Jaemin never thought he’d be caught up in such a feud between his two best friends. The poor boy never expected anything like this to happen. He thought a scenario like this one would only occur in dramas. Boy, was he wrong. He remembered the phone call he received from a frantic Chaerin the night the family dinner took place. She was crying on the phone to him about her engagement to his own best friend, Jeno. The same Jeno that Jaemin has just introduced to her this afternoon. She told him about how Jeno refused to call off the engagement because of his business perspective.
Jaemin’s heart sank as he heard her cry all night about it. He felt bad for her. He knew how much she dreamt of living the life she wanted. He knew how important her relationship and future were to her. He felt horrible that his friend wouldn’t be able to if she was stuck in this engagement. Being best friends with the two of them, Jaemin wasn’t surprised by both of their responses. He knew their goals in life and it made sense why they’d react they way they did.
Chaerin wanted to be independent and she wanted to be able to choose who she loves. Whereas Jeno is more focused on his career and the family legacy. The boy cares more about what his family would like him to do. The both of them are terribly stubborn and Jaemin knew this was going to be messy and will only get messier. He never thought his best friends would have their lives entangled like this. Jaemin also knew he needed to state his role in the entire situation before things would get ugly. He made it clear to the both of them that he would never take sides between his two best friends. He would never want to have to ruin a friendship because of a relationship. They respected his wish, knowing it’d be hard for him to balance both of their sides. Three weeks after the news of their engagement and things were already a mess. The poor boy was already getting a headache from the two. They were constantly butting heads with each other and then ranting to him about one another.
He felt sad because he knew Jeno isn’t as horrible as he may seem, but that is only under the condition that he is fond of someone. He remembered his conversation with Jeno the first time since the news of their engagement. “If she’s going to be a about everything then I’ll be one too.” He remembered the boy saying.
“Jeno, I know and respect your opinions. The only thing I want to say is that I don’t want you to play with her and hurt her feelings, okay? She’s also my friend and whatever happens, don’t treat or use her like that. Promise?” Jaemin didn’t want Jeno to channel his inner man- self when it came to Chaerin. He knew they didn’t like each other, but anything like that is disrespectful.
“Fine, I promise.”

These days, Chaerin only wants to distract herself with schoolwork. She would stay in the art building on campus all day and would work on her assignments there. She would tune out everyone else other than Jaemin. No matter how much Jaemin tried to convince her to go elsewhere, just for a little bit, she would decline. Once again, the studio was overall empty. It was around 3 in the afternoon and Chaerin and Jaemin were the only ones in there. Chaerin was so immersed in her work. She was too busy listening to her music and focusing on her sketches that she didn’t even notice the male that stood beside her.
It was when she felt an arm suddenly around her shoulder that she jolted up. She took out an airpod in annoyance and snapped her head to the her right a little too fast to realize his face was close to her. Their faces were so close that she felt their lips brush against each other. Chaerin immediately snapped her head away from him and could feel her face turn red. Jeno only stood there and smirked at her, “Well, . If you wanted a kiss, why didn’t you just say so?”
“Shut the hell up, Jeno. What are you even doing here anyway? How’d you know I was here?” The girl angrily snapped at him.
Jaemin, who witnessed the entire thing, found it absolutely entertaining to watch them bicker, “He asked me where you were and I felt like it was necessary to reveal your location.” He felt a chill down his spine as Chaerin shot him a death glare. Damn, she is one scary girl sometimes.
“Well, princess, our paren
