"I thought they would get mad about the delay and change of plan. I guess you were right."

Yerin smirks. "I told you. The stairs are better like that. You have to have a little faith in me, Sojung."

"I'm just glad they gave us this box of apples." She nudges the other before stopping in her steps. "But no more crazy ideas. You can't delay every project because of your singular opinion."

"I got it, I got it." She starts the car and puts her seat belt on. "Since we're here, let's check out the townhouses."

"We can't. We'll be late for our meeting with Eunbi."

"...eh?"

"We're meeting with her at two." Sojung tilts her head to the side. "Did you forget?"

"You never told me!" She backs up and starts to drive, now a little eager to get back to the office.

"It shouldn't be a problem if we don't make it in time, anyway," the older shrugs. "She's my friend, so she'll be fine with waiting over there."

Yerin scoffs. "That's an abuse of power. Why would you make her wait?!" she refutes.

"Okay okay! Drive faster then."

-

Eunbi arrives a little earlier than the scheduled time.

What if they think I'm desperate? she worries. No. I was hired. It's okay.

She pats her chest over her heart, doing her pre-meeting chant to herself.

You're no longer the old Eun— no. Old or new, I'm Eunbi. You can do this. I can do this.

-

"So, the event should be finished by 7 pm. Here are all the details." She hands the two architects a few papers of the entire layout and plan.

While Yerin flips through the pages, she adds, "You know, our employees loved the idea you presented: the homey neighborhood style concept."

Sojung agrees. "We said something like that when we were building it— 'a place to age gracefully.'"

"Designing it, one thing that came to mind was a willow tree or something like that. Like in the rural areas where there's one place the neighborhood gathers to?"

A moment of silence overcomes them as they continue to look through the file.

Eunbi nods her head slowly and mutters, "I get what you mean. 'The tree is there everytime you come by, so why can't a building be the same?' That's what my idea is."

Yerin gives her a small smile. "I like how casual it is. The talk show, the catering, the music, and even the campfire with sweet potatoes? It's unique." Her smile grows bigger, with her dimples coming out. "I like it."

A knock at the door interrupts their little moment of eye contact. "Team leader, can we have your help with something?" Bona politely asks.

"I'll be right there." She stands and faces the other two in the room. "You guys can keep going." As she walks out, Eunbi kept her eyes trained on her the entire time until she was out of sight of the glass door.

The older architect puts the files down. "Just send us the budget, and do it as planned." Noticing where her friend is looking, Sojung grins and taps the other. "Eunbi."

"Hm?" she finally looks her way.

"What do you think?"

"About what?"

"About Yerin." There's a teasing smile on her face that Eunbi doesn't fail to notice. "I saw you staring. Isn't she cute?"

The younger simply scoffs and starts to gather her papers. "I don't know what you're talking about."

A few minutes later, they step out of the meeting room to head out. They see Yerin at a table, helping the other employees with a floor plan.

Sojung taps her cousin to get her attention. "We're heading out."

"Where?"

"We're gonna visit Eunha at the cafe."

Yerin puts on a smile and bows politely to the both of them, bidding them farewell.

Eunbi however, feels confused. How is Yerin acting so normal already? Up until two days ago, the other was obsessed with Eunbi. Now, she's acting very civil and collected.

Wait, why do I care? Isn't this good?

-

"If I win the latte contest, I'll take you all out for barbecue!" Eunha brags. The other three cheer at the preposition. The small girl leans towards Eunbi, "You could invite Yerin."

She receives a blank look in return, but another person had heard the statement.

"Right! Eunbi, while working with us, you could make a move on her. Ask her out, y'know?" Sojung teases again.

The three best friends exchange subtle looks, forgetting that Sojung is the only one that doesn't know.

"I saw how you were looking at her," she wiggles her brows. "Acting all snide and everything."

Yewon kicks her leg from under the table. But Sojung, being a little slow at times, is clueless as to why. "Why'd you kick me?"

-----

Eunbi can't stop staring at the necklace.

There was no note that came with it. Sure, it's fairly obvious what the surfboard means, but the intention behind it is messing with her.

The ring on the other hand, she tries slipping it on for the first time in a while. It feels unnatural, having worn it around her neck the past year.

Should she give it back?

She snaps out of her thoughts when she looks at the time.

After setting everything up and coordinating with the staff, Eunbi starts to monitor the events happening in the cultural complex. Right as she was about to head to the camera room, Sojung calls out to her.

Yerin bows politely to her as the older compliments Eunbi. Bringing her eyes down, she gets disappointed when she sees no jewelry around Eunbi's neck.

"I'll be right back," Sojung excuses herself, spotting her girlfriend and Yewon.

Eunbi doesn't stay for a few more words. She bows and continues to follow the employee to the camera room.

The tall woman plants a kiss on the top of Eunha's head. "I'm sorry I'm pretty busy right now. I'll see you guys later, okay?"

After she goes back to her duties, Eunha closes her eyes to the acoustic live music playing.

"I can't believe our friend designed this place. It's beautiful," Yewon sighs.

"I heard there's going to be a book cafe. Maybe I could work there."

"You already have three jobs."

The older hums. "What if your novel gets published and is in the cafe? It could be a great way for me to promote it."

Yewon laughs, "That's far-fetched, but would be cool."

"Is everything going alright?" Eunbi asks as she enters.

"The events in the different rooms are going as scheduled, but I think there's too many people in this room," one says.

The marketer agrees, saying they could split the occupants into two groups. As the worker talks through his walkie-talkie, Eunbi spots someone on the screen in one of the galleries.

Yerin.

The architect wasn't doing anything special, only standing there with her hands in her pockets, admiring the art displayed.

She looked absolutely beautiful, even through the low quality security camera, and Eunbi catches herself staring.

Meanwhile, Yerin had started to wander around the building when her father finds her.

"Yerin! Come, come. This is my daughter," he brags to the people with him.

She bows formally to the man beside her father, recognizing him as the mayor of this town.

"I see why you talk about her a lot," the mayor laughs, shaking Yerin's hand. "The building is beautiful. Congratulations, and thank you."

"Thank you so much," she bows again, smiling brightly. As the others keep walking, her dad gets left behind. "I'll see you later dad. I'm kind of in the middle of something."

"Of course, of course."

Right as Yerin leaves, her cousin comes up.

"Uncle! I want you to meet Eunha, my girlfriend," Sojung smiles.

The other greets brightly, "Nice to meet you, sir. I'm Jung Eunha."

"Nice to meet you as well." He pauses for a second as he recognizes her face. "We've seen each other a few times at the company, right?"

"Yes sir!"

"I wanted to introduce her formally, finally," Sojung adds.

"Well," the man smiles, "I'll have you know that all my n

Chapter 16: Is the original series have a sequel for this? The ending seems rush. I know this story followed the original drama that's why I'm wondering. Despite wonha still loving each other, they need to end up this way? But a happy ending for Sinrin is ♥️.
