"Thank you for the wine, but tonight! We'll be drinking something stronger." Yewon wiggles her eyebrows and points to the bottle.

"But none for Yerin, okay?" Sojung laughs.

"That bottle looks oddly familiar," she says sarcastically. Yerin gives a sharp look to her cousin.

"Hey. I saved you from becoming an alcoholic."

"Who said I was going to be one?" She lowers her tone a little in shame. "What are your friends going to think?"

"I heard you were pretty upset because of that camera thief." Yewon grabs the bottle of alcohol. "Let me pour you a glass—"

"YAH what did I just say?" The tallest pushes the bottle away. "Until you have completely forgotten about her," she grabs a different bottle. "Just water."

"Alright!" Eunha squeaks. "Cheers~" After clinking glasses and drinking, she lets out a sound of refreshment.

"So," Sojung starts. "About the ring. What did you do with it?"

"Ey, of course she threw it away after catching the camera thief. 'You're nothing to me anymore. Same with this ring,'" Yewon monologues.

Eunha rolls her eyes lightheartedly, "Put that in your novel."

Yerin stays quiet and drinks her glass of water. As she puts it down, she looks at the other person with sealed lips from across her. "What do you think about the camera thief, Eunbi?" She smirks, seeing how Eunbi froze and is trying to think of a response.

"Well," Eunbi says after a moment. "You seem to enjoy sharing stories with everyone about your love life."

"And you seem to enjoy keeping it to yourself," the architect butts back.

"Of course. I'm very discreet about mine."

"Then, my apologies." She says it a little uptight, but clears subtly. "I'm sorry."

Yewon huffs after watching that interaction. "Yerin's just a little upset about the camera thief, Eunbi. Don't take it too personally."

"But Eunbi, show us the rings you have." Eunha leans closer, trying to appeal to her friend.

"Oh yeah!" Sojung claps her hands. "Show us the rings. Come ooon."

Eunbi's eyes widen and she gulps. "W-what?"

"Yewon said you have rings."

"Are you seeing someone? Who is it~" Eunha stretches her arm to tickle Eunbi, but the younger leans away.

"What's it to you? Even if I was seeing someone, I'd never tell you guys." Eunbi clenches her jaw and looks to the round eyes across her. "Unlike someone here, I know how to keep a secret." She stands up abruptly and heads to the door.

"Where are you going?" Eunha pouts.

"Bathroom."

"Why is she so secretive?" Yewon asks, knowing the other can still hear her. "Are we not her friends?"

Yerin had followed Eunbi with her eyes, all the way until the latter went inside her house. She bites her lip in thought.

"Oh right." Sojung brings a folder out of her bag. "I brought the files and proposals for Eunbi—"

"Let me give it to her," she snatches it out of her cousin's hands. "I need to use the bathroom anyway."

"Oookay?" Yerin had already gone inside, leaving Sojung's hand suspended in the air.

Eunbi was chugging ice cold water despite the weather in hopes of bringing down her temperature. She even pat some water on her face and neck because she just couldn't stop getting cold sweats. Yerin wasn't surprised to see me. Does she know? And how much does she know?

She turns her head at the sound of the door opening, but regrets it when she sees who walks in. She looks the other way, but can still feel eyes on her.

A sigh comes out from both of them, and Yerin's leather shoes click on the floor even with her miniscule steps.

Yerin breathes out once more and mutters, "Sojung thinks I'm here because of this," catching the other's attention. She holds the folder tightly in her hand and hits it against her other palm. "I see you're very close to my cousin," she breathes out a laugh. "Who would have known?"

Pursing her lips, she turns to look around at the place. It's a quaint apartment; warm and filled with things. In the corner, she can see  what is Eunbi's work station with a table, lamp, corkboard, whiteboard, etcetera.

"Fascinating. Can't believe I'm here... at your agency... with project proposals—"

"I can't work with you." There's a look of indifference on Eunbi's face, but Yerin nods at her statement.

"Of course," she dips her head. "I can't work with you either."

Eunbi clenches and relaxes her fist behind her back, something she would usually do to control herself. "Then why are you here?"

Unmoving for a moment, Yerin replies in a solemn voice, "I wanted to see if this Eunbi is the same as the one I met at the police station."

Eunbi blinks, then deeply exhales. "You can leave then."

Yerin bites her tongue as she just stares at the other. Yerin's eyes weren't bright anymore, compared to the start of the night. They flickered a different flame which she herself isn't sure where it's coming from.

She tosses the folder to the table on the side, and takes a step towards the door. "Is that all you have to say?"

"What do you want me to say?"

Yerin swallows down her frustration. "Anything." She throws her fist down weakly and takes a step closer. "But there's nothing you can say, isn't there? You can't even at least explain to me why you didn't tell any of them outside about us? Why you ended things between us like that?"

Eunbi opens and closes , but nothing comes out.

"I looked for you, you know? The least you can do is say something." When she still receives no response, Yerin chuckles sadly and runs a hand through her hair. "So this is how Hwang Eunbi is like, huh?

If Sinb was here, she would have told me everything. Or at least, tried to be honest. She made an effort. That's why I loved her." Yerin slips her hands into her coat pockets. "But of course... You're not Sinb. Sinb would have said it to my face rather than leaving a lousy voicemail. Sinb's not a coward—" She puts a hand on the door knob, "—unlike you."

When the door shuts, Eunbi breaks down into tears, slumping against her kitchen counter down to the floor. She tried to hold it in until the other left, because she didn't want to show weakness. She didn't want to show Yerin that she was right— that she's a coward; that she's not strong and ambiguous like Sinb.

Because Eunbi is Eunbi.

"How'd it go?" Sojung asks, seeing her cousin return.

"I gave her the materials. You can explain the details. Anyway, I need to get going." She pats the taller's head, only being able to do this when Sojung is sitting.

"Already?" Yewon asks.

"I'll see you guys later," Yerin nods. She accepts the farewell handshake from the youngest, and heads down the stairs.

"She is so cool," Yewon sighs. "My type of woman."

Sojung turns to her girlfriend beside her and holds her arm. "Baby, wanna go? We can talk to Eunbi later."

"Sure!"

"Waiiit!" Yewon stomps her foot. "Are you going to make be clean all this up by myself?"

Eunha shrugs. "Fine. We'll play you for it." She puts out a fist, "Rock paper scissors, shoot!"

Two papers against a rock.

"YEAH HA let's go!" Sojung pulls her girlfriend up and grabs her stuff. "Have fun, Yewonnie~" She kisses the top of the youngest's head, with Eunha doing the same.

As they walk away in giggles, Yewon scolds her hand for bringing her to this demise. She hears the door open, raising her head to a wobbling Eunbi. "They all left already. What took you so long?"

Eunbi goes straight to cleaning up the utensils and plates. "You were the one that gave Sojung my stuff, weren't you?"

The other hums and gathers the cups on the table. "She has a lot of connections. I asked if she could share them, because honestly? I think you're amazing at what you do." She straightens up and looks Eunbi in the eye. "If Sojung thought otherwise, then she wouldn't have shared them. Even the Jung Yerin came here immediately."

Eunbi plops onto a chair and rubs her face. "Whatever. I feel like crap."

Yewon raises a brow to that, but continues to clean up. Distracted, she only notices Eunbi chug the expensive liquor when her glass was practically empty already. "Yah! You gulped down a million won!!!"

Later, Yewon had come out of the bathroom only to find more mess on the kitchen table. "Aish, how much stuff did we even use?" Her brows shoot up to her forehead when she finds the expensive liquor bottle on the table as well— empty. "No no no... EUNBI!" she yells. Running to the other's room, "You can't just drink this all by yours—"

Swinging the door open, she's greeted by an empty room. "Eunbi?" Looking all around the house, she finds no sign of her. "Where'd she go?"

-

Yuna attempts to walk straight— well, she's trying not to fall face first. She scolds herself whenever she feels like she's about to collapse, enduring the cold weather.

After a few steps, she sees a familiar face appear in front of her. Yuna smirks, standing upright though a little unstable. "Hwang Eunbi... It's been a while."

The other haphazardly bows in return, meaning she's tipsy as well. "Where are you going?" she mumbles.

"To see Yewon, of course~"

"Why are you going to see Yewon?"

Yuna sadly chuckles. "I got kicked out."

"...why...?"

"Would you want me around if I was drunk like this everyday?"

Eunbi nods, clearly not understanding the question. "But why will you go to Yewon?"

The taller chuckles again, mind not entirely in her control. "She's the only one I can go to~"

Eunbi nods again, practically bouncing her chin. She bows formally and mumbles a farewell, but before she can take a step, the other blocks her way.

"You think I'm crazy..."

The younger makes a noise of surprise. "Hm? No... Honestly... I've always thought you were so coooool."

Yuna giggles, eyes getting a little watery. "Really? Well..." She puts her hands over her heart and rubs at her chest. "This cool girl hasn't gotten over Yewon yet."

"Hm?"

"Wanna know why?" She didn't wait

Chapter 16: Is the original series have a sequel for this? The ending seems rush. I know this story followed the original drama that's why I'm wondering. Despite wonha still loving each other, they need to end up this way? But a happy ending for Sinrin is ♥️.
