’s going to dump every single one of them. Face the facts, you’ll be talking like that about your friends soon enough.”

The class was plunged into a deep silence as Kai spoke. No one dared to speak.

“I swear, if I hear one more gossip about someone who Hun-tard dated…” Kai trialed off with a groan as Sehun jumped on him.

“The white prince is here!” he announced. Closely behind him, Jinyoung trialed and threw an arm around Kai. He only rolled his eyes.

The class began returning to normal once again. But this time, there were no rumors. Maybe something about someone getting a Gucci bag, or scoring a ticket to a Jeremy Scott fashion show.

Nothing about Jinsu.

As Kai walked towards his table (which was right in front of hers), she couldn’t help but smile.

“Thank you so much, Kai-ssi.” She mumbled under her breath. Her voice was so soft that she could have sworn that no one other than herself heard it.

Could have.

“Be a pal, and next time, don’t ever think of dating a guy like Sehun.” Kai said, over his shoulder as he pretended to listen to what Jinyoung and Sehun were talking about. “And that wasn’t for you. That was for my own benefit.”

Jinsu smiled.

“Still. Thank you so much, Kai-ssi.”

Kai only grunted a reply before dozing off, having Jinyoung and Sehun shout at him.

Jinsu could only wonder if the player player was like Kai. Pretending as if it was for her own benefit while she had hidden intentions.

The only thing she could do was wait. Wait until school ended.

New reader~ and I'm loving it so far.
The chemistry between Jisun and Luhan... WOW! The way they act around each other is like they're more than best friends.
