Birthday
My DearIt's the morning of Ryeowook’s fourth birthday. Knowing about their sleeping guest on their couch, the excited boy sneaks out of his bedroom, carefully tiptoeing to the living room, and crawls next to the sleeping man.
"Uncle Chullie." He whispers emphatically and pokes the snoring man into the cheek. "Uncle Chullie, wake up." He continues to digging his tiny finger into his uncle's face, until the man squints his eyes in the process of waking.
Yawning and stretching, Heechul takes the time to come to himself, before he greets his little nephew, "Hey buddy, what's up?"
"It's my birthday!" Ryeowook cheers himself, while using the couch as trampoline, even though his uncle is still lying on it. But the adult doesn't mind, instead he enjoys seeing the little one so happy, chuckles then, and pulls the boy into a tight teddybear hug, "Happy birthday, Wookie-ah."
The boy giggles as his face gets showered with kisses and their cuddling session last until Heechul puts little Wook aside, "Wait a moment, I bought something for you."
"Is it a birthday gift?"
"Nah, let's say it's foretaste of your actual present." The uncle winks and the birthday boy claps his hands excitedly.
Soon he's back with a giraffe styled headband, horns and ears included. Seeing this Ryeowook screams in joy, and after getting it on his head, he jumps around the couch again, "It's my birthday. It's my birthday."
The little boy's yelling wakes his dad, who appears in the doorway, rubbing his eyes but smiles watching his hyper little son in his pyjamas and that suitable headband, "Good morning."
"Appa, it's my birthday."
"I know, my dear," The father chuckles and catches the tiny body, when the boy hops into his appa's arms, "Happy birthday, Ryeonggu." He says, pecks the cute apple cheeks and his son snuggles against his appa's chest.
"Can I open my presents, appa?" The boy asks looking up to his dad, with big round eyes, what makes Jongwoon's heart melting. He nudges the tiny nose softly and suggests to have breakfast first. "Ok." Ryeowook mutters with a small pout and let his appa carry him to the kitchen.
They have an extensive breakfast in their pyjamas, with Ryeowook gleefully sipping a cup of cocoa and the brothers sharing a pot of coffee. Jongwoon purposely worked overtime the past week to get today off, what means that the birthday boy doesn't have to go to kindergarten either.
But after emptying his bowl, Ryeowook little legs become fidgety again, wiggles under the table out of curious tension.
"What's wrong, my dear?" Jongwoon teases a bit, with a knowing smirk. "Can I open my birthday presents, now?" The boy pleads, looking so adorable with the head decoration and the cute face. "Let's clear the table first." The father says, while finishing his cup and Heechul grins, "We need to clean the dishes, as well."
"That's so mean!" The little one whines, but in the end he helps his uncle, like the well-behaved boy Jongwoon raised.
In the meantime the father prepares a small birthday table in the living room, with balloons, colorful streamers, a nicely wrapped present and the birthday cake his mother helped him with, the day before. It's not much, but enough to make little Ryeowook’s eyes sparkle.
"This is for me?" He asks excited and claps his tiny hands looking at the baked giraffe head, as Heechul starts a birthday song and his appa lights up a candle in a shape of number 4.
Little Wookie enjoys the brotherly duet of his appa and uncle Chullie, because both voices sounds so nice to him.
Finishing the song Jongwoon gets on his knees to encourages his son to make a wish, and nothing can hold the boy from blowing the candle.
"Happy birthday, my dear." The father wishes again and let the little one hugging him. "A giraffe cake. Appa, you did it." Ryeowook shou
