She knew she couldn't survive on just his and hellos through a small screen. It was stupid of her to think it could work, but hope kept springing up every so often that there were moments when she actually believed it was possible.   "Rough night?"   Minjoo looked up from her phone to see her secretary, a pretty girl with short black hair, standing in front of her with a clipboard.   "I didn't go out last night," she answered with a glare that she thought would be intimidating.   "Really," the secretary replied in a teasing tone, setting the clipboard down on the table.   Minjoo immediately put her phone away as if she hadn't been staring at it all morning and continued to glare at the person in front of her.   "Then you must have stayed up all night drinking wine at your house," the secretary continued, raising an eyebrow.   "Yah," she warned. Her glare didn't waver, but her eyes did narrow. "That's too personal. I'm still your boss."   "You still look like you've drunk half a keg," her secretary responded with a loud laugh. "And, for all that energy, your glare doesn't seem like it contain even an ounce of lethality. In fact, it's surprisingly cute."   She couldn't, even if she tried, contain the blush that immediately stained her cheeks.   The secretary couldn't help but chortle upon seeing the blush, adding in an obvious teasing tone, "Also, didn't you tell me to speak informally to you since I'm older?"   "Seriously, Chaeyeon?" She groaned in resignation. "Why are you here?"   "Oh? I just need you to sign this, Miss Kim," the secretary replied, pointing at the clipboard.   Minjoo quickly scanned through the document attached to the clipboard, ignoring the sudden formality.   "Also, your mom called again."   She stilled, her pen hovering just above the line that has 'signature over printed name' written underneath. "What did you tell her this time?"   "That you're in a meeting with one of your investors," the secretary replied, folding her arms in front of her. "Honestly, I feel like she'll be barging in here one of these days if I keep telling her the same thing."   "Just tell her I stepped out of the office and you don't know where I went."   "You really do expect me to keep lying for you, huh?"   "Yes. Thank you for being such a good liar."   "Ha. Fine. You're welcome." With a wink and a playful smirk, the black-haired secretary continued, "Maybe I should get a raise, then?"   "Or maybe I should start looking for another secretary," Minjoo countered, rolling her eyes before pushing the clipboard away. "Now go."   Chaeyeon couldn't help but let out another loud laugh as she retreated from the room. "I have one more news for you, though."   "I'm not sure if I'd like to hear it or not, but go on."   "Tomorrow's supposed to be the first day of snow."   The secretary noticed the interior designer's blank expression, so she stopped in the doorway. And just before she closed the door, she added with a smile, "Stay warm. Be sure to bring a coat with you."   Minjoo's face remained blank, showing little if any understanding of the information she just received.   Her eyes wandered through the room before coming to rest on the framed photo on her desk, and that was when reality hit her like an overspeeding truck.   For a while, it hurt everywhere.   Until suddenly, it didn't feel like anything at all.           There were nights when she would lay awake in bed staring at the ceiling, aching for her. Sometimes, she would lay curled up into a ball, weeping and feeling lost. And on those nights, even days, she'd felt nearly compelled to break things off.   Minjoo was well aware that things have changed. She allowed her emotions to take her mind down the dark avenue of pain, where the once perfectly good relationship lay on the brink of an end.   But she kept holding on, because despite her gut screaming at her to let her go, she was convinced that they would be together again in the future, however far or near it might be. And even if it hurts.   She would hold on to Yujin, like she did with that one promise they made to each other when they were kids.   "Promise me, Minjoo. This will always be our day," a young Yujin grinned in delight, letting out her little finger to make a pinky promise.   "What day?" Minjoo asked, unable to hide her confusion.   "The first day of snow."   Minjoo held on tight and kept her promise. She'd always find herself thinking of the little girl with bunny teeth, grinning from ear to ear, as she watched the first flake of snow fell to the ground.   The snow reminded her of Yujin. Even if they were apart, it was the one thing that made her feel connected to her.   Unconsciously, she even made a tradition out of it. As soon as the ground was covered in white, she would go out, squat down and begin to write Yujin's name on the snow.   She knew it wouldn't last for long, but by the time it faded away, she already felt the connection. And for her, that was enough.   But what she didn't know was that Yujin has done the exact same thing for years, albeit a little differently.           It wasn't long till Minjoo was forced to leave the comforts of her office. One of her company's investors, a fr
