Unexpected

Jeno was scared and lost. He knew what situation he was falling into and he didn’t know how to get back out. He was sure it was already too late for him back up. What ever happened to focusing on his career? What ever happened to focusing on his life, his future in the business? He closed off all his interests in dating a long time ago since Haera. He swore to himself he’d never turn away from what’s more important; his family’s business. When he met Chaerin, he wasn’t worried because he thought he could maintain a line between them. But now, he was regretting it. He was regretting it so badly. How could he let his guard down so easily?

At this point Jaemin was beyond disappointed and a little upset. He felt like a relationship counselor that never wanted the job. Literally the day he talked to both of them, they decide to get all chummy with each other and now things have gotten worse.

“Chae, I just don’t understand. I warned you yesterday about everything, but it’s like you guys don’t listen.” Jaemin said massaging his temples. He had heard from a frantic Jeno earlier. The latter was literally panicking about everything because of how conflicted he felt.

“I didn’t mean to. It was in the moment.”

Jaemin rolled his eyes at her response. “Chae, do you seriously not like him? Everything you’ve been doing seems a lot more than just in the moment.”

“I don’t know Jaemin. I’m conflicted. Hyunjin’s perfect, but then there’s Jeno. I just don’t know.”

So, for the next few days, Chaerin would spend as much time as possible with Hyunjin. She wanted to just distract herself from everything. She was confused. She didn’t know if she liked Jeno. It was confusing for some reason and she didn’t know why. She was scared that if she chose Jeno, she might regret it late if she and him doesn’t work out. What if Hyunjin would have been the better choice in the long run.

Chaerin didn’t want to deal with it. So she chose to avoid the problem by hanging out and studying with Hyunjin. He was nice to be around. She would give short and quick responses if Jeno ever spoke to her. She would simply tell him she was with Hyunjin if Jeno ever questioned where she was at.

The issue was that not once did she consider how Jeno would feel being left in the dark, confused. Instead, she kept avoiding to give him a clear answer. It was driving him insane. He felt sad and scared. But he also felt a kick of jealousy whenever she was out with Hyunjin. Why was another guy out with her when he’s supposed to be with her?

Chaerin was able to somewhat carry on her life as though nothing has really changed after about a week.
