Snowy day
My DearThis February is very cold and snowy in South Korea. Everywhere on the streets, people are wrapped in their coats, hands buried deep in their pockets, and the faces covered by thick scarves. But the children are happy and excited seeing the white landscape.
It's a Monday after a particularly snowy weekend and all kids in the kindergarten are incredibly hyper, which is why Leeteuk and the other teachers decide to let the little rascals play outside.
Screaming with joy, children of different ages run into the garden to play in the fluffy, cold snow. Ryeowook and his friends can't wait to romp outside in the white splendor either.
"Kyu, do you wanna build a snowman with us?" Wookie smiles encouragingly at the other boy, but the taller wrinkles his nose, "Snowmans are for babies. I will go and make an igloo."
"You're a baby!" Donghae murmurs and huffs. Ryeowook sticks out his tongue, "Then go and build your stupid igloo. Come, Hae. Let's leave the spoilsport alone." The sulky boys turn on their heels to find another spot, away from the traitor.
But soon, the anger is forgotten and each of the friends roll a snowball through the yard, which keeps getting bigger and bigger. Luckily both of them are wearing gloves, because the snow is really bitterly cold and small clouds made their breath visible. However that doesn't bother them, they're having fun.
"Look, my ball is bigger than yours." Donghae is happy and Wookie nods, "Ok, then mine is the head. Help me to put it onto yours."
"Yeah, but be careful."
Skillfully, the boys lift the balls on top of each other, and look at their work with satisfaction.
"And now?" Donghae asks while rubbing the back of his neck.
"I'm looking for suitable sticks for the arms. And you can search for pretty pebbles for the face." Ryeowook suggests, what makes the other little one nodding in agreement. And not long, the snowy creature gets two arms, a friendly face and because Donghae found a lot of pretty little stones, buttons for the belly.
But for some reason, the two are not yet satisfied with their artwork.
"He looks ," notes Ryeowook with a raised eyebrow and the other boy narrows his eyes too, "Yeah!"
Then Wookie pulls the gloves off his hands to hang them on the ends of the snowman's arms. Seeing this Donghae pulls off his pink scarf, and Ryeowook puts his hat on top of the snow guy's head. As final little Hae adds his earmuffs to their new friend and declares, "Now all we need is a name for this white buddy."
"What do you think about Mr. Snow?"
"Nah, this sounds like an old man."
"Freezy?"
"Frosty." Donghae says and Wookie claps his hands, "Oh I like this." Donghae beams proud of his idea, but then they hear Leeteuk calling their unit to go inside.
"Oh no."
"Stay warm, Frosty."
The boys're running to their teacher to join the group going in and while counting the kids, Teukie reminds each one to clean their boots from all the snow beforehand.
When his eyes fall on the two best friends, Leeteuk is wondering, "Wookie-ah, where is your hat? And I'm sure you had a pair of gloves with you this morning?" Said boy stops in his track, guiltily.
"And Donghae-ah, I'm missing your scarf? And where do you hide the earmuffs?"
Caught! Nothing escapes from Teukie's eagle eyes. Embarrassed, both boys look down at the toes of their shoes, "We built a snowman, his name is Frosty." Donghae mumbles and Ryeowook adds abashed, "We wanted him to feel warm and cozy. When he has to stay in the garden all by himself."
"Boys, we're talking about a snowman. I doubt he will feel uncomfortable cold outside."
The kids still refuse to look their teacher in the eyes, who sounds not amused, "And what did you little heroes think should I tell your
