A Familiar StrangerReluctantly moving away, she looks up at him as her eyes fill with fresh tears. "Ya. Behave okay? I'll be back soon." She says, her voice miserable and hoarse. Ji Hyo had been crying all morning. After their wedding, she was so excited to finally share a home with Kwang Soo. She had plenty of things she wanted to do as soon as they moved in together; put up pictures of them around the house, paint the living room a different colour and maybe even learn how to make their own kimchi. But when her manager had called abruptly at the worst possible time, right before she was about to share an intimate moment with her husband, all their plans had been placed on the back burner. Their plans now spoiled and postponed, the kimchi will have to wait. Ji Hyo was utterly frustrated to say the least.
A few months ago when she had accepted the role, she would have never thought that it would compromise the quality time she shared with Kwang Soo and above all, she would've never thought that it would send her and her fellow actors on the other side of the globe.
She did try her very best to negotiate with her agency but according to their sources, the ill-tempered writer for the movie had decided on his own that he wanted some scenes to be filmed in London. Apparently, the writer insisted that filming in a foreign country will add a unique 'artistic flare' to the scenes. Just thinking about it makes her face contort in a bitter way.
So here she was, leaving her husband a week after their wedding, having barely seen each other for the past seven days. Sure, she's only going to be gone for two weeks, but the fact that she just got married to Kwang Soo and is already abruptly leaving upsets her to a certain degree. Keeping your life private sure is hard work. And for the past week, their schedules also kept conflicting to the point that it felt like their jobs were scheming together to keep them apart. It had been a depressing cycle of coming home to her already sleeping husband and getting up to an empty bed. The most time they had spent together was when he would come home earlier than expected, his long arms wrapping around her as her chest rose and fell as she slept.
As he places her luggage in the back of her manager's car, she wraps him again in a tight hug. burning from the urge to cry. She didn't want to let go, she misses him already. "Why did you have to be so tall?" She mutters, stomping her legs adorably. "If you were tiny you would fit in my suitcase."
Chuckling meekly, he wipes the tears from her face. His lips placing a tender kiss on her forehead. He's gonna miss her so much. "Love, I'll be here when you come back, okay? I'll call you everyday." He promises, disguising his sadness with a small smile. Kwang Soo knew it was going to be difficult to come home to an empty house and sleep in an empty bed, but he didn't want to burden her even more. She already apologized way too much for her sudden departure.
"Ya! I told you I'm the only one allowed to cry." She scolds, hitting his arm weakly as she eyes his quivering lips. Ji Hyo could tell he was trying his best not to get too emotional. "Aigoo. Why is my husband so clingy?" She jokes, trying to lighten up the atmosphere.
"Mianhae..." He says, clearing his throat to swallow the lump in his throat.
