| The Date |
A Familiar StrangerJi Hyo stands in front of the mirror to check her appearance one last time. She has been staring at her reflection for longer than necessary, paying attention to the smallest of details. She wants this night to be perfect, not just for herself but also for Kwang Soo. As she looks through her purse, she hears the doorbell chime. Quickly fastening the strap of her heels, she peeks into the peep hole. And standing on the other side was Kwang Soo. He was... mesmerizing. She couldn’t take her eyes off of him. Ji Hyo could see him fidget a little, both arms behind his back. She smiles to herself. And I thought I was the only one that’s nervous.
Ji Hyo swings the door open.
“Wow.” He says breathlessly, staring at her as if he saw her for the first time. With the Kwang Soo in front of her, she can now see him better. He was dressed to the nines. The actor was wearing a tailored black suit, with a black bow tie. His hair styled in the way she likes best, almost imitating the shape of a comma. Kwang Soo looked just... exquisite. “Hi.” She manages to breathe out the breath she didn’t know she was holding.
Staring at him even longer, she can tell with absolute certainty that she has the same effect on him. The way the tops of his ears turn red gives him away.
Biting his lips to suppress a smile, Kwang Soo stands shyly right before her. Ji Hyo looked nothing short of perfect. He couldn’t believe his eyes. If he could slap himself right now, he would’ve already done it. He wanted to make sure that he wasn’t dreaming.
Ji Hyo was dressed in something that embodies her. At first, she wasn't so sure about the dress, she thought that it might be a bit too much for a first date. But seeing how he was gaping at her like a cartoon character, she knew it was the right choice. The light pink satin dress, hugging her curves at the right places. The dress was a personified version of herself, beautiful but still comfortable. Her hair cascades flawlessly down to her shoulders in beautiful soft waves. The tall man couldn’t find any words to summarize his thoughts so he just awkwardly hands her the bouquet of flowers that he had been holding behind him. It was an arrangement of baby’s breath flowers.
“Gomawo, Kwang Soo ya. It’s beautiful.” Reaching for the small card attached to it, she opens it. His adorable scrawny penmanship wrote, “Baby’s breath: A symbol of everlasting love, innocence and pureness” and underneath it says, “From Kwang Soo. To my everlasting love, Song Ji Hyo.” At this, she smiles at him, noticing as he turned shyer. “I love it, Kwang Soo ya.” She says as she gets on the tip of her toes to plant a chaste kiss on his cheek, leaving a pink tint from her lipstick. She giggles to herself but doesn’t say anything, she thought it was cute.
“Love, you look... wonderful.” He finally says.
Hitting his arm playfully, she could feel her face start to get warm. She was starting to feel bashful from the way he was staring at her.
“Ready?” The tall man asks as he delicately rests his hand on the small of her back.
Meeting his gaze, she thought that if she could go back to that cold winter night, it wouldn't have mattered if he took her to eat soondae or fish cakes across the street. She knew that night would've been perfect, for as long as it was Kwang Soo. He is the perfect date.
She nods, lacing her fingers with his. As he guides her into the elevator, they could see their reflection on the metal door, they both look flushed and anyone who would see them wouldn’t h
