“So has she seen it yet?” Eunhyuk asked Donghae when he visited their dorm.

“Nope not yet.” Donghae answered back as he took a drink from the ref.

“You don’t live here anymore hyung. You can’t just get anything that you want from the fridge.” Kyuhyun told Donghae as he got himself a fruit from the kitchen.

“Anyway, I’m going to show her when I get home.” Donghae told them as he ignored the maknae’s comment.

“Well she better likes it. I got my finger accidentally hammered because of that crib that you made us work on when we could have just bought it fixed.” Heechul muttered as he showed them his bruised hand.

“Well Heechul you should’ve stopped tinkering with your Iphone first while we were doing the handy work.” Leeteuk replied, letting Heechul know his fault.

“Yeah hyung. Won’t it feel special to know that my baby’s sleeping comfortably on the crib that we made from our sweats and hard work?” Donghae defended himself.

“Arasso. Well your baby better sleep well in it.” Heechul answered.

Donghae’s phone rang and he excused himself from the guys as he answered the call from his wife.

“Hi yeobo…uhm yeah I’m just here at the dorm. Oh, you’re cooking? Yeobo I told you not to tire yourself out. I’m going home now...because you don’t listen to me. No they don’t need me here. I’ll be there in a few minutes. Okay. Love you too, bye.” Donghae turned around as soon as he ended the call and saw the mixed expressions on the guy’s faces.

“What? Why?” He asked them confused

“Don’t act too sweet in front of us.” Sungmin told Donghae as he cringed.

“Yeah. I bet you guys he’s going do some baby talk to his baby.” Yesung said and the others agreed.

Donghae just laughed at them and bid goodbye to come home to his wife.

 

“Yeobo I’m home.” Donghae shouted as soon as he entered their apartment.

“Hi oppa.” _______ greeted him sweetly with a hug.

Donghae kissed her on the lips while his hand was on her belly.

“Hi baby…” Donghae bent down to greet their baby as well. _______ was now showing a baby bump and Donghae was amazed by it.

“I can’t believe you scolded me in front of the brother-in-laws earlier.” _______ said and pouted when Donghae looked back at her

“I did not scold you. You just didn’t listen to me.” Donghae replied when he stood back up.

“Well I didn’t continue cooking when you told me off. So now you have a pregnant and hungry wife.” ______ told Donghae as she placed her hands on her hips.

“Then you should be happy. Your hubby brought you food.” Donghae answered, showing his wife a plastic bag with food making her smile.

 

Donghae set the table while ______ arranged the food.

“Oppa, is this seaweed soup?” _______ asked Donghae to make sure.

“Yeah, my mom told me that it should be good for you.” Donghae replied.

The two started to eat happily. Donghae told _______ the latest news about the other guys from Super Junior.

After sharing stories, Donghae was being a bit fidgety and _______ noticed it.

“Oppa, what’s wrong?” ______ asked curiously

“Huh? Me? Nothing…I’m good.” Donghae replied, trying to act cool.

______ tilted her head and raised an eyebrow at him.

“Fine…are you done eating?” Donghae asked as he placed his chopsticks down.

“Yes. Why?” _______ asked.

“I have a surprise for you.” Donghae said and stood up from his place. He then went to ______’s side and offered his hand.

______ stood up with Donghae’s help, she was curious with what Donghae had in mind.

Donghae hugged ______ from behind as he pushed her body with his gently towards the old storage / study room.

Donghae got the key from his pocket and both of them heard the lock click.

“Okay, close your eyes first.” Donghae told his wife first and she complied quickly.

When Donghae was about to open the door ______ squeezed his hand tight, making him look back at her.

“Oppa…I don’t feel good.” ______ suddenly said and Donghae could see a pained expression on her face.

“What’s wrong?” Donghae asked feeling agitated but he was still trying to keep himself calm.

“It hurts!” ______ told him and her other hand was holding on to her stomach. She then dropped to the floor in pain, crying.

Donghae was now alarmed and carried _______ off the floor immediately, adrenaline pumped in his system as he brought _______ down a couple of steps and out to their car.

He drove as fast as he could to the nearest hospital. His one hand was on the stirring wheel and the other was holding on to ________’s hand. She was shifting around in her seat, trying to find a position that will maybe soothe her pain.

 

 

- Hours later -

 

Donghae and _______ walked inside their house, a somber atmosphere surrounded them.

“Let’s get you to bed. The doctor said you should take it easy.” Donghae reminded _______ as he was helping her walk towards their bedroom.

“I want to see it.” ________ said as she stopped in her tracks.

“What?” Donghae asked her with a confused expression.

“I want to see the surprise.” _______ told Donghae as she looked him in the eye.

Donghae sighed and then led her to the room that they were about to enter earlier.

________ definitely felt bittersweet when she saw what was being hidden in that particular room. “For the past few weeks, the guys from Super Junior helped me fix this nursery. We built the furniture’s from scratch. The sisters-in-law from After School helped when they stalled you when you stayed over there. They also sent that stroller.” Donghae informed ________ without too much enthusiasm. This was not the way he imagined things would be. Tears rolled down from _______’s eyes as she entered and observed the nursery, pastel colors were painted just to be on the safe side since they still didn’t know the of the baby. There were play mats, a crib, a daybed, a cabinet with a diaper changing pad on top, etc.

“It’s beautiful.” _______ said with difficulty as she tried hard to control her emotions. She was starting to cry a lot when she excused her self from Donghae. She walked briskly towards their bedroom and closed the door as she entered the room. Donghae was in tears too, he couldn’t help but hit the door frame of the room out of frustration.

After both have calmed down, ______ went out of their bedroom. Donghae was on the couch in the living room when he saw ______ approach her. Her eyes were puffy and her nose was red.

______ sat beside him and he wrapped his arms around him tightly. He kissed her hair before resting his chin on her shoulder as he tried to comfort her.

 

 

*flashback at the hospital earlier*

 

“I’m sorry Mr. and Mrs. Lee but this is something that the tests weren’t able to detect earlier.” The couple’s OB/GYN was starting to inform them of the bad news.

“What is it?” Donghae asked anxiously as he held ______’s hand.

“There are some complications. If _______ goes through the pregnancy, there’s a big risk that she could have a postpartum hemorrhage, a severe bleeding after giving birth. I’m sorry.”  The doctor broke the news down to the couple.

 

*end of flashback*

 

 

“We’re going to have a baby boy.” _______ reminded Donghae of another fact that their doctor told them earlier. They were finally able to find out the gender of their baby.

Donghae remained quiet.

“We haven’t even picked names yet.” _______ said again and that made Donghae snap.

“Stop it! We still have to process this _______. We will get through this.” Donghae said as he stood up from the couch.

“I thought I wasn’t ready to have a kid but I can’t do what they’re telling us to do oppa.” _______ told Donghae.

“_______, I don’t want to either but if you have this baby you can die. Please think about it.” Donghae was almost pleading with ________ to change her mind.

“I’m going to have the baby.” She firmly replied with her decision.

“I can’t…I can’t talk to you right now if you’re not going to consider our other options. I’m going out to clear my head first.” Donghae said and went out of their apartment.

Donghae went to the park near their place, he let out all his tears and frustrations as he ran around the spacious green area. He couldn’t believe what was happening to them. What did they do so wrong to deserve this kind of bad luck?

Donghae went back to their place minutes after he felt like he’s ready to face their problem.

He was taken a back when he saw ______ washing the dishes. She’s been crying again and it hurt him a lot. He walked towards her and turned the faucet off.

He got the hand towel from the side and dried _______’s hands.

_______ looked up at him with bloodshot eyes making him hug her tight.

“You heard what the doctor said. She said that there’s a great chance that something could happen to you and we could lose the baby anyway. We don’t have to make a decision now. We can take a few days before we go back there.”

“I’m not going to abort our baby!” ______ pulled back from him, mad that he’s even considering that option.

“It’s not an abortion ______! That’s different from what the doctors said.”

“Call it what it is but it’s the same difference.”

Donghae took a deep breath, not wanting to upset _______ and make the situation worse.

“The doctor said that you must have felt something that you didn’t tell us. What happened?”

“I experienced some pain early on. It was much less painful than the one I felt today. I thought it was nothing.” _______ remembered.

“That was selfish and wrong for you not to tell me.” Donghae said as rubbed the temples of his head.

“I’m sorry.” ______ apologized sincerely.

“ Look _______, if the pregnancy means I lose you then I don’t want to take that risk. Let’s end the pregnancy.” Donghae was putting his foot down.

“It’s not just anything you can put a stop to Donghae. It’s our baby!” _______ responded angrily.

“We can try again in the future if the doctor says that it’s healthy and safe enough. We can adopt too –“ he was trying to talk to her about their other options when she cut him off.

“No! The life inside of me is both you and I. I’m not giving up.”

“Look, I don’t want our child to grow up without a mother. I’ve lived through loosing a parent ______, and I don’t want our kid to feel the same thing that I felt. It’s a recurring nightmare and you know it’s something I haven’t moved on from until now. I lost my dad when I was old already, what more will our child feel if you were gone from the start?” Donghae tried to make _______ realize his fears.

“You can remarry.” She mumbled

“______!” He couldn’t help but raise his voice at what she just said and her stubbornness.

“Look, I know you’re guilting me into giving up our baby.”

“If it means that I get to keep you alive then so be it.” Donghae replied sternly

______ shook her head “I want to stay with the girls’ tonight.” she suddenly said

“What??”

“I can’t deal with this right now. You have your own opinion and I have mine. Obviously we’re just going to argue through the whole entire time and I don’t want us regretting any words that we’ll say out of anger or frustration. I need my space to think and you need your time too. You can call the guys over if you want.”

 

______ called Gahee and asked her to pick her up, her voice was still trembling and so her unnie didn’t ask anymore questions.

“You’ll come home soon, right?” Donghae asked almost desperately, scared of her answer. He knew she needed her personal space and didn’t argue anymore. He would’ve been more secure if their families lived near them and let _______ stay with them so they could make sense of their situation but it wasn’t the case. No one said it was easy, but then again no one said it would be this hard.

______ just zipped her overnight bag before looking back at her husband.

“I’ll be home within the week. I just need…”

“You don’t have to explain anything. I just wanted to hear your assurance. I love you yeobo, you know that, right?”

“I do and I love you too.” _______ replied sincerely.

Just then, Gahee sent a text message to _______, letting her know that she was at their place already.

“Unnie’s here already. I’d feel better if you have a couple of the guys accompany you or if you go back to your dorm first.” _______ advised Donghae and he nodded.

“Eat on time and try not to loose a lot of sleep.” _______ kissed him on the forehead and he got her hand.

“You too. Call me anytime.” Donghae planted a kiss on her hand before accompanying her out.
