Unexpected

To say Jeno slept peacefully would be a lie. He was unfortunately wide awake. He couldn’t sleep because of the girl whom he was to share this home with. It doesn’t take much to hear her sobs at night. It honestly drove him insane. He wanted to tune her out, but it was bothering him too much. He eventually fell asleep, but it was long before he snapped awake again. The time read 2:45 AM. He groaned as he dragged himself out of bed, going out to grab a glass of water. He stopped in his steps as he laid his eyes on the girl sleeping on the couch before heading to the kitchen.

After drinking some water, he was about to head straight back to the bedroom, but paused to look at her once again. He sighed before turning on his heels, walking towards Chaerin. The girl was sleeping so soundly. Removing the blanket off her, his arms slipped underneath her body and lifted her. He chuckled to himself, realizing who he’d be stuck with for the rest of his life. It was still hard for him grasp the fact that he was going to be engaged to some girl he just met. Furthermore, they don’t even get along. What a crazy situation he’s found himself in. And here he was, switching spots with her just because he felt a little bad for making her sleep on the couch. He gently placed her onto the bed, untangling his arms from her body. He froze for a quick second when he found his face so close to hers before proceeding to tuck her in. He had to admit, his so called fiancé was breathtakingly attractive and maybe, this engagement wouldn’t be that bad for him. His fiancé is someone other guys would kill to be with; so maybe, his unfortunate engagement is actually a lucky one.

Of course, Jeno wasn’t happy when he heard about the engagement. It was his love life after all. He didn’t even have any interest in dating anyone as of now, what made his parents think he was ready for an engagement and marriage? He initially wanted to call off the engagement in the first few minutes of learning about his engagement. However, he quickly saw the engagement in a business perspective. He understood why his parents were making such a decision. It wasn’t because they didn’t care about him. It was just for business and he knew that. Being someone who really didn’t care much about his own love life, whatever happens, he wouldn’t care. That is, if it meant it would benefit the business. He was doing this for the business and he didn’t mind. Jeno was determined to follow his parents’ decision and avoid being a disappointment to the company. He knew Chaerin was completely different. She was determined to live her own life whether or not they’d be together legally. He didn’t mind her goals either. They didn’t know each other and they didn’t care much for each other to be an obstacle.

He couldn’t help but feel amused by their situation. Although they didn’t know other and interact with each other at all, he found her presence amusing. She was making his life a tad bit more interesting for once. What a crazy coincidence that they met though Jaemin and became engaged the same day. He chuckled to himself before turning on his side on the couch and shutting his eyes.

Chaerin rubbed her eyes with her fists as she woke up. As she stretched in the bed, her eyes widened as she remembered she didn’t sleep on a bed last night. She quickly sat up and scanned the bed, praying she wouldn’t find Jeno present. A sigh of relief escaped her lips as he was nowhere to be seen. Her head snapped in the direction of the door as it cracked open. She was going to hate having to deal with Jeno first thing in the morning. “How’d I end up here? I was sleeping on the couch.”

“You mean, you don’t remember everything we did last night?” His question made her eyes widened and her heart sank. What happened? She was trying her best to recall her memories from last night. They didn’t do anything...did they?

“W-What do you mean? W-We didn’t do anything did we?” She gulped, fearing his answer. He smirked at her in response, “I’m joking, we didn’t do anything. You should’ve seen your face just now. I just moved you in the middle of the night because you looked uncomfortable. Aren’t I the best fiancé?” Her face blushed in embarrassed as he revealed the truth. She punched him on the arm, “You ing jerk! Don’t scare me like that!”

“Damn, feisty. You should get ready, Jaemin called telling me to wake you since you’re going to be late.” She cursed at him when he pinched her cheek before leaving the bedroom.

She immediately jumped out of bed as she realized he was right when he said she was running late. Chaerin was used to running late all the time. She quickly got dressed while brushing her teeth all at once. The girl rushed herself to apply some light makeup and put her hair up in a high ponytail.
